Patricia Hi! My name is Patricia and I have recently got back into the world of reading. I write sometimes too. Due to a lack of book clubs in my area, I've come to Good Reads. I'm open to meeting new people and making friends too!

⢄⢁✧ CheyAnn Hello, I'm CheyAnn! I love cozy mysteries. I enjoy coffee shop and any cozy mystery that has to do with food. Growing up I loved reading Nancy Drew, and the Hardy Boys.

message 804: by Take2 (new)

Take2 Hi, I'm Colleen and I guess my love for cozy mysteries started with Nancy Drew way back when!

I am still a big reader, almost all for pleasure and mystery/suspense/thriller and cozy mysteries dominate my faves. I'm looking forward to reading many of this groups recommendations.

message 805: by kaotickitten (new)

kaotickitten Hi I am Autumn. I love to ready with my Yorkies by my side. I have read all different types of cozy mysteries from big name authors to small kindle published only authors. I find myself liking this genre for the fact that it doesn’t cause me second hand embarrassment. Not that I am embarrassed by what I read, but I will often get second hand embarrassment for the characters I read and the situations they are put into. I will often have more than one book going at a time. One on my kindle app on my phone one on my kindle one and two or three paperbacks. I was taught to love reading at an early age and now have it as a fond memory refresher of people I have lost.

message 806: by JoJo_theDodo (new)

JoJo_theDodo Hello! Decided to join the group since I have discovered recently I really enjoy the Mystery genre. I am currently making my way through the Three Pines/Inspector Gamache series and I just finished a mystery by Joanne Fluke.

Hi, Autumn. I read and write with my Westie by my side. He's 15&1/2 though and not as interested in cuddling as he used to be, but he stays by my side. It's good to meet you!

Amanda Ludwig Hello! I am Amanda, I am an avid thriller reader. Last year I read over 60 mysteries. My favourite author is Shari Lapena, I love all the twists in her books that leave you guessing until the end.

I believe my love for reading helped me write my own thriller/mystery One Storey Down! If you'd like to check it out it is on Amazon, both paperback and Kindle E-book versions.

BookNerd hey, i've just joined GR and found this group. i have a question though.. what are the age rec for the books?

message 812: by Heather L (new)

Heather L BookNerd wrote: "what are the age rec for the books?"

Cozy mysteries as a rule have no gore, no profanity, and no sex scenes, so are generally suited for all age groups, from teens to octogenarians. I suggest reading the following discussion in our group:

What do you consider a cozy mystery?

message 813: by Susanna (last edited Apr 30, 2022 01:55PM) (new)

Susanna Hi, I’m Susanna. I’ve been a cozy mystery fan since I was a teenager, and finally have more time for reading. I’m also, after many years writing nonfiction, trying my hand at a cozy mystery of my own. I’m about halfway through my first draft. . .

Besides Dame Agatha (of course!) some of my favorite authors are Charlotte McLeod, Rhys Bowen, Jill Churchill, Dorothy Gilman’s Mrs. Pollifax series, Carola Dunn’s Daisy Dalrymple, and Sujata Massey’s Rei Shimura series.

I’m looking forward to chatting with you all.

message 814: by Jorja (new)

Jorja Hello! I'm Jorja, I've always loved mystery but am only now starting to get into the genre. My favourite so far is 'The Seven 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle' but I'm currently reading Agatha Christie!

message 815: by Take2 (new)

Take2 Hi Jorja! I hope you enjoy the cozy side of mysteries! How are you liking 'The Seven 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle'? I've been eyeing that one for myself.

