M.T. McGuire Mwahahahrgh! Just did 670 on the non-fiction and backed up all my eyebombing pictures to the PC ready to make a 2019 calendar.

Cheers

You mean ironing?

message 2454: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Not this time. Peeling veg for tea.

message 2455: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Watched part of a 'Making of' Tom Cruise MIssion Impossible featurette on Youtube last night. Don't laugh. It's research. I'm finding it hard to get started on writing because I quit at an awkward place.

If I don't write today, there will be some tearing out of hair. This place is too social!

M.T. McGuire Very little for me today. Did my minimum ten minutes before I even got up. Then there was a gas leak at McMini’s school so I had to take him home. We had a fun day and I completely missed the text at 11.30 asking me to bring him back.

Cheers

MTM

frankly communicating with parents by text is a rather silly way to communicate.
Round here a lot of parents could never get the next and we don't all live on our phone.
For a school to communicate by text it tells me that they want to tick the box marked 'communicated with everybody) but didn't particularly care whether anybody got the message or not

message 2458: by Jud (new)

Jud Especially where going BACK to school is concerned. I would probably have ignored it even if I saw it. It's too good an opportunity to have an impromptu adventure.

message 2459: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 2160 this morning. Got to stop and bake. It's cake club tomorrow!

message 2460: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones K's son got a text about his daughters' parents evening on a Sunday, with the event the following day -and all appointments already taken up. Daft, isn't it?

message 2461: by Jud (new)

Jud Parents evening on a Sunday!!! I'd be glad there were no appointments left, damned if I'm going to school on a Sunday, those poor teachers.

message 2462: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Think she got the text on Sun about a meeting on Mon?

message 2463: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Ours aren’t bad but you do tend to be inundated with them at the beginning of each term, we get emails and texts. We used to get a sheet of paper brought home but most parents never saw them until the end of term when a sheaf of undelivered papers were brought home from their little darling’s classroom drawers. So it works better than the old system but it’s still a pain.

Did a few hundred words today before I left for Sussex. Should get a bit done tomorrow although I have to hoover a doll’s house and possibly treat it for woodworm.

Cheers

Jud Kath wrote: "Think she got the text on Sun about a meeting on Mon?"

Ha! Of course, that makes more sense :o)

message 2465: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Pleased with 1135 today as I've squashed the writing in between the cake club and the flower arranging class.

Should manage over a thousand tomorrow, too. With a following wind. ;)

M.T. McGuire Good going Kath. We are off to France today so hoping I might manage my ten minutes in the car.

Cheers

message 2467: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 1104 today. Going to have a shower now! Worked up a fug.

message 2468: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Woot! 670 of the new series in the car on the way to the tunnel.

May not be s blog post this week though.

message 2469: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 1319 this morning. Not going to do NaNo this year. I'm motoring on with this anyway and I don't need any more pressure! Is anyone else doing it?

message 2470: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley Am in two minds as I am still slogging on with this edit ...... would love to work on something else for a change!

message 2471: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire I’m thinking about Nano but I have lots of different things to do so it would be making a work count rather than making a single novel. I reckon I could make 30k in November which would be a nice start to something. I have a lot of stuff to redo for the new series though because I’m pretty sure the lead character is not male, as I though but female.

message 2472: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones No NANO for me as I'm working on a project in a different genre to normal.

message 2473: by Jim (new)

Jim Ditto
As well as other stuff

message 2474: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Today it's 1152. Plus a betaread report and a review. And some emails. So, rather a lot, really! ;)

message 2475: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Yay, Kath.

message 2476: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Nice going Kath. I managed just over 1k so I’m happy.

message 2477: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 548 - just getting back into harness after my holiday.

message 2478: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones 630 on a new short, and I've just had confirmation that one of my fantasy short pieces has been taken by an anthology.

Jim Will wrote: "630 on a new short, and I've just had confirmation that one of my fantasy short pieces has been taken by an anthology."

that's cooking with gas :-)

message 2480: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Well done, Will!

message 2481: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Excellent work will!

message 2482: by Jim (new)

Jim I've managed to get 2800 words done in the last two days on the start of the next Benor story. It's the first time I've been able to write stuff other than blogs for quite a while. Been busy

message 2483: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Thanks guys. The fee is... £ 15. I might spend it all at once.

Jim, that's great progress.

message 2484: by Jim (last edited Oct 15, 2018 12:12AM) (new)

Jim I'm hoping so :-)
I'm clearing the decks a bit. I have another character and another background. I'm going to use Lauderdale and set him in the post WW1 period.
Some of it is because I love the John Buchan stories :-)
Also I have great heaps of stuff on that time, a lot of it written at that time :-)

I might even get a thriller written :-)

message 2485: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Thriller would be a great idea.

message 2486: by Jim (new)

Jim That was my thought, apparently people buy them :-)

message 2487: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton We do. I mean, apparently...

message 2488: by Jim (new)

Jim selling books is a concept I'm still getting my head around so I don't want to go making definitive statements :-)

message 2489: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I think most of us feel that way, Jim. The excitement is in the creation. I've just written 1059 words and I'm off to report back to a certain author about his latest. ;)

message 2490: by Jim (new)

Jim Be gentle with the poor sap ;-)

message 2491: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 😱😁😁😁

message 2492: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 1197 today. Just passed the 35k mark.

message 2493: by Jim (new)

Jim I did a blog post for Tallis Steelyard
It contained a school teacher :-)

message 2494: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire I’m not sure how many words I’ve done recently, but I did 870 today, 570 yesterday and the big w.i.p. has hit 90k. It’s not even half done, so I suspect it’s going to be a duo- du- duel- two books.

I find thrillers a bit boring but that’s just me and I’m sure any thriller Jim wrote would be interesting!

Cheers

MTM

message 2495: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones 807 today for me. And I've only killed one character so far.

message 2496: by Jim (new)

I'm determined to make it interesting
The problem is stopping it becoming an in depth academic analysis of the chaos in Germany in 1920 :-(

message 2497: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 1328 today.

message 2498: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Just over 2000 yesterday on the train to Kent.

message 2499: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Whoop! Only just got going today and I'm off out in half an hour. Won't be a big count. :(

message 2500: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 542. That'll have to do!
