Xanthi Hi all.
I'm an Australian, cat loving, cozy mystery fan, who also happens to work in a library and admin a local book club.
Naturally, my fave cozy series either feature cats or animals in general, libraries/librarians, or bookshops.
I'm always discovering new authors and series as I go.
Feel free to friend me.

Hi Xanthi.
I also love a cozy mystery series that involves a library or bookshop and throwing in a cat or two is perfect! I've added so many books to my TBR since joining this group that I'm sure you'll do the same. I'll send a friend request.

message 156: by PugMom (new)

PugMom Hello! Thank you for letting me join! I love all cozy mysteries! I am in several cozy book clubs and run one on Facebook so I'm always reading at least 5 cozies a month! Looking forward to chatting with you all.

message 157: by Anne (new)

Anne Willow Hi, I'm Anne. The first in my series goes live tomorrow. I'm nervously excited. It's a paranormal antique theme set in the small artist town of Grand Marais MN - along the shores of Lake Superior.

Outside of cozies, I love fantasy and alternative historical fiction. Especially those stories that explore the "what ifs" of a past event.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

message 158: by Jen (new)

Jen Smith Hello everyone! I'm Jennifer and I live in Texas. I only in the last few years started really loving cozy mysteries. I find them so much fun, and really enjoy the fact that no matter what theme you are into, there is a cozy mystery for everyone. I mainly read hobby themed stories: scrapbooking, knitting, and sewing, but I have read all of Agatha Raisin because she makes me laugh.

I look forward to reading others recommendations and updates on new book releases. Thank you :)

message 159: by Leonie (new)

Leonie van Driel Hi all, I am Leonie an live in the Netherlands. I love to read all kinds of books. The Scumble River series by Denise Swanson is one of my favourites. Because of this series I've been looking into more cozy's but there is so much offered. I am not so much into cats and crafts, but I enjoy strong independent women and some laughs. What do you recommend?

message 160: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Oswalt Hello everyone. I'm Ashley. I recently just remembered i made a goodreads account so i am still new to everything. My all time favorite genre of books is of course cozies. I'm excited to start reading the current books for this month for the group!

message 161: by Susan (new)

Susan Solomon Hi everyone, I'm Susan, an author of mysteries, and a lover of the genre since, when I was 11, my mom handed my Agatha Christie's Peril at End House. I love reading a well-written cozy, and talking about.

message 162: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice Fishback Hi everyone, Like Victoria i was introduced to Agatha Christie by my mom. I've lived in the UK a total of 20 years and love all things British. Currently I spend half my time in the US and the other half in the UK. I love to read and write cozies and I look forward to meeting new authors via this group and reading some awesome mysteries in the process.

message 163: by Heidi (new)

Heidi My name is Heidi. I am from N.E. Ohio. I fell in love with Agatha Christie several years ago when I went on a trip to Ontario, Canada, and saw The Mousetrap. I have been reading mysteries ever since and have branched out to several other cozy mystery series.
I am also a stay at home mom, crochet, cross-stitch, and also a Pink Zebra Independent Consultant.

Beth It's been awhile since I checked this thread, and I enjoyed reading about all our new members. Welcome to you all!

message 165: by Kristine (new)

Kristine Frost Hi, I'm Kristine from Utah. I got hooked on mysteries when I was seven. My big love as a kid were the Augusta Huiell Seaman Mysteries and the Dana Girls. Now, I love to read all mysteries especially cozies. I love all the cat mysteries especially Sofie Kelly, Leann Sweeney. I can't get enough of Joanna Fluke, Julie Hyzy, and Krista Davis. I write mystery novels as well. I'm looking to find great new authors to read.

message 166: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Hello everyone! I'm Laurel. I've been interested in getting into cozy mysteries for a while, and I figured joining this group would give me good recommendations!

message 167: by Toni (T.C.) (new)

Toni (T.C.) LoTempio hello everyone. I am Toni, (T.C.) Lotempio. I love to read mysteries and I write two series which feature cats. I and my cat ROCCO run a blog which features reviews, author interviews and giveaways. www.catsbooksmorecats.blogspot.com

message 168: by C. (new)

C. McKenzie I just joined the group because I'm a delayed Cozy Mystery fan. I've always enjoyed mysteries, but for some reason haven't often chosen them to read. I thought by joining this group I could find more recommendations for my reading pleasure in this category.

