Tim Lol, mostly I don't!

message 1502: by Tim (new)

Tim I'm going to try and get back onto the 250 words a day plan for November. It won't be anything like the scale of NaNo, but if I can sustain it, at least it gets me writing . . .

BTW, this is the project I'm finishing up:

Please feel free to like my work work fb page too ;) https://www.facebook.com/TangoAlpha3d/

message 1503: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Cool. I wish i could do that kind of stuff.

message 1504: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) I'll like your page Tim but I'll be disappointed if there aren't occasional cat pictures.

Tim Sigh. Cat pictures.

That's a step up from my sketchup efforts!

message 1508: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Anyone off the nano mark yet? Mwahahahargh no, me neither. Let's see what today brings.

message 1509: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I'm not doing NaNo this year. I have a busy month with several days out (away from home) so I know I won't keep up, and that will annoy me SOOOO much!

message 1510: by Jim (new)

Jim yes November is going to be busy for me anyway, I'm going to struggle to get blog posts done and stuff edited

message 1511: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I've got a queue of beta reads and proofreads at the moment too. I'm just a goil who cayn't say 'No'!

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly I’m on NaNo at the moment with Part 3, and so far have managed my 6k (2k per diem) target despite having today off for Mrs Gaff’s birthday. I feel almost virtuous!

message 1513: by Tim (new)

Tim I managed 10 words yesterday (then the keyboard died!)

message 1514: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Oh heck, Tim!
Happy birthday Mrs Gaff! Xx

message 1515: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Bummer Tim, nice one Gaff. I have done 2850 or something so I suspect I'll fall short this year. It was writing day today but I only managed an hour instead of two. Still it's coming along.

Cheers

MTM

message 1516: by David (new)

David Hadley NaNo is something that doesn't appeal to me .

On the current 1st draft, I have the Scrivener Session target set at 1100 at the moment, and I am hitting it more or less every writing day.

I am going to try upping it to 1200 from next week and see what happens.

However, I don't have time for much more than the 1st draft stuff now that accountancy season is getting underway. So it may be some time before the next book is finished.

message 1517: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire 3193 today. I like this plotting thing. It really helps.

message 1518: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Well done! Whoop!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild M.T. wrote: "3193 today. I like this plotting thing. It really helps."

Is it a Gunpowder Plot?

message 1520: by Patsy (new)

Patsy Collins I'm doing NaNo as well as trying to keep up with my usual writing stuff. I'm on target with NaNo...

message 1521: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Go Patsy! Thanks everyone and Gingerlily, not exactly at least no gunpowder but plot, definitely! ;-) I'd forgotten how much I love writing fiction.

message 1522: by Jim (new)

Jim I've not written anything but I've done edits and sent the second collection of blog tales 'And sometimes I just sits?' off for somebody competent to check it out :-)

message 1523: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Jim wrote: "I've not written anything but I've done edits and sent the second collection of blog tales 'And sometimes I just sits?' off for somebody competent to check it out :-)"

Still progress.

message 1524: by Jim (new)

Jim oh yes
And when the tens of thousands of adoring fans queue up for hours in the rain to buy their copy I'll have that warm glow of success ;-)

message 1525: by Patsy (new)

Patsy Collins Editing and getting feedback are parts of the writing process - important parts.

message 1526: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Mwahahahargh I did a huge mailing today but nothing on the book. When the two hour window came I realised McMini had some homework he needed help with.

message 1527: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Tomorrow is a new day. :-)

message 1528: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ I'm NaNoing as well this year. First couple of days were brilliant, next few not so great but I'm not too far behind schedule and look like I'll beat last year's count which is my main goal!
I'm writing something new because I've stalled a bit on my others, but I'm also including any words I write for my essay that's got the first draft due mid November.

message 1529: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Spent 5-6 hours today writing - and may have changed 5-6 words. I hate restarts - and I have to do something else tomorrow, too, so I'll be starting again after that.

The scene is shaping up a lot stronger than when I started, but it would be nice to have both time and brain at the same time.

message 1530: by M.T. (last edited Nov 05, 2017 11:23PM) (new)

M.T. McGuire Go Claire! I'm counting work on two novels so if the fiction stalls I have something to fall back on. After a massive push from 10-11:30 last night I'm on 10k. I will probably bin vast tracts of it when I'm done but it's there.

Alicia, I sympathise. That's one of my biggest challenges too - combining days when I have some creativity with time or energy levels to do something about it.! I've spent the last year, just about, working on ways that I can be me, with my life, and write.

