Ashley Welcome everyone!!

message 102: by Natasha (last edited May 30, 2017 07:22AM) (new)

Natasha Hi, everyone!

I'm Natasha, "Nat" for short. I am from Texas, USA. I initially joined GoodReads for my local library's virtual book club and came across this group! Cozy mysteries is just one of the few genres I enjoy. My mom was the one who influenced me and taught me the love for books. She has a whole collection of Agatha Christie :P

I am looking forward to discover great new authors and books!

message 103: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Pavloff-Conner Hello, Everyone.

My name is Sandra, and I'm a book lover and author from Illinois, USA. I enjoy many different genres, and cozy mysteries is certainly one of them. Most of the novels I write don't fall into that genre, but I am working on one now that does. I hope to meet a number of other people here who write cozies as well as read them. It will be fun getting to know as many of you as possible. And I'm already finding out about cozy mystery authors that I didn't know were out there. Yay! I'm heading to the local library tomorrow with my list.

message 104: by Carol (new)

Carol Hi... I'm Carol and I'm from Canada and Israel. I have just written a cozy called "Long in the Sleuth", about some senior sleuths in a retirement home, and I look forward to meeting other book lovers and writers, with good suggestions.

message 105: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Hello Nat, Sandra and Carol! Welcome to the group!

message 106: by Wendy (last edited Jun 01, 2017 05:09PM) (new)

Wendy Hi, I'm Wendy and I live in Barrie, Ontario, Canada (about 2 hours north of Toronto) I've been reading mysteries for most of my life but just recently started reading more "cozy mysteries" which usually have a bit less blood and guts than some of the others. I went to the public library in a town south of me and bought 30 of their "for sale" books and all were cozies, lots of new authors were found which is great although the cozy genre has more than enough authors to keep me reading for a long time.

message 107: by A.R. (new)

A.R. Simmons Welcome, Wendy.

I'm a reader/writer from a small town in the Missouri Ozarks.

I enjoy mysteries of all kinds. The overly graphic offends me, however, as it does many cozy fans.

I think you will enjoy interacting with the members of this group.

message 108: by Becki (new)

Becki Willis Hi, I'm Becki.

I am an avid reader of all things mystery (okay, let's face it: of all things, period) and am the author of eleven books. While some of my books aren't classified as cozies, they easily could be. My cozies are part of The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series.

When I don't have a book in front of me, you can find me traveling (I'm always looking for a new book setting), antiquing (I own a small shop), and spending time with my family. My husband and I are blessed with two children by birth, two by marriage, and four precious grandchildren, all of whom are in and out of our house at any given moment. It makes writing from home a bit challenging, but I wouldn't change a thing!

I'm always looking for a new cozy series to get hooked on!

message 109: by Marianna (new)

Marianna Heusler Hi Becki,

Welcome to the group. I, too, am a cozy writer, the author of the St. Polycarp series, two zany Catholic school teachers, who solve murder mysteries. I also love reading cozy mysteries. In such an uncertain, scary world, it's nice to get lost in a world where things make sense, where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and eat a muffin with an animal by your side. Cozy mysteries make me feel proud, when I can solve the puzzle, happy that everyone has gotten what they deserve, and above all, hopeful.

message 110: by Connie (new)

Connie Shipley Ciao, from Tuscany, Italy. Discovered this Group by chance. Love to read a good mystery thriller. I'm an author myself but I'm still trying to figure out how Goodreads really works. I travel a lot so during the flights I get to read a lot.
Have a nice day !

message 111: by Tiletha (new)

Tiletha Melendez Hello! My name is Tiletha and I am trying to broad my collection of reading different types of genre of books. I remember as a teen reading a lot of Mary Higgins Clark and Agatha Christie books. Happy to be in this group to open up into different genres.

message 112: by Marianna (new)

Marianna Heusler I love Mary Higgins Clark also. I've met her many times through Mystery Writers of America and she is so lovely and so generous. She's 89 years old and still writing. An inspiration to all of us!

Mary Higgins Clark was the first author I read for mystery books. I can still remember the first book by her Remember Me when I was a freshman in high school.

message 115: by Andrew (last edited Jun 06, 2017 11:29AM) (new)

Andrew Hello everyone. I'm Andrew and I am from London. I was just having a browse and I found this group. This is actually my first group. I have been a member of goodreads for quite some time and I have not added those books to my goodreads account as I only started using the site seriously within the past few days, that's why my book count is so low, about 50!