I am a writer as well as an avid reader. These days I most generally write novels that are aimed at the young adult/crossover and middle-grade interest level.

message 169: by Donna (new)

Donna I joined this group a long while back. I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Donna McCoy. I am an avid reader. I read most genre of books. But I love the cozy mysteries. I wish that Good Reads would have more of them in the giveaways as well as Christmas books. I have always enjoyed a good mystery. Once I pick up a book, it's hard for me to put it down in order to get my other daily duties accomplished. I am a book addict too as I do own many, many books; too many to count. I just hope I get them all read before I pass on from this world.
I am a mother of 4 grown children with families of their own, 6 grandchildren and now 4 great-grandchildren. My granddaughter just had her 4th child, a boy, on Friday Sept. 22. So, I am one happy person.
My husband and I have been married for 49 years. They have been wonderful years. We have had some lean times, but all in all everything is working out well in our golden years.
I am happy to be a part of the Cozy Mysteries group.

message 170: by Lea (new)

Lea Hi! I'm Lea Wait. I live in Maine with my artist husband and my black cat, Shadow, where I write the Shadows Antique Print Mystery series and the Mainely Needlepoint series -- and (beginning next year) a series about two sisters who run a café on a Maine island. I also write for young people - historical novels and one mystery, Pizza To Die For. I look forward to getting to know everyone here!

message 173: by Alison (new)

Alison Hello Everyone,

I've just joined the group. I live in Pennsylvania, but native to Portland, OR. There are plenty misty-grey days there perfect for some cozy reading time. I do miss it at times... I'm recently married and have moved to PA while my husband finishes up at school. However, there is great history here in PA not to mention BEAUTIFUL houses (which would be the perfect setting for a mystery novel).

I'm a fan of many genres but very much enjoy mystery/paranormal. One of my favorite novels is The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon. I'm looking forward to participating in this group as we transition into fall over here in the US.

message 174: by Amanda (last edited Oct 05, 2017 08:08AM) (new)

Amanda Josephine Hello everyone!! I'm Amanda Morea. I was born in New York, but have lived in Florida since I was 8 years old. This past May I graduated from UCF and I am currently taking a gap year before law school. This gap year has been amazing so far because I finally have a break from school and can use almost all of my free time to read. I forgot how much reading helps me escape the real world and I'm happier now more than ever because I have time to do what I love again. As far as the types of books I read, I love a little of everything. I would say my favorite categories are Romance, Mystery/thrillers, and historical fictions. I'm very excited to be in this group and looking forward to getting to know everyone.

message 175: by Estelle (new)

Estelle Richards Hi everyone! I'm new to the group, but have been reading cozies since before I knew the genre had a particular name. I'm a stay-at-home mom of three, living in beautiful New Mexico. I'm also a writer, and am publishing my first cozy mystery this month. Some of my favorite writers are Rita Mae Brown (and Sneaky Pie Brown), Diane Mott Davidson, Agatha Frost, T E Kinsey, Christy Murphy, and Karen Sue Walker.

message 176: by Jeff (new)

Jeff Dupuis Hi, my name is Jeff and I live in Toronto. I have broad tastes in mystery and crime fiction, but cozies have a special place in my heart, as I was raised on them.

I recently release my first novel Roanoke Ridge: A Creature X Mystery, which is my take on the cozy mystery. I mentioned the word "cozy" to a literary agent friend of mine, and he just rolled his eyes, as he was in search of a Scandinavian-style noir or blood-soaked thriller. I feel that cozies have a broad appeal and will never go out of style. I'm happy to find myself here, with in the company of like-minded people.

message 177: by Beth (new)

Beth Here's a warm welcome to Jeff, Estelle, Amanda, Alison, Lea, Donna, C. Lee, Toni, Laurel, and Kristine!

message 178: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Hickey I'm Cynthia, bouncing back and forth between Arizona and Arkansas. I've several cozy series out and have an idea for another :)

message 179: by Paula (new)

Paula S Hi, I'm Paula in Sweden. I've been a member of the group for a while but I don't think I've introduced myself. Cozy mysteries have been my guilty pleasure since I was a teen and read my first Agatha Christie.

message 180: by Susan (new)

Susan Solomon Hi all. I'm Susan Lynn Solomon. I've been a member for a while, but have been scarce for weeks while dealing with a bad case of shingles. Good things about being locked in, though, I've had time to read--finished Laura King's To Play the Fool, and Julia Buckley's A Dark and Stormy Murder. Loved them both for very different reasons. As much joy as these books were, I was also able to finish writing a Emlyn Goode Mystery--this one a Christmas novelette.