I think I may have found a solution ... Possibly. Or at least a way to work smarter... Maybe. My fingers and toes are crossed.

message 1531: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I'm not doing Nano either, but trying to finish this third sci fi novel.
Had a bit of a block, but I'm over that now and adding at the standard Nano rate.

Despite tax season arriving.

message 1532: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I thought death and taxes were always with us!

message 1533: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Yes, just sometimes they make their presence felt a bit more than they should!

message 1534: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ I've hit just over 6000 words and therefore beaten last year's total (and the highest so far until now!) so I'm really happy about that. Having finished my first draft of my essay, I've figured a good way to get words down but also revision done..... one of the things I have to do for my practical exam is a physical assessment. Conveniently, the medic on the team in my NaNo WIP is in a village that needs various medical assessments done. So for those scenes, of course I have to write down everything he does and is looking for! There are a few sections that aren't going to make it if and when I edit!

message 1535: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Slow but steady progress into my final chapter of the third sci fi romp

message 1536: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Still just ahead of where I should be to keep up. Did the standard target today but managed enough at the weekend to account for enforced non writing yesterday. May slip a bit this week though. My 60k normal book is going to be another 100k behemoth. hoping it might be quite good though. I'm getting into it.

Cheers

MTM

message 1537: by Tim (new)

Tim Remember the old days, where Windows used to get so screwed up that we had to reformat and reinstall every few months? Well my Mac got like that yesterday. So I've spent a day doing the traditional 'reinstall everything from scratch'.

I could have just restored from my Time Machine backup (done that before), but that would just have put the 5 years worth of crud back that's been progressively gumming up the works. Sometimes the old ways are the best!

Also formatted the hard drive with the new APFS file system. Nothing really to report there - still works from the user's POV.

Still finding there are things I need that I haven't put back though!

message 1538: by Jim (new)

Jim I did another Tallis story, which isn't a lot but it's the only thing I'll have written this week because I've been out on the road every day

M.T. McGuire Tim wrote: "Remember the old days, where Windows used to get so screwed up that we had to reformat and reinstall every few months? Well my Mac got like that yesterday. So I've spent a day doing the traditional..."

Mwhahaaaargh! The old days? My computer can't read the plug in hard drive, or print anything and with every Windows update something new ceases to function. I have to do the same thing myself, it's just that I lack the spare thousand hours that'll take me!

message 1540: by Jim (new)

Jim I am so avoiding Windoze 10!

message 1541: by Patsy (new)

Patsy Collins I did 2,500 words which weren't part of my NaNo project - but still managed to keep NaNo on track.

I deserve wine!

message 1542: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton You deserve spirits! Cheers!

Top going.

Kath wrote: "You deserve spirits! Cheers!"
Amen to that.
Jim wrote: "I am so avoiding Windoze 10!"
smart plan!

I wrote bugger all today and will do eff all tomorrow. Bought a new metal detector so had to learn how to use it today add I'm out on a dig tomorrow. Then Mon and Tues I have to read the instructions on filing a lasting power of attorny over my parent's health and fill it in. that's this month's gargantuan shite that's cropped up. At the same time I'll take that if it means the second turd missile I managed to dodge this week stays dodged. Wednesday is visit the parents day. Thursday is make a birthday cake for 15 for mums birthday and Friday is ice it. Sat is go to the birthday party. Sun is cook lunch. Then on the following Monday I will type up all the bits I will have scribbled down while doing the cake etc. So no official progress will be made but things will happen and if inspiration levels are maintained I should have loads to write up the next week.

Cheers

MTM

message 1544: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones No real progress over the weekend, though I have decided on a new project to tinker with

message 1545: by Tim (new)

Tim November's halfway through already, whatever happened? Did I blink and miss it?

message 1546: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I think I fell asleep for a day and it shot past

message 1547: by Jim (new)

Jim Will wrote: "I think I fell asleep for a day and it shot past"

I was out but because I walked there I had chance to think so I think I've got something for Tallis to finish off the next collection of stories ;-)

message 1548: by M.T. (last edited Nov 15, 2017 11:45PM) (new)

M.T. McGuire Surprisingly, after typing up some scribbled notes, and dumping them in on Tuesday, I'm only just behind the curve. 23k

Cheers

Alicia Ehrhardt Have written NOTHING fictional for days - have some life stuff complicating the part where my brain has enough energy to figure out why a scene seems flat. The combination is deadly.

But normal. And common. And it always works out eventually.

I think that makes me a realistic optimist.

message 1550: by Tim (new)

Tim Sigh, yet another month where I'm saved the expense of paying for a Bookbub . . . ;-/
