Margie Hi, I'm Margo. I discovered Cozy Mysteries a couple of years ago on a task in another Goodreads group. I've read a few, and currently working my way though CA Phipps' Maple Lane series and Agatha Frost's Peridale Cafe series. Just get such a warm, huggy feeling and they're great for reading after something heavier. Other main genres for me are crime/detective (mainly set in UK) and historical fiction. Will be watching what you are all reading to get inspiration!

J.S. Neely Hello, I'm John. I'm an avid reader of mystery books in general. I (Currently reading The Twist of a Knife by Anthony Horowitz which is excellent!)

I'm also writing my own murder mystery comedy series, Lavender and Brown - The York Mysteries which I hope to release early next year. (More details available on my website here: https://www.lavenderandbrown.com/)

I'm Interested in finding new mystery recommendations. I have a few books sitting on the bottom of my bookshelf waiting to be read, but after that, I need more!

message 904: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Blake I wanted to find a group to share what I'm reading. I love to read, especially when it's cold outside but warm and toasty inside. I am curling up with a good murder mystery, historical fiction, or something in between. I'm currently reading The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly, and yes, it's cold outside. Supposed to snow tonight out here on West Michigan's lakeshore community of Port Sheldon (just a few miles North of Holland, Michigan).

message 905: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Hi Everyone, I’m Teresa. I love reading and like nothing more than getting stuck into a new series or author. I’ve not joined a book group before and I’m excited about discovering new authors and to see what everyone is reading. It’s morning here in the UK, and I’m writing this as the sun comes up, but my cat is sleeping beside me so we’re definitely cosy!

message 906: by KaleDragon (new)

KaleDragon Hello, I'm Kale, I'm actually new to the cozy mystery novel. Usually, I'm buried in an epic fantasy or sci-fi series but sometimes I need a feel-good mystery for those rainy days.

Sunny (Jvke's version) My name is Kayla. I am 21. I am a college student and new here at GR. I love reading, music, and having fun. I'm here because I don't know anyone that likes books IRL, so I figured I could make some friends here! Send me a friend request and I will add you back. I have my own group that I started just for fun and you guys can DM too!

My favorite cozy authors are Donna Andrews, Cate Conte, Carolyn Keene, Laurie King, Laurien Berenson and MC Beaton!

But if the characters are good, I'll read pretty much any of them. Looking forward to being part of the group and getting some good recommendations!

Sharon Lynn Hello, Cozy Lovers! I love to cuddle up with a good cozy, traditional, procedural, or thriller as long as they aren't too violent. I am also an author with my debut novel out in 2022 - traditional mystery but cozy fans have given it good reviews. Let me know if you want the link. Thank you!

Donald Jay Hello, everyone. I read traditional mysteries, especially the golden-era classics, and cozies. As a former magician, I like anything with a puzzle to solve or clues to follow. I know, I look like Santa Claus. It’s the beard. My wife likes it, so who am I to argue?

message 921: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Hi everyone. So i love mysteries, cozy mysteries in particular. I also like to read thrillers but I am not into horror books. I hope to get more book recommendations and discover new authors.

If you'd like a cozy mystery with a strong, capable female lead and a marvelous sense of humor, I recommend any of the Meg Langslow series by Donna Andrews. I started with one of her more recent books The Twelve Jays of Christmas and she is now one of my go-to authors for a fun read.

message 929: by Shanna :) (new)

Shanna :) Hiii ! I am Shanna and I just started to really get into reading more often. I am a total introvert so reading a good book can just make my brain go somewhere else without leaving my house or thinking about my own life is great. I’m into reading mysteries but also a good young adult book. My favorite book I have read in 2023 so far would be Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score… I loved every single thing about it.

message 930: by Elsi (new)

Elsi Gosh. Been a silent member of this group for a while (is member colorectal word?), but kept forgetting to pop in and say hi. My name’s Elsi. Love lots of genres, but in last few years, cozy mysteries (modern and historical) have become my comfort reads.

I'm so glad I found Goodreads; before it, I didn't realize there were other people who didn't do anything but read in their free time ;).

Susan Stitt Hello everyone, I'm happy to be here. I am the marketing manager for a book publisher and we are about to publish our first cozy mystery. I'm here to learn what you readers enjoy about cozies. Thank you to the administrators, I know how much work moderating these groups can be. Happy reading everyone.

