Take2 Hey! Another Anne George fan here!

Lisa Miller Hello All! My name is Lisa. I just joined GR and I'm so glad I did. Love a cozy mystery and the season for that is now! I have a list to keep me busy through Fall and Winter. I read a lot of darker thrillers so sometimes its nice to break away and enjoy something a little lighter with some coffee and my Labrador, Harry Barker. He loves a good who-done-it!

message 853: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Welcome Lisa :) Bring Harry along too..

message 854: by Zermeena (new)

Zermeena Welcome Lisa and Harry! I hope you enjoy GR.

Don't most cozy MCs have a dog or cat in their lives? :D Harry will fit right in!

message 858: by Cheryl A. (new)

Cheryl A. Hello, everyone! I love reading the Cozy Mystery genre the most, although I read many Clean genres such as Historical Fiction, Romance Suspense, and Christian Fiction. I may not participate a lot but will give my best!

Hi Tricia,

I love that created such a wonderful lending library for your fellow teachers. I'm a legal secretary and keep a lending shelf by my desk ate the firm. It's fun to be able to discuss the books I've read with co-workers.

message 860: by Candi (new)

Candi Hello. My name is Candi (mom to my daughter and Bon Bon to my grandson) and I'm a reader. I've been on Goodreads forever but have just started using it more in the last two years. I've mainly used it as a way to encourage myself to slow down and read more, as well as keeping track of my reading.

I love the classics (Austen, Dumas, Tolkien, Dickens, Hawthorne, etc) and re-read my favorites every year. It is just recently that I discovered the "cozy mystery" genre thanks to the "What are you reading?" section in another group and seeing what they were all reading and now I'm hooked on the genre.

I may not comment much for a while as I tend to be quiet while I get a feel for the group, but I look forward to seeing everyone's posts and getting some inspiration for TBR list (especially since I just upped my reading challenge goal from 125 to 200 for this year).

message 861: by Zermeena (new)

Zermeena Welcome Candi! This is the place to expand you TBR. Mine is overflowing and I keep adding to it. 😄

message 862: by ela :p (new)

ela :p macias Hello! My name is Ela and I’m from Spain. My mother is Chinese, my father from Holland and I was born in Holland.

I’m only 16 years old but people often tells me that I’m way too mature for having that age… Maybe it is because I read too many books in my free time… (sorry for my poor English )

Anyways, I love reading fiction, romance, fantasy and mistery

💗💗💗

message 863: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Welcome Candi and Ela! Have an enjoyable time with the group and your reading!

message 864: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Quinn Hello there! I'm Carolyn Summer Quinn. I'm an Author with five books on the market. Two are cozy mysteries for adults. One is the biography of a Broadway legendary character and two more are books for children. I write and read across many genres and am happy to be part of this group!

Mona J. (MyameeGirl) Hey everyone! I'm Mona. I got into reading cozies after being in a long reading slump. They were perfect to help get me back into reading and now I'm hooked!

message 866: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Quinn Sounds great, Mona! Nice to meet you on here!

message 867: by Kay (new)

Kay Good morning everyone from Kansas! Nice to see you here and I always look forward to posts here. It is a warm, inviting place! I love a good cozy mystery for those days where everything else has been stressful. And I get such good recommendations from this group.

message 868: by Mercury (new)

Mercury Hi! My name is Mercury and I've just gotten into GoodReads and I've been trying to find people with the same book interests of mine IRL which has been hard. So when I saw the group I knew I had to join. There's nothing like reading a good book in the coziness of your own home. I mostly read sad heart throbbing books with a soul crushing ending but also love a good mystery thank you for letting join in on this group.

Teigan ! Hi!! Im Teigan, and Ive been trying to get back into reading, but i just find i dont have enough time, yknow? anyways, i dont really have a fav genre, i guess i like YA fantasy, crime, thrillers, classics... i think id read anything so long as its got a good plot :)) i also really like poetry, music and history :)

message 871: by Chelle (new)

Chelle Hi, all! I'm Michelle/Chelle, whichever you prefer. I've been a bookworm since I was a teenager but I'm new to Goodreads and joined to make new connections and discover more titles/authors. As for my preferences, I like a bit of everything but gravitate more towards psychological thrillers, crime and mysteries. I was going to continue reading Snow by John Banville although now I'm wondering whether I should leave that for the winter so I can have a real "cozy mystery" moment :)

message 872: by Joe (last edited Oct 15, 2022 03:37PM) (new)

Joe Tallman Yo! Hello!

New to GoodReads, but an avid mystery lover and lifelong reader who’s finding my way back to fiction after some years away. I usually have one or two physical books going at any given time, but I’m also a postman, so I get in an additional 3-4 audiobooks most weeks.

Outside of reading, I am currently working on writing my first novel, although I’m still in the very early stages. After stumbling upon the “Cozy” subgenre, I’ve become a bit enamored and have been trying to read as many as I can, as I think that’s what I’d like to write.