message 181: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Welcome, Paula and Susan!

message 182: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Colwell Hi,
My name is Cheryl Colwell. I am really enjoying cozy mysteries and suspense. Wish there was a category called "cozy suspense" so I didn't get sucked into thrillers. A bit dark for me. Anyway, I'm slowly finding my way around this site and other Goodreads communities. Look forward to interacting with some of you "friends."

message 183: by Robyn (new)

Robyn Hello All! My name is Robyn, and I am from the Midwest. I have recently come back to reading cozy mysteries. I used to read them in high school, but for some reason stopped. I started watching a YouTuber named Courtagonist who is a huge cozy mystery fan, and thought that I needed to pick them up again because I used to really like them!
I also have a YouTube channel called the Driftless Reader. :)
I also love historical fiction books!

message 184: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline Terrill Hi,
My name is Jackie, and I'm from the Midwest as well. Cozy mysteries are some of my book preferences. Also; I like mysteries. I've recently written a novel that is going to be available on ebook. I'll tell you that within the next couple of weeks. I love to read especially at this time of year in Pennsylvania. Best wishes...

message 185: by Suranjana (last edited Oct 25, 2017 12:55AM) (new)

Suranjana Hi everyone. I am Suranjana. Though I am an avid reader I discovered the genre cozy mystery very recently ( I don't know why!) I have read a few cozies and I loved reading them. Their quiet charm has been very relaxing for me. So I thought about joining a group of cozy lovers on Goodreads and here I am. Thank you for having me.

message 186: by Juanita (new)

Juanita Hi Everyone. I posted my "hello" in the wrong group (ADMIN) so I apologize for any confusion. I am new to the group but have been a reader of cozy mysteries for a long long time. I find new series all the time and get hooked. I am currently on the last book of the Kate Carllise "Bibliophile Mysteries" and can't put it down.

I look forward to reading and sharing comments and being introduced to new series and maybe even some old favorites that are new to the group.

message 187: by Elizabeth A.G. (new)

Elizabeth A.G. Hi, Everyone -- I'm Betty from Nevada. Looking for some cozy mystery reads and glad to be joining you. I've read many mysteries and thrillers and want to indulge in less "dark" stories. Please recommend some author series in this category to get started. Thanks--happy to be joining you!

message 193: by Nina (new)

Nina Silva Hi I'm Nina. I love all things to do with Cozy Mysteries. I love the covers, the titles, the entertaining hunt and, of course, the happy endings. Looking forward to finding some new series to follow and to sharing some of my faves too.

message 194: by Jann (new)

Jann Martin Hi, I am Jann. I live near Orlando, FL. I'm a retired Associate in Ministry. It's fun to be able to read for fun now instead of business.

I love to read several different genres. I exchange books with a group of women that I know, so it's always changing as to what I'm reading. I also love to read and write children's books.

I loved your video. Scrivener is still terrifying me! Need to watch some of the videos on it. Completely relate to all your anxiety.
Interesting prologue. Peyton was quite attention-catching.
Good luck with NaNoWriMo!

Beth Elizabeth wrote: "Thanks for the welcome, Beverly, and for some direction where to look for books!"

For Elizabeth (from another Elizabeth), and anyone else looking for mystery series suggestions, I suggest the http://stopyourekillingme.com/ website, where you can search for series by genre, location, the protagonist's job, historical time period, etc. and see those which have won various awards through the years. A great source of ideas!

message 198: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Fictfact.com is really nice too.

message 199: by Mary Clare (new)

Mary Clare I'm Mary and a have been a cozy fan for years starting back with Valerie Wolzien in the 1990s.
I enjoy them because they are pleasant reads without a lot of violence and sex that add nothing to the story line.
I like to read to relax after a stressful day, and cozies are a good match for that.

One can almost identify with the characters in cozies, or at least I can identify with the cozy characters more than those from straight up mystery novels. I read them, but they aren't fun like a cozy. Aside from finding dead bodies, Wolzien's protagonist strongly reminded me of one of my good friends.

I also read Sci-fi, but have a preference for Sci-fi with a sense of humor.
Since I adopted a rescue cat I have developed an almost shameful addiction to books with cats.

Mary, I'm a sci-fi fan, too. I love humor in my books too. One of the most hilarious mystery series is The Spellman Files, not really cozies, but I can't recall anything out and out offensive in them either.