My wife has made me a lifelong fan of cozies as well so, like many of you, our library shelves are packed with our favorite authors. Glad to meet you all.

message 936: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi all, I've been reading various novels since young (mainly mystery and romance) but took a long hiatus during my adult years due to work. However, I've recently gotten back into the groove of reading thanks to cozy mysteries and have been hooked on various series. Some of these series have been great comfort reads to me and I'm keen to delve into more!

message 937: by Donna (new)

Donna Hi! I'm Donna and have been reading mysteries since I discovered Agatha Christie about 55 years ago. I love mysteries of all types, though cozies are my favorite along with the classics from the Golden Age of Mysteries. My favorite authors are Dorothy L. Sayers, Agatha Christie, Louis Penny, Ngaio Marsh. Some modern mysteries have gotten a bit too grisley for me, so I will especially enjoy books not covered in blood. Give me a good puzzle to solve any day. I founded and led a library mystery book discussion for about ten years and as I am going to be a guest host soon, I need to get familiar with some of the recent mystery series and best loved cozies.

If you have any other recommendations please let me know.

message 940: by Tiziana (new)

Tiziana Hello everyone :-)
I'm Tiziana, 51 years old from Italy ad really love reading cozy mysteries, more with my 3 cats at my side.

I started with Christie and Conan Doyle when I was 12 and continued with other Golden Age writers because I don't like too dramatic and scary mysteries.

8 years ago I casually met Agatha Raisin by M.C Beaton and loved that charater , but in Italy the cozy genre is still little known and there are just few translated authors.

When I realized that a whole universe of cozies was available in English language I told to myself : " as I studied English at school ..why don't try ? " ...so I did and since then I've met so many funny and fascinating characters !

The Royal Spyness ( by Chris Bowen ), Daisy Dalrymple ( by Carola Dunn ) and Lady Emily ( by Tasha Alexander) and Ginger Gold ( by Lee Strauss ) and of course Agatha Raisin ( by M.C. Beaton )are my favs but there are many more that I love to read from time to time.

message 943: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty Hi guys! I'm Kirsty from Scotland
I want to get into more mystery and have bought a ton of them over the years such as Agatha Christie etc.
But I'm not sure where to start, being in a reading slump sucks
So that's why I've joined!
Recommendations are more than welcomed :)

message 944: by Rhiannon (new)

Rhiannon Elton Merry meet! I'm Rhiannon, a weaver of intricate fantasy detective novels that sit on the fence between cosy mysteries and young adult mystery fiction. I've always loved writing, ever since I could, and it's my dream to find the best authors and help lift the literary community in my city (Logan, Australia), so that all future authors can come here and know they can find success too.

message 945: by Kali (new)

Kali Hi I’m Kali !

When I was little my dad used to print me out Sherlock Holmes stories to read. I grew up watching my parents shows like NCIS or law and order Svu. Surprisingly I myself do not watch reality crime shows like the first 48 or dateline or whatever. I unfortunately get nightmares quite easily so cozy mysteries are just perfect for me. I read a lot of fantasy and lately romance as well. I also have 3 cats so that’s another upside to the cozies !

Hello Kirsty, welcome aboard !
My name's Tiziana, 51, from Italy. I'm a big fan of A. Christie too and love reading Golden age mysteries but also love to have some fun with cozies, particularly when there are funny scenes or witty jokes.

__If you like slightly bizarre characters, with some flaws, but basically likeable, my favorite is Agatha Raisin ( by M.C. Beaton )

__ If, on the other hand, you love series with young female amateur detectives, from the 1920s, I adore:
_The Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen
_ Ginger Gold Mysteries by Lee Staruss
_ Daisy Dalrymple by Carola Dunn
_ Clara Fitzgerald Mysteries by Evelyn James

__ Talking about Victorian era Mysteries my favs are :
_ Lady Emily by Tasha Alexander
_ Mrs. Jeffires Mysteries by Emily Brightwell

These are just a few suggestions, but in this group you will find thousands tips and I hope you'll soon find the one that will make you passionate about the characters and stories :-)

message 948: by Tiziana (new)

Tiziana Hello Rhiannon, Kali and Lady !!

Welcome to this beautiful group, I'm here just for few days and I like it very much.

As Kali I love reading cozy and soft mysteries a watching soft crime tv series, but really don't like to hear something about real murders like in reality shows on tv news, they have the power to impress me in a negative way, they make me feel so upset, while in fiction what I am passionate about is following the investigation, discovering clues and doing a work of logical deduction through what the witnesses say and trying to find the culprit .

( a little note : I'm from Italy, so sorry for any grammar or form error you may find in post )

Thank you so much, Tiziana! I really love historical fiction so Victorian-era mysteries and 1920s mysteries would be perfect.

I forgot to say you that I was in Scotland once and I love your country and the Scots so much, I thought I'd meet colder people than Italians, instead they are the kindest and most willing to help others I've ever met in my travels in Europe!
