Will Macmillan Jones I too hate writing blurbs.

Perhaps we should have a blurb support thread?

message 1102: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham Or a blurb swap? write each other's?

message 1103: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton The thing is, you need to have read the book to know if the blurb's any good. I know it's not a synopsis but...

message 1104: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham I don't think we should bother with the whole reading-the-book-before-writing-the-blurb thing. I think we should just write blurbs and pass them around. If someone sees one they like for their book, they can use it. A bit like some of those generic bookcovers you see on websites, but more fun (although some of the kilt-ripping book covers have given me a laugh).

message 1105: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Ugh yes. Blurbs are the pits. Always like pulling teeth.

I'm so bad at blurbs that if we do this and I see a blurb someone else has written that's good, I'll write the book to go with it!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Oh, so tempting.... how about this...

In a world where humour has been banned, and a laugh could send you to prison, a young girl decides she wants to be a comedian. How can she achieve this? And is it really worth it, or should she become the sewage worker that her parents want her to be? Follow this brave youngster in her desperate quest to bring laughter back to a world that is Dead Serious...

message 1108: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton with added googly eyes...

I've probably already done that one. Snortle!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild But did you call it Dead Serious? I'm quite proud of that name :)

message 1111: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire I'm not surprised. I'd nick it but it would have to be a whodunit about comedians.

message 1112: by Gingerlily - The Full Wild (last edited May 19, 2017 04:10PM) (new)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Go ahead - you're welcome to it - but I want an Acknowledgement.

Or you could set it in a world where everything is joking all the time and you have stand-up seriousics!

message 1113: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Mwahahaaaargh! That's making my head hurt.

message 1114: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Well ... I managed a 1,000 word blog post. That wasn't bad.

Will Macmillan Jones Now well over half way, despite a respite to rewrite the latest Horror novel

message 1116: by Jim (new)

Jim I'm writing Tallis anecdotes at the moment, he's got a book launch coming up on the 1st June and I'm making sure plenty of bloggers have something for the day :-)
Anybody else with a blog want Tallis to make a contribution?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild I read that as Tallis antidotes!

message 1118: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I'm free.

I should be honoured if Tallis would condescend to visit my humble blog.

message 1126: by Tim (new)

Tim I recently read a story where the protagonist was called Tanis, and was female. Had me very confused!

message 1127: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt I seem to be back. Finished a 1242 word scene today which was started two days ago, however you want to count that.

I was worried. And I'm still going to have to ask someone if anything has changed in my writing, because I honestly can't tell. I feel different.

message 1130: by Kath (last edited May 23, 2017 05:23AM) (new)

Kath Middleton 162 words today and 104 yesterday but now I'm at the end of the already written stuff. I ditched this to write something for NaNo and now I want to take it up again. I know how it's going to go so I just need to do a bit of planning and I'll be off again. It's at 46k already but it has some way to go.

message 1131: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham Hard to get back into things sometimes!

message 1132: by Kath (last edited May 23, 2017 06:03AM) (new)

Kath Middleton That was the point of going through it so thoroughly. I'm in there now and I want to push forward.

message 1133: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Half term starts soon so unless I can wrote something tomorrow that's it for another two weeks. Ho hum.

message 1135: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 600 words - cut off in their prime as I'm going out for lunch! (Not all bad news, then!)

message 1136: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire They say you should always stop in the middle of a scene. I'm one decent session away from finishing a short story.

message 1137: by David (new)

David Hadley I hope to get back to it, now the jury business is out of the way - it is amazing how knackering it has been. But there is the bank holiday next week, we may have to help daughter no.2 move house and I have been told I am going on holiday soon too.

So I have no idea when I'll get back to whatever it was I was writing before.

message 1138: by Jim (new)

Jim Well looking at the last week or so, most of what I have written has been Tallis Steelyard stuff for other people's blogs, getting ready for the blog tour to mark the release of the next Tallis Steelyard book.

I just totted up what I've written and there's about 9000 words of the stuff!
So in theory, following this business model, the stuff I write to promote on three books should just about fill a fourth :-)

Now I've still got to write my own blog post for the launch but Gingerlilly gave me the picture which has inspired a story.
If there is anybody out there who feels their blog has been sadly neglected, just give me a shout

I'm on. Ping it over! ;-) I'll probably do a special midweek post, or I can schedule it for whenever it's meant to go out and avoid posting any of my own drivvel that day!

Cheers

message 1140: by Jim (new)

Jim I'll get on with it :-)

message 1141: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I'll play. I have a blog tour on Tuesday next week and I'm off on my hols the following Sunday (just for five days) but if there's a suitable date, let me know.
