Heather L Welcome to all the newcomers! For those who enjoy historical mysteries, you might also check out Alyssa Maxwell, Rhys Bowen, Maia Chance, or Amanda Carmack.

Additional, be sure to check out the group bookshelf. You’ll find books under numerous subjects there, such as culinary, cats/dogs, and different holidays.

Lou Collins Hi, I'm a new author of traditional mysteries and have almost finished the first draft of a cozy set in Essex, UK where I grew up. I'm excited to hear about everyone's favourite cozies and what makes them so special 💀🖤

message 953: by Anne (new)

Anne Hanson I am constantly immersed in domestic suspense books, non-violent mysteries, and an assortment of other novels. For me, it's all about the writing and the author's voice. The author's ability to build suspense just in her use of language is key. Currently reading Fingersmith by Sarah Waters and Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman.

I also am an author and will post information about my book in the appropriate section.

Thanks for having me!

You're so kind, thank you. Scottish people are known to be very friendly and welcoming, especially in rural areas where I live. I'm so glad you enjoyed your travel to my country. I've been to Rome before when I was younger and I so desperately want to go back, the food was unbelievable!

message 955: by Maubani (new)

Maubani Sarkar Hi there everyone! I am Maubani and new in this group (just joined)
Since I started reading, I have always enjoyed a good thriller/crime/adventure fiction. I abide by Agatha Christies. Poirot is my all time favourite ^^
One thing that attracted me most towards joining this group was the name!! Nothing excites me more than reading a good thriller while curling up with my pillow while its raining :)
(also i have a cat but he is not very keen to accompany me while i read; he rather idle somewhere else )

Sierra Hello! My name is Sierra and I’ve really been enjoying the cozy mystery genre as of late. I was browsing that section at Barnes & Noble a while back and I came across the A Cat in the Stacks Mystery series by Miranda James (aka Dean James). I absolutely ADORE this series about a librarian and his Maine Coon cat. I’m on the 7th book currently and this series has jumpstarted me into the genre. Besides cozies, I love science fiction, fantasy, manga, self help, thrillers, etc. I’m always looking for something new to read! I love it when I find a new series that gets me hooked! I look forward to seeing what everyone else is reading! :)

We have had a few rainy weeks and I got in the mood to watch some Hallmark cozy mysteries and was only thinking that it would have been lovely to find some discussion club or group chat for CM books.
I sporadically read CM, sticking mostly to ordinary thrillers but hope to shift toward CM a bit more.
I hope to find here recommendations for new books and share thoughts.
Happy reading, everyone!

Nina Hi! I'm Nina, and I'm excited to join this book club.
I've been on Goodreads for a while now, although I didn't really have time to use it, but I want to change that.
I'm a student and enjoy reading all sorts of books, except horror ones, + my guilty pleasure is everything about Miss Marple by Agatha Christie.
For the past few months, I've been hooked on cozy mysteries.
I'm always looking for recommendations (maybe books where the main character is not the prime suspect or suspect at all? - I want to try something new).
Looking forward to chatting about books with all of you! 😊📚

I like that idea! Most of my main characters have not been suspects. Check out my favorites when you have time on my profile.

message 989: by Valerica (new)

Valerica Hello everyone! I'm Valerica, and I'm based in Staffordshire, UK. I've never been an avid reader; I haven't read anything since I was in school, and back then, I only read because it was mandatory, lol. But this year, I've decided to make a change, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it has worked so far. That's why I've created a Goodreads account to help me stay motivated and maybe make a few friends here and there.

I'm not entirely sure yet which genre(s) I like the most since everything is new to me, but from what I've read in the last few months, I think I gravitate towards Suspense/Thrillers/Mysteries, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, and maybe a tad bit of romance if it's not too cheesy.

Feel free to send me a friend request! I would love to have some friends to exchange opinions with and share recommendations.

message 990: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Juarez Hi everyone! I’m Leslie and new to Goodreads hoping to join some great groups and make new friends!

Hoping to get to know everyone. I’m open to all recommendations 😊

I don't really understand how to reply here, but to Preston, what I mean by an English cottage style mystery is something like Agatha Christie, Margery Allingham, Dorothy Sayors, Martha Grimes. A small village, quirky characters, perhaps a precursor to the modern cozy?
