Amy I am reading the "Lillie Mead" series by Lisa Zumpano and really love them. I cruised through the first 4 books and am about to finish book 5. I'll be so sad when I'm finished with them.

I read the first one a couple of months ago and bought the second. It'll be a little bit till I can get to it but it's on the list!

Yes! Now she has a cookbook and a second volume planned. There should be at least one more mystery but probably more after that! She said the next cupcake book won't be out until fall because it's Christmas themed. Boohoo! I miss Mel, Angie, Tate, Oz and Marty. Marty cracks me up.

I just read Case of the One-Eyed Tiger Case of the One-Eyed Tiger (Corgi Case Files, #1) by Jeffrey M. Poole

This is my first male-centered cozy. Typically I read female sleuths and authors. I didn't really care for Zack that much. He's kind of immature and also kind of old for his age. At 43 he should be more technologically competent than he is. Even my parents know how to use their Smartphones. I think even my dad knows how to add contacts. My mom writes the number on a piece of paper and then adds it in manually but that's better than Zack!
He also uses strong language a little too often.

Sherlock is cute but a little too canny to be believable. I love how Zack was suckered into adopting the little guy. The villain committed so many crimes I was flabbergasted. I didn't see that coming.

Denise I'm reading the Lin Coffin series by J.A. Whiting. I'm starting book #6 and am really enjoying the series. Lin Coffin is a young woman who has inherited her grandfather's house and decides to move back to her hometown and live in the house and start a landscaping business. Lin has had the ability to see ghosts since her childhood but doesn't want to see them. In the first book, a ghost keeps appearing to her, prompting her to research an old mystery. As we get further into the series, Lin is beginning to accept her ability, and the stories are getting more interesting with each one.

Karen I didn't see a separate board for posting freebies, so I'm posting this here. It may be too late, but I received a notice in an e-newsletter about a 1-day freebie "sale." The date in the newsletter is Jan 26, 2023, but the link to check it anyway (just in case) is:
https://cozymysterybookclub.com/bookb...

As I write this, it's 12:50 AM on the 27 and there are still freebies listed. There were offerings in different genres and for different sellers (Kobo, B&N, Apple, Google, Amazon...). Good luck.

UPDATE: 1:55 AM I was able to get the Kobo, B&N, and Google Books, but the Amazon one were back to regular pricing. (Thankfully, I already had most of the Amazon-only ones.)

If you read epubs, I'd still try those that have links other than Amazon. I picked up most of the books via Kobo, but did have to get one from Google and one from B&N.

Forgot to mention... No signing up for author newsletters this time.

It's really good. It's a detective agency but I count this as a cozy. The feel, the humor, the excellent writing, it's all great and it fits a cozy to a T. It's one of those series that draws you in and you just feel good reading it.

I like that series a lot especially the Egyptian one. It didn't hold a candle to Amelia Peabody but it showed what was going on in England at the same time.

I just finished an Amelia Peabody last month, saw an Egyptian exhibit in San Francisco the next week, then read this book for a couple challenges, with none of these connections pre-planned. Love it when things like that happen! Really brought things to life. And your comment about this book showing what was going on in England with these antiquities was uppermost in my mind while reading.

Karen Barb wrote: "I noticed that very few of the titles offered are anywhere on GoodReads, and most of them weren't even on Amazon to check things like pub dates, page counts, etc."

I, too, tried to look for some of the titles. I gave up, but reading the description of the ones I downloaded showed that they were prequels to the series. Sometimes those in-between novellas don't make it to Amazon. I'm not sure how they get listed on GR because some do and some don't depending on authors and series.

Some of the offerings were for authors/series I already read. I did look up new-to-me authors to see if I'd like the series.

I added a couple new-to-me series. Just what I need... More TBRs. :o)

Ooh super fun! I love Amelia and the entire Emerson clan. The books always make me laugh. I got my mom hooked on them and now she's read them once, I'm slowly collecting used copies so we can reread them again.

message 526: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Amelia Peabody books are great fun! I love them as well. I had been listening to them and the narrator was fantastic and then a few books later they switched and i don't care for the narration as it is done by an older woman and though Amelia's books are her memoirs, i prefer hearing her younger voice in the telling of the story

Amelia Peabody was on my list of series to re-read in audio but narrator change didn't work for me.

QNPoohBear Dogcatcher in the Rye
This series is cute. A lot of great thoughts on dogs and a good mystery. I did not guess whodunit. I missed the clues because I was speedreading and because Ivy missed them too. I thought it was someone else and I was close. I love Keats!

Were these audiobooks via audible or somewhere else? Do you all know at what # in the series that the narrator changed?

I may still listen to them with the change but at least I'll have been forewarned. I just finished #8 and it seemed to be the same narrator yet.

Not sure but I think they may have gone back and re-recorded the first books with the second more well known narrator. If you started with her (she is a narrator I usually like) you should be fine. I've thought about going back to them since it's been years and doing them close together was probably part of what made the change so jarring.

QNPoohBear Meg wrote: "This one is cute; love Keats, as well. I have #4 on the tbr for next month."

Keats is so sweet. My brother's family has a beloved Cattle Dog mix and she's such a sweetheart. She adores the kids and her job is to herd her family to bed. Our family terrier understood English and talked back so I fully appreciate Ivy's communication with Keats and don't think it's weird.

I enjoyed the farm animals in the Mischief in Dog Town - The Complete Series so I am looking forward to seeing them again. That pig is hilarious!

QNPoohBear Mischief in Dog Town - The Complete Series

They're light romances with a slight mystery. A little cheesy but the animals are adorable, especially the farm animals. You can get Hannah Pemberton's backstory and the story of the rescue farm animals in one of those stories. The dancing Alpaca kills me and the angry sow is too funny.

QNPoohBear SQUEEE! Finally got Fatal Fascinator! I'm so excited. My real life friend read it just ahead of me and I was jealous. This book contains an excerpt of Summer Reading (rom com) and my friend was a beta reader for that one. I'm sooo jealous of her!

I also have A Fashionable Fatality heading my way. I do not care for Coco Chanel so I don't know how much I'll enjoy this one.

message 544: by Alice (new)

Alice I finished  Oh, Fudge! (3.5 stars out of 5) Oh, Fudge! (Candy-Coated, #5) by Nancy CoCo  by Nancy Coco a fun cozy set in at Mackinac Island in Michigan. Lots of fudge recipes. Mystery wasn't too complex. Mal and Mello (Cat and Dog) are sweet.  They dynamics between the two cousins, Allie and Tori, were a bit annoying. Overall a good read.

message 546: by Laura (new)

Laura Emerson I'm starting The Purrfect Murder by Rita Mae Brown. She lives on a farm outside Charlottesville, Virginia where I grew up. My Cerebral Palsy makes distance travel difficult, so when I miss the people who still live there, listening to one of her Mrs. Murphy mysteries helps me feel better because I know the places she writes about in them really well and I love the characters, especially Tee Tucker the Corgi because I love dogs,

message 547: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear I sped though Fatal Fascinator last night but now I have to slow down and read it again to really think about it. It had enough twists and turns to confuse me. I wanted more Bella, the adorable Corgi puppy but the romance between Scarlet and you know who is very sweet. The next one won't be out for at least 2 more years and it had better feature a wedding.

message 548: by Alice (new)

Alice I am reading a very good, new historical Cozy.
