My name is Laura and I really love mystery novels, and obsessed with Agatha Christieˎ₍•ʚ•₎ˏ I am pretty new to goodreads, currently exploring this page, finding new friends and books! Have a great day ahead all ✧*̣̩⋆̩☽⋆゜

I'm excited to have published a new cozy mystery series entitled, "A Swim for the Dying,"an Ellie Pincrest mystery where a prominent logo designer is pitted against large real estate developers in her grandmother's quaint Long Island seaside village.
It's a near-historical cozy as it's Memorial Day weekend 1986 and the heroine is escaping Manhattan after her boyfriend of many years unceremoniously dumps her. Grandmother's estate is the safest place she knows, but soon after arriving the body of the person she spoke to on the seaplane riding out to Long Island washes ashore.
In the fast-moving plot, there's misdirection, chicanery, and a blindside climax.
Humbly thanking in advance any consideration (and reviews!) for:

We seem to have a number of new writers joining the group. As this group is first and foremost for readers, please make sure you read our group rules regarding self-promotion:

Oh how I loved Nancy Drew mysteries when I was young! Every now and then I reread one just to relive fond memories! Welcome!

I live in the N. GA mountain area and write (but I promise - no self-promotion...I adore cozy reading and that's why I am here!). Right now I am re-reading Paige Shelton's, Deadly Editions, because I read it so quickly the first run-through, I decided I needed to slow down and savor it again! Paige is one of my favs along with Nancy Atherton, Cleo Coyle, Laura Childs, Kate Carlisle, JoAnna Carl, Ann Purser and the late, great Joan Hess (those Maggody books did me in!). Nice to meet you all.....BJ

I wish I could read them again but my mother gave them away a long time ago and I have never gotten a chance to replace them.

Recently they started releasing the Nancy Drews as audiobooks and the the first few were narrated by the actress Laura Linney!

My mother got rid of lots of my childhood toys, but I absconded with all of my childhood books! My books and my cats are my treasures! I told my family that when I pass on, I want to be buried with my TBR books and a flashlight with extra long-life batteries! I don't want to be caught dead without my books! LOL!!! My family thinks I'm a bit peculiar. I say being peculiar is one of my best attributes! Peculiarity got me through 59 years and hasn't caused me too much trouble so far! 🤪😄🤣😂😀😁

I’m enjoying this discussion about all those old Stratemeyer mystery series for kids. I loved Trixie Belden. Much more interested in the Hardy Boys than Nancy Drew. I didn’t like that Nancy called her father, “Father.” Sounded snobby to me. Maybe I had something in me of my granddaughter. When I introduced her to both series, she preferred the Hardy Boys. All Nancy Drew did was “call the cops!”

Sunshine Gurl here. I'm new here as well as to the independent publishing through kdp. I hope everyone is having a successful month with sales. I am a cozy mystery author/avid reader. Just looking to make friends with like minds and swap knowledge.

As I've gotten older (70 yrs young) I've found my genre style has changed a lot. I have come to love cozy mysteries, but sometimes I'd like a hint of romance. Nothing naughty of course.
I'm joining the group so I can get some ideas of what books I might like to read.
Best regards. Annette Dahl

I am 70 too. I love a certain kind of romance. Don't most Agatha Christie mysteries have at least one romance? Have you read/enjoyed them?
One that has lingered with me is The Mystery of the Blue Train.
Not everyone likes this story. Here is my review:
The story is engaging with interesting characters. The main reason I rated it a 4 and not a 3 is because of the character of Katherine Grey. She is now my favorite (non-detective) Christie character. As for the mystery and story: I never really guessed who it was, though I think I went through just about every character as a possibility at one time or another. But she really played this one close to the vest for me.
One I just finished last night had a romance that really got to me (in a good way). Outside of the romance, it's a well written book.
The Knocker on Death's Door.

I'm Melina and I'm an avid book reader! Hello!
I can only read on my kindle now due to a disability but I'm slamming it!😉 Love Agatha Christie - was a young mum and when all my friends were out partying I was at home with my daughter and "Aggie"! She kept me going when times were hard and I've had a life long love of 20's - 60's murder mysteries.
My other love is Ska (Jamaican beat) Thanks for letting me say "Hi"! 😊 xx

I am Varrsha
I am from India

I also write the Twin Lakes Mysteries, the Golden Age of Mystery Book Club series, other mysteries and romantic suspense and novels for kids. You can read about my books and me on my Amazon page and my website: http://www.marilynlevinson.com

I enjoy cozy mysteries, but also like other subgenres. The book club often reads titles suggested by our members so that's been expanding my reading horizons. I love when someone suggests an author I've never read, I like the book, and then have a whole new series to look forward to reading.