message 816: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Hi I’m Cassie~I like to read cozy mysteries with quirky characters and great banter! I prefer stories with more humor and wit than romance, but a little romance is ok. I just started reading again after a loooong break, so I’m open to suggestions on good cozy humorous mysteries.
I live in southern Indiana with my 2 Ragdoll cats, who protest vehemently when I’m reading. My boy cat loves to chew on my books !
Right now I’m liking stories that take place in other countries and cultures, like the Siri Paiboun series by Colin Cotterill. Currently I’m trying to read as many new 1st books in the series as possible rather than sticking to just one series at a time. The Lisa Lutz series The Spellman Files made me laugh out loud, the banter was epic. I also like Carl Hiassen a lot, although they aren’t usually classified as “mystery.”
I work from home in procurement for the government ~ federal contracts are not exactly leisure reading !

message 817: by Take2 (new)

Take2 Hi Cassie,
I just added two more books to my TBR shelf thanks to your recommendations.
Cheers,
Colleen

message 818: by Gary (new)

Gary Randolph Hi! Glad to be part of the group. I love reading all kinds of mystery novels. I especially love the classics like Nero Wolfe. My most recent mysteries were The Curse of Braeburn Castle by Karen Baugh Menuhin and Chicago Swing by Gregory C. Randall. I write The Galactic Detective Series of comedic mysteries set in space. They're a lot of fun to write ... and I hope to read. They're available on Amazon.

message 819: by J. (new)

J. Johnson Hi, Gary!

message 820: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Hi everyone!

My name is Gloria and I am really happy to have found this group. I discovered cozies only last summer and I'm sorta in love with them?? hahaha. But seriously I really enjoy the mystery aspect minus gruesome details :) Usually I prefer cozies that have a lot of witty banter and a cute/cheesy romance involved....I especially enjoy love triangles 😉. I think what I like most about cozies is that it's a lighthearted read. Given what we humans have just gone through for the past 2 years, cozies provided some much needed relief and escape from the harsh reality of life. But apart from reading cozies I also enjoy Christian fiction, clean romance, YA, and some fantasy. Really looking forward to being able to meet "bookish" friends through this medium 😊

message 821: by Mary (new)

Mary Lucal Hi folks! I’m Mary and new to Goodreads but a longtime cozy lover. Working on writing my first one which will publish this fall. Excited to explore Goodreads. Where has this been all my life?

message 822: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. Hi, I am Rachel (or Rachel G. in groups with tons of other Rachels). I would guess that 80-90% of what I read are cozy mysteries. I have been trying to read a larger variety of genres the past few years but always go back to my first love the cozy mystery. I enjoy book challenges and hope to find some new series to start with this group.

message 823: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie I stumbled onto the world of cozy mysteries about 5 years ago. I was working as a librarian then and saw certain books getting checked out and in....which always caught my eye. I have read several authors and series over the past few years and got several patrons hooked on cozies, too! Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading....now I just need more than 24 hours in a day to read everything I want to read :-)

Greetings everyone!

My name is Lisa, I live in the Hudson Valley of New York and just joined Goodreads. In searching through groups, I came upon this one and thought it a great name as I do like to cuddle up with a good mystery and a certain dachshund named Eliot. I look forward to sharing books I've read and enjoyed, as well as building a reading list from everyone recommendations!

message 829: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Hi, I'm Shannon. I recently came out of a years long reading slump thanks to a chance encounter with Agatha Christie's first Miss Marple story and I've been working my way through the rest ever since. I'm still trying to work out what my current taste in books is, but one thing I'm sure of is that a mystery will hook me right away, so this group seemed like a good place to start ‍:)

message 830: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Welcome Ari and Shannon!

message 831: by Macy (new)

Macy Robichaux Hi! I'm Macy. I live in Louisiana. I love reading just about anything, but romance novels and mysteries would be my favorite. Some of my favorite authors include Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler, and Nicholas Sparks (basic I know LOL!). I've been a member on Good Reads for some years now, but never knew these little communities and groups existed until recently! I love hearing what others and have always wanted to be a part of a book club! I feel like I get to do that in some way now. I stumbled upon this group and felt like I would be right at home here! I looked forward to interacting with you folks more and hopefully gaining some new book friends!

