M.T. McGuire Wrote a 2.5k blog post today. Goes live on Sat.

message 1952: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Wow. 2.5K !!

message 1953: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Mwahahahrgh! Yeh, it's fucking long. I read it to a friend and it made her cry so I'm interested to see how it goes down. It was a reply to a comment one of Jim's friends made when he shared it on Facebook. I've quoted the comment, which I'm not sure I should have done ... not sure what the etiquette is on that.

Cheers

MTM

if somebody posts on my facebook page, it's set to go out to the universe so it's public

Even if it wasn't, I don't think that anybody would object to somebody quoting 'Mary' or 'Janet' because they're pretty untraceable :-)

I Didn't name the person, I just quoted her verbatim, explained how I took the statement - not the way it was meant I suspect - and replied.

message 1956: by Jim (new)

Jim cannot see any problem with that at all.
So when does this blog go live?

message 1957: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire In about an hour. :-)

message 1958: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I saw no problem with that at all. If you put something on a FB status or discussion, it is very different to send ing a PM.

message 1959: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Thanks for the votes of support folks.

I did 1,344 words today at the garage, while my car was being fixed. If I can do another 4 or 5k before 30th May I can send the story in to an anthology.

Cheers

MTM

Alicia Ehrhardt Way to go, Mary!

I haven't written since all the furniture got given away and everything went into boxes - and I sure hope my brain is doing something in the meantime that I can use when we're in June, and closer to something calmer.

I hear you, it's half term now so I'm unlikely to get too much writing done. Although McMini has been relaxing this morning so I've had time to do a 700 word blog post and about 1.5k of advice to a newbie writer by email. That'll probably be it for the week though.

Cheers

Will Macmillan Jones Microsoft's Windows 7 updates have ruined my laptop. Grrr

Alicia Ehrhardt Good for you - kind of you to support newbies. Out of your writing time, too. Good karma.

I'm still on travel. Finally adjusted to local conditions - and we're leaving tomorrow.

Then a three-day visit to another community, and needing to be sharp to catch any red flags, and home to a house where I have to watch out for other people's new white carpeting and walls. Aargh!

So it was really nice when I got an email this morning from one of my pre-scheduled Patreon posts, and my patron liked it and said kind words.

can you imagine if the mechanics upgraded your car, screwed it and told you that you'll just have to go and buy a new one and it's your fault for having something so obsolete in the first place

message 1965: by Rita (new)

Rita Chapman No word count today - I've finished Missing in London, Book #3 in the Anna Davies Mystery series and now I just have to promote it. Just as well because on Friday I lost my Internet and despite long phone calls was told that it would not be looked at by the Techs for 3-5 days. Can you imagine being without Internet and emails for 5 days? Fortunately it did come back earlier than that.

message 1966: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 826 word synopsis for the new idea I got taking a pic on holiday (same thing happened last year!) and 718 actual writing. I'm off again!

message 1967: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Another 600 ish. I'd have done more but I got busy ish.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Lot of ishing there Kath!

message 1969: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton That's me! Ish.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Do you need a handkerchief?

message 1971: by Tim (new)

Tim Or an ish-oo?

message 1972: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton That's not an ish-oo! 1100 today.

message 1973: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire I've written about 4,000 words so far this month and I can tell you, with the month I've had, its an achievement.

message 1974: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I've just put another 1500 or so onto the fourth sci fi book, so now it's over half way there.

message 1975: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I've written 818 words on the new idea. Total now at 4325. I should go on holiday more often!
It's set in the early 19th century and I find my mode of speech settling into Jane Austen style. Husband keeps looking at me gone home!

(I know it's not Austen, but couldn't resist the chance to post this)

message 1977: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Haha! Seen it before, of course. Strangely (or maybe not) I love Austen but never really liked any of the Brontes.

message 1978: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 701 today. That's taken is just a squeak over 5k.

message 1979: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean I'm too bogged down in editing and promotion and need to get back to actual words. Only 100 each over the last couple of days.

message 1980: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 726 words today. Progressing nicely.

message 1981: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Nice going Kath. Did about 3k this week but it was a blog post and a newsletter. Another newsletter required next month then I've breathing space to do some writing.

Cheers

MTM

Kath Middleton I don't write blog posts very often on the principle that as I rarely read other people's (I'd rather read books) I assume people will just scroll past mine.

Will Macmillan Jones Kath wrote: "I don't write blog posts very often on the principle that as I rarely read other people's (I'd rather read books) I assume people will just scroll past mine."

Funnily enough, I think the same way about my blog. Especially as I don't think I could make it as interesting as Jim's blog

message 1984: by Jim (new)

Jim you need more sheep :-)

Actually Will your blog could be utterly fascinating.
Alas you're not allowed to actually write about your clients :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Jim, on the other hand, is unlikely to be sued by a sheep.

so far it's never happened ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Watch this space...

message 1988: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 630. Off out for lunch soon.

message 1989: by Jim (new)

Jim yesterday I did two blog posts AND about 500 words in the next, and did another 500 this morning :-)

message 1990: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 706 words and now the gardening calls. Baked three boiled fruit cakes while I 'cooked' the story, too.

message 1991: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Today I wrote the most appallingly bad joke. Even by my standards. Now I'm too ashamed to touch the keyboard

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Pour some bleach on it!

message 1993: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones It would probably better to bleach my mind

message 1994: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean Only 100 words yesterday due to sick dog worries and having to visit the dentist.
I'm hoping today I can get back up to speed.

message 1995: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 631. Off out for lunch!

message 1996: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 536. Got a late start. They add up, though!

message 1997: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Double book launch day for me. The Space opera series goes live today, and one of the stories is in an anthology that's just out but being formally launched in Waterstones Oxford later today.

So no writing.

message 1998: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean A Waterstones launch is fairly exciting though, Will - hope it goes well!

message 1999: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 1148 today. That's more like it!

message 2000: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Nothing but an occasional blog post. I despair! Can't wait to be resettled elsewhere, and writing again.

Congratulations, Kath.