I'm new to Good Reads too .. well like you, I joined ages ago and never used it and just recently discovered it again. I'm currently reading the Thursday Mystery Club which I'm really enjoying and recommend. I'm an author and working on a mystery series based in Italy (that's where I live). The first book in the series will be out in August, with number 2 out in Sept and number 3 out in October, which I'm excited about :) Maybe down the line your group will consider my series for reading :) Looking forward to getting to know people on here, let me know if you have any page-turner recommendations that you find! x Rosie

I'm Rosie, I'm from Ireland but live in Italy. I'm renovating a 22 room derelict villa here. Due to Covid wiping out my wedding planning business I have had lots of time to get back to my old hobbies of reading and writing. I tend to listen to a lot of audio books while working on the house.
At the moment I am listening to Stephen Fry reading Sherlock Holmes (he does it so well!), reading the Thursday Murder Club and writing book 3 in my 'Deadly Wedding Cozy Mystery' series which launches in August.
Glad to have found this group and looking forward to hearing people's recommendations :)

I believe the rights have been bought for a movie or TV series. I think it would make a great series. :)

Hi Rosie. I am in Sydney, Australia!

Hi, Vicky! I live in the brown part of the Evergreen State.

I just joined this group. I'm an artist and writer in Tucson, Arizona, USA. I read all sorts of books, fiction and nonfiction, with the exception of horror (I'm not a fan of scary!) I divide my time between art (oils, mixed media, artists' books) and writing fiction. The books I've written are 1) a private investigator mystery-suspense series (Letty Valdez) and; 2) I have a new cozy series (Cat Miranda). These are real cozy mysteries with a sweet romantic subplot (not romantic suspense but a real cozy mystery with sweet romance) set in a small town with an amateur sleuth (that's Cat).
For fun, I like to garden, to walk and hike, to listen to jazz and to hang out with dogs. (My books usually have a dog in them.) This week I'm getting artwork ready for two different art exhibits that are coming up. And I'm thinking about starting my next book.
I look forward to "meeting" you all, learning from you, and getting good book recommendations. I publish under the name C.J. Shane, my first name is Charlotte, but everyone calls me Shane (blame it on my high school chemistry teacher who called everyone by their last names). ~~Shane in Tucson

Hi Victoria. I just joined, too. I used to be a librarian, too, in my younger days (reference). Now I'm a writer and artist. Happy reading to you, too! ~C.J. Shane (everyone calls me Shane)

I am, as someone else put it so well above, both a cozy (cosy on this side of the Atlantic) reader and writer. I've been enjoying such books as Agatha Raisin, Myrtle Clover and Aunt Bessie for a long time and have now branched out with my own.

Books that I have loved include all of those by Christie, Nicholas Blake, Tey, Marsh, Rendell, James and Sarah Caudwell and others from the past.
I am following the work of Louise Penny, Donna Leon, Julia Keller, and my goal is to find new names, new recommendations, and a new series to begin. I do like the cozy and the procedural but I don't much like testosterone-fuelled books.

Mysteries are one of the genres that I prefer, although I've only read a handful of cozies. I've enjoyed the last one I read (To Catch a Witch) and am enjoying my current one (Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House) - both for a challenge in another group - so plan on reading more.
I like reading books that go along with the season/holidays, but it seemed that romance books dominated that category. I'm not a fan of romance and I've recently discovered that the cozy genre has oodles of seasonal/holiday books.
My favorite mystery writer is Carl Hiaasen, but I know his aren't considered cozies. I love how kooky his books are. And that's the best word I can use to describe them.
Despite enjoying To Catch a Witch, I'm not usually up for paranormal. I'm also not super into baking or pets, so at least my starting cozy list is narrowed a bit!

I retired recently and thought I would have lots of time for reading, but somehow my days are filled.

I am new to Goodreads and thought I'd look at joining a group or two. Agatha Christie was my first (and always) and forever favorite author although Lucy Score, Sophie Lark, Sandi Lynn are among my faves as well including romance with mystery.
Most of my reading is on my Kindle but I'm branching out to see what Goodreads has as well and trying to remember the title/author of a great mystery book I read years ago that took place either on a cruise or in a hotel that was an Agatha Christie-themed mystery hunt. So far, no luck in getting the little grey cells shifting to recall...lol.
I also enjoy historical romance, paranormal and rom-com fiction.

non fiction: art, literature, Fairy tales and science genres too - along with a cozy mystery. I read print books and ebooks both but seeing stacks and shelves of printed books makes me happiest!