message 832: by Madison (new)

Madison Hello there! I'm Madison; an embroidery artist with a love of fantasy and anything cozy. I'm twenty years old and I'm just now recently getting back into reading - and I love the idea of a cozy mystery, so here I am! My reading buddy is my Maine Coone Calico, Callie.

message 834: by Ryan (new)

Ryan McCoy Hey, my name is Ryan. I am 29 and from the UK, I am quite new to reading and this is my first book club, I am looking for a good crime mystery book to get stuck in to. Does anybody have any good recommendations?
Many thanks, if anybody is reading anything at the minute I would love to join in and share our opinions and have a good old fashioned conversation.

message 835: by Take2 (new)

Take2 Hi Ryan! My favorite recent mystery-crime books are the Thursday Murder Club mysteries. Another that leaps to mind is not a cozy but Colleen Hover's Verity is extremely popular.
Agatha Christie, a classic author also has several very well known and still loved books like, And Then There Were None, Murder on the Orient Express and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

Hi Ryan, I recently read A Man With One of Those Faces A Man With One of Those Faces by Caimh McDonnell.

Hilarious and definitely a good crime mystery, although I wouldn’t classify it as “cozy.” There is no violence or gore, it’s just a good who done it mystery with a cast of quirky characters. I found it engaging and entertaining ~ written by an Irish author.

message 837: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Hello, my name is Amanda (I go by Mandy) and I am 26 from the US. Recently fell back in love with books, and gravitated to Cozy Mysteries as a comfort read. I recently got back on goodreads and am excited to read and share my ideas on some of the books I read.

message 838: by Alison (new)

Alison O'Mara Hello Everyone,

I'm Alison. Just now starting to join some groups on Goodreads. I've sadly fallen behind on my reading. I am a lover of many genres but particularly cozy mystery. I also write in my limited spare time. Agatha Christie and Dick Francis are my all time favorites. I'm hoping to see some ideas for new reads here. The best cozy mystery I've read in recent memory is The Meerkat Murders. Look forward to seeing the book discussions.

message 839: by cass ♡ (new)

cass ♡ Hello everyone!
My name is Cassi and I'm excited to be here! I just recently discovered cozy mysteries when I read the book Death by Dumpling by Vivian Chien. I found I really liked them!

A little about me: I'm a Librarian and I'm going on my 8th year in a Library. I have had access to these book for a while, but never thought to try them. I used to be in a gutter where I couldn't read anything, but thankfully I'm coming out of that and I'm itching to read again!

I'm really looking forward to diving in on the next BOTM!

message 840: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Welcome Cassi - cozies are fun to read :)

Looking forward to interacting with ya'll and discovering new series to get into! :)

message 842: by Em (new)

Em Hi everyone! I'm Em! *waves* I truly love cozy mysteries. I'm usually reading several books at once (all on my Kindle), and cozy mysteries are what I save for the end of the day when I'm de-stressing. I'm a lifelong reader and also writer (of both short stories and a self-published time-travel novel partially set in the 80's, published under a pen name.) Very excited about joining this group to meet other fans of cozies and get recommendations!

message 843: by Gina (new)

Gina Hello! Mystery is one of my favorite genres. I've read most of Agatha Christie's books, Georgette Heyer, the Cat Who series as well as some of David Wishart's. I'm planning to read the Charles Lenox series hopefully by October.. Wish me luck! :D Have a nice day, everyone 🙋

Annase Hi, I’m Anna. Mysteries are in my top 3 genres, so I’m very glad to be here! It’s nice meeting you all.

message 845: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Loch Hi everyone! I recently moved and after some time in a reading block, I really want to get back into reading and become a bookworm again. I've read a couple cozy mysteries and really enjoyed them. I like the mystery part while a mainstream horror book will likely keep me up at night.
I'm really looking forward to meeting new people and finding new great reads! If anyone has any recs, especially LGBT cozies, please feel free to share.