So if anyone has any suggestions for great cozies—I’m all ears.
Also, I don’t have any GR friends yet, so thanks for having me in the group!
Nice to meet everyone.

message 873: by Linh (new)

Linh Mac Hi everyone!

I'm Linh or you can call me Lin. I've just got onto Goodreads and this group recently. Happy to make friends and read new books with you all. I'm trying my best to maintain my reading habit. I've recently love reading Haruki Murakami's, mysteries, thrillers, crime etc. But I'm also open and interested in trying new genres. I'm happy to hear your book suggestions. Thanks and Nice to meet you all!

message 877: by Arnold (new)

Arnold Otoho Hi guys, I'm Arnold. Been on Goodreads for a while but not really active. I'm quite busy these days with studying and working on some personal projects so I don't have the luxury of cozying up to read a lot, nor do I have a pet, haha... but I love mystery books. I hope to explore the genre more, and I'm happy to be a part of this group.

message 878: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Welcome Arnold!

message 879: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Leigh Hi yall! My name is jess. I lost my old account so I have to rebuild with this one. I'm a midwest girl living in Florida now. I love mysteries and I also really love cozy mysteries. James Patterson is my favorite author over all

message 880: by Diane (new)

Diane Shearer Hi, I'm Diane. I read cozy mysteries, classics, fantasy, historical romance, YA, and some non-fiction. I read a lot more dead authors than living ones. I just finished Victober on GR and enjoyed the discussion so much I thought I'd try another group. Thanks for having me.

message 881: by Heather L (new)

Heather L Hi Diane!

I’m a cross-genre reader as well. While half of my October books were mysteries, the other half were romance, classics and book two of a mainstream paranormal saga. I did read one book that fit Victober, Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola, which I liked. It was actually a fast and easy read. Since you say you read more dead authors than live ones, you might be interested in a classics group here at GR:

message 887: by Mike (new)

Mike Nemeth Hi, I'm Mike Nemeth, a retired IT exec now totally immersed in the reading/writing world (my Belgian Malinois is named "Scout", after - yes- that Scout). I love cozies because the solution to the mystery requires clever detective work and not just violence. As a writer, however, I hate Agatha Christie because she used every villain and every murder weapon before I ever began writing. So, ingenuity is a must. Very interested to hear readers' comments on why a book is enjoyable or why it is not so good.

message 888: by [deleted user] (new)

Nice to meet you, Mike, and I like your thinking concerning the necessity to use ingenuity.
All the best.

LOL, real murderers aren’t very ingenious, and I wouldn’t worry about the fact that Dame Agatha got there first. You have a new generation of readers to please, after all.

But they do have fireplace apps — you can even find ones on YouTube with a cat if you really wanted one. 😃😂

message 892: by Donna (new)

Donna Hi,
I am so much older but I still love reading books. Books of all genres. I usually have coffee or tea while reading. I find I can escape into books very easily. Sometimes I am thinking about what I have read for some time to come.
Reading is in my blood.

message 893: by Deity World (new)

Deity World Hi everyone I’m deity and love a good mystery book or series I’ve finished all the Sherlock Holmes books and now on book 8/18 of the Roy grace series feel free to add me as a friend to chat and recommendations. Happy reading.

message 894: by Ren (new)

Ren Hi, all! I'm super new to the cozy mystery genre. I always thought I wouldn't like them, then I tried a series by Nancy Warren, The Vampire Knitting Club, and was sold. haha I've since read a couple of her other series and started branching out to other cozy authors. I really enjoy her characters and I'd love suggestions of similar authors.

message 895: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Hi! I'm Matthew. I've read cozy mysteries for several years now, mostly Laura Childs' Tea Shop Mysteries and Agatha Christie (and various holiday mysteries). I recently spent some time researching new cozy mysteries to read and that's all I've been reading for the past month or so. One of the ones I checked out is The Plot is Murder, so I'm very excited to read it with this group!

message 896: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Hi, I’m Natasha and I just recently started getting back into reading. I’m new when it comes to cozy mysteries, but I did enjoy Agatha Christie when I was younger. I’m really excited to see what everyone’s favorite books and authors are and to start exploring more cozy mysteries, especially since it’s getting cold here.

message 897: by [deleted user] (new)

There are so many good cozy and brozy mystery books to choose from I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

message 898: by Zara (new)

Zara Hi everyone! I’m new to this group but wanted to say hi. I’ve just gotten back into reading after being in a slump for a few years. Started reading again back in July literally right after I graduated! You can tell what was putting me off from enjoying reading haha! I have always loved reading cozy mysteries and thrillers… I find I’m always interested in good psychological thrillers but that might be because I’m biased as a therapist!😅. The best thing is that I haven’t stopped reading since I picked it up again.🫶🤍

message 899: by Liv (new)

Liv Hello all! My name is Liv. I decided to join as mysteries have been a constant favorite of mine since I began reading. I grew up reading Victoria Thompson and Lilian Jackson Braun. My recent favorite mystery has been any book by William Kent Krueger. I am looking for new cozies and otherwise mysteries to read, so any suggestions would be appreciated!
