Kath Middleton Or flower theft? 😋

message 2102: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Kath wrote: "Sounds the right length to publish by itself, Mary."

Yeh, it's 13k at the moment and it'll probably rise to about 16 and drop to 14 or 15. I intend to publish them one by one but not until I have about six in the bag. Then I can do an anthology of two threes, for Amazon and all six as a box set on the other sites for more.

I'll market them as K'Barthan Shorts.

I got bitten publishing a short at 4k which was too short, but yes, I hear of people publishing one 'book' a week and they're 20k. If you have them planned or they're not that demanding to write I can see how people do that. The trick seems to be doing a little bit every day to 'keep in touch'. so to speak.

Cheers

they're ideas I'll tuck away for the next exciting installment :-)

now flower theft would be a good one :-)

Kath Middleton 641. Must stop now. The one downside of warm weather is that I wear blouses - that need ironing if they aren't to look like rags. So - off to iron.

Mwahhahaaargh! That's the exact same reason I'm stopping! Got another 800 in the bag today. 'Short' now stands at 16k. But I need to iron and make beds or I'll have to do it tomorrow.

We get that, from our Bloom planters. Not often, but now and then some bugger takes a fancy to something. And helps themselves!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Flower theft would have been a big deal during the tulip bubble.

message 2109: by Jim (new)

Jim hmmm

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) The Black Tulip by Dumas, someone plots to steal a bulb I think?

Jim Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) wrote: "The Black Tulip by Dumas, someone plots to steal a bulb I think?"

yes I remember it vaguely from the BBC adaptation many years ago :-)

message 2112: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I hit a block again a few days ago, but got over it last night with a lovely idea.

A friend put two planters on the pavement by her front gate ... they disappeared one Saturday night. So did my hanging baskets, and three sets of green faux grass balls that I replaced them with.

People are weird.

Just got to give the cat his lunch and I’ll do my 20 minutes’ writing for today. I do 10 mins minimum, 20 mins ideally and more if I have time.

Will, good stuff.

Cheers

Makes you wish for CCTV - so you can post it on Youtube. Who steals a planter??? The object of the theft indicates some kind of higher mental processing capabilities, but the theft indicates the exact opposite.

M.T. McGuire Alicia wrote: "M.T. wrote: "A friend put two planters on the pavement by her front gate ... they disappeared one Saturday night. So did my hanging baskets, and three sets of green faux grass balls that I replaced..."

I found one of the balls the first time they went and the second time, I saw the remains of one by a road the other side of town. Basically drunk blokes kicked them half way home.

I think, ‘because they’re wankers’ probably covers the why!

message 2116: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Oh and I managed about 600 words yesterday. Today might not go quite so well, I fear I have a cold coming. McOther came home from a trip abroad the other day with an ‘aeroplane’ cold. You know the kind, really, really bad. He’s had it a week, which makes it the kind of cold I’ll have for about three years.

Will Macmillan Jones I told a serious writer friend about my 1* troll review, and he (and a collective who are writing a series) have a 1* review saying: do NOT buy, this contains malware.

Amazon still haven't taken it down!

Amazon are fucking mental. That's why I have all my books on as many other retailers as possible. The technique is different but it is still possible to sell some!

Brilliant!

message 2122: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton And I've just written 843 words - taking the WiP total to 25323.
And a review blog post. I'm a bit behind with them...

message 2123: by Jim (new)

Jim Other than the 1420 of the blog post, nothing, but at least that'll get used 'later' :-)

message 2124: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Blog post. Naught in fiction, except in the vague connection that my blog posts are mostly sort of fiction.

message 2125: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire 540 today. Not as much as sometimes, but I also did some work on a couple of courses I’m doing.

Cheers

MTM

message 2126: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 1229 - now we're talking!

message 2127: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean 400 today. Not ideal, but I'll take it - I've been too busy with editing notes from my writing group the last couple of days.

message 2128: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Congratulations, MT, Kath, Benjamin.

message 2129: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Today, I mostly wrote two sets of accounts for clients.

They probably qualify as fantasy fiction

There you go being creative again.

message 2131: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Mwahahahrgh Will. Well done anyway.

Wrote 420 which was my statutory 20 minutes squeezed in around McMini’s sports day.

Cheers

MTM

message 2132: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Any port in a storm, MT.

message 2133: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Exactly! About to do the same thing today. ;-) Statutory 20 minutes starting in 4. ;-)

message 2134: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 1515! Whoopie-do.

message 2135: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I'm at almost 2K today, and counting. That idea the other day really unlocked a whole new adventure for my poor MC.

message 2136: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I love it when that happens.

message 2137: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean 600 today so far - I'll see if I can add to it.

message 2138: by Jim (new)

Jim 1800 words and none of them blog posts :-)

message 2139: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire 800 but I was late for an appointment because I wanted to just get this bit down before I leave and ... oh shit I should have been there five minutes ago etc etc! Did 40 minutes instead of the statutory 20 in the end. Woot! New story this time.

message 2140: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Finally hit 2471

message 2141: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Go all of you. Cracking day for everyone by the looks of things.

message 2142: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones 275 today, but that will be it.

And tomorrow it's Edge-Lit! Yay!

Jim Will wrote: "275 today, but that will be it.

Give my best wishes to Alex and everybody :-)

That chap does run a good convention

message 2144: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones This year I might abandon the stall and see a panel or two while I'm there.

message 2145: by Jim (new)

Jim certainly experience shows that frankly it's a waste of time sitting at the stall when the panel is on.
Could do with going round the panels with one of those trays they used to go round the cinemas with, but selling books rather than ice cream :-)

message 2146: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones This year, I'll be selling quills and Harry Potter wands as well. (Genuine fakes, those wands.)

message 2147: by Jim (new)

Jim Will wrote: "This year, I'll be selling quills and Harry Potter wands as well. (Genuine fakes, those wands.)"

best sort :-)
For some reason I read that you were selling quilts!

message 2148: by Kath (last edited Jul 13, 2018 06:42AM) (new)

Kath Middleton I could do that! Sell quilts.
No words today. Been with my friends from work having a hair cut and lunch party. Now got to bake a cake I promised the local school PTA.

message 2149: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire I should do Edge lit one day. Sigh ... Had a busy day yesterday so only just got my 20 mins in. Did 420 words which wasn't bad.

message 2150: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Hoping to write a bit in between today's engagements!