Anyway, just checking in to say hi. I love all kinds of books although my favourite author is Stephen King. I just enjoy the escapism that reading brings. I hope to be adding many new books to my collection.

message 116: by Marianna (new)

Marianna Heusler Welcome, Andrew! You will find a lot of good suggestions here.

message 117: by Amy (new)

Amy Hello everyone. I am Amy, and I got hooked on mysteries the old fashioned way - with Nancy Drew. My mother also loves mysteries, and thanks to her I discovered sleuths like Nero Wolfe, Miss Marple, and Kinsey Millhone. I used to enjoy all kinds of mysteries, but in recent years I am more drawn to cozies.

message 118: by Marianna (new)

Marianna Heusler Welcome, Amy! I think you will enjoy this site!

message 119: by Darlene (new)

Darlene I can always use more new book friends on Goodreads. I enjoy many genres, but in particular I love a good cozy mystery, or mysteries set in another time or place. If you would like to add me to your friends, please feel free.

message 125: by Sally (new)

Sally Hello everyone!

I'm Sally and I joined this group just a few minutes ago! I'm Lebanese, so English isn't my first language! I enjoy reading many genres but lately I've been leaning towards the cozies! There's nothing I love more than being wrapped up in my comforter late at night, reading a light mystery with a bit of a romance to spice things up! So, yea.. I just wanted to say hi and I'm looking forward to discovering some new awesome series!

Nice to meet you all!!

message 126: by Jo (new)

Jo I've been a member of this group for ages now, but I don't think I ever introduced myself because I've only used goodreads sporadically.

My name is Jo. I'm from the US Midwest. I first discovered cozies around 2007ish. I tend to go through phases where I stick to one genre (I also read fantasy, romance, general mysteries, the occasional "literary" novel) for several books, then move to next genre and so forth.

Anyway, I'm hoping to become more active on goodreads, so maybe I'll be seeing more of you all in the future.

Hi Becki. While I now live in CO, I used to live in Texas. I've just finished my first cozy (a homesteading themed mystery based in CO). Sounds like we have a lot in common. Many of our kids, grandkids and now, even great grandkiddos still live in TX. I too am often traveling. I even have a travel blog (girlswantago) and I'm a house and pet sitter. I'll be heading to England this fall to sit. I'll check out your series. Best, Vikki

Mary Pat Hello. I'm Mary. Retired to Hendersonville, NC 4 years ago and got recently started on the Margaret Maron Deborah Knott mystery series. It's set in NC and really enjoy the settings, culture, dialect, and family humor that abounds. Each mystery is very believable and contains several twists. Glad I found this group!

message 137: by Santhiya (new)

Santhiya Hi Everyone,

I'm Santhiya.

I love books and the happiest while reading. One of my favorite genre is mystery and I was reading lot of cozy mysteries last year. Not so much this year.

Somehow I couldn't find anything to keep my interest. I recently read Slouch witch by Helen harper and liked it very much.

Some of my favorite cozy mysteries are from authors like heather webber, Jenna Bennett.

I would welcome good recommendations in this genre.

message 139: by Fran (new)

Fran Hello my name is Fran. I've been a mystery reader, actually a cozy mystery reader for many years. Currently I am re-reading the entire series written by Rita Mae Brown featuring Mrs. Murphy her feline in solving mysteries. I initially read the books and now I am listening to them on audio. They are great, well written, and and are true to the name of being a cozy mystery it's set in Crozet , Virginia a small town. Each book further develops all the characters. The protagonist is a post mistress who along with her feline, Mrs Murphy and canine Tucket, solve murders. Harry, the protagonist has an interesting bunch of small town friends who join Harry in sleuthing. The writing is Willy, entertaining, and the banter between the animals actually offer social commentary on people in society. It's really a fun series and I recommend it highly.

I love mystery books especially if the authors don't use a lot cussing or none at all. I love funny mysteries too. I'm looking for new authors that I can find in hardback. I would like any suggestion if anybody knows?

Thank you!
