Alicia Ehrhardt I wrote maybe 50 words of actual usable fiction today; we'll see if any of it makes it into the final version of the current scene.

The exhaustion level is amazing - not commensurate.

message 1052: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Slow weekend, just a couple of thousand. However, in better news I have sold two poems to magazines (I know, I nearly fell over) and a section of the sci fi novel to an anthology. All for actual money! Not a lot, but still.

message 1053: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley Well done Will!

message 1054: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham Picking away at this novella when I get the chance. The folk song composer liked the words, so we're looking at more collaborations, but that seems to use a different bit of the brain.

What's that actual money stuff, Will? It sounds good - well done!

message 1055: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Go Will and commiserations to Tim and Pam. There was a parents panic this week so I've written nothing. Maybe I will fix that tomorrow. Here's hoping.

Cheers

MTM

Will Macmillan Jones Parental panic sounded awful. Glad it turned out well in the end, Mary

✿Claire✿ Does dreaming I've written loads count? Because that's pretty much what I was dreaming last night!!

Definitely. Take what you can get!

message 1059: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton I sometimes dream about a story I'm convinced I've written but when I wake up it doesn't ring a bell... and then I can't remember what it's about.

message 1060: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ That's the problem, I can't remember what I wrote!!

message 1061: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Kath and Claire ... wishful thinking?

Will, this sort of thing happens from time to time but less regularly than it did, thankfully. I've kind of got used to it though and to be honest, everyone everywhere I've dealt with, apart from the scammers, has been absolutely sweet. It gives me hope for the human race at a time when I, frankly, despair of us! ;-)

Cheers

MTM

message 1062: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones 'I was asleep beside you when you dreamed THAT?' K said to me the other month...

I make a point of getting up in the night to write down any interesting dreams before i forget them

message 1063: by Jim (new)

Jim Amazing the ideas that do work when you write them down :-)

message 1064: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ I have written down some ideas for short stories though!!

message 1065: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones This new sci fi book is almost at the half way stage, now. Hoping to finish it by the end of the month.

message 1066: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire My short is getting more complicated. It's turning into the nascent beginnings of how the K'Barthan Underground and the Grongolian version first begin to find out about one another.

On the up side there's a simple little short involving The Pan of Hamgee chugging along nicely.

Onwards and upwards.

message 1067: by M.T. (last edited May 12, 2017 09:57AM) (new)

M.T. McGuire Yep, I've done just over 1,000 words on the story of how The Pan of Hamgee tried to top himself. I know what happens, too, so it's just a case of writing it up. I'm stopping now though as McMini has come in here to play with his lego, although so far, the main mission seems to involve farting at me.

Cheers

MTM

Gingerlily - The Full Wild Just wait till you're really famous and the have a Pan of Hamgee lego figure!

Holy smokes yes! How cool would that be! Ooops I think I might have just done a little bit of wee!

The short story about him - and this one will be a short - has hit 2.1k now. That and 400 words on the other one is all I've done this week. But I'll take that. It's about 500 words each day, which is my target, I just prefer to wait until Friday and do 2/3 of it in one sitting. ;-)

message 1071: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones OMG! Can you imagine The Banned Underground as lego figures????

message 1072: by Jim (new)

Jim The question is not, "Will Mary and Will weaken?" The question is, "Have they already contacted the company to put in their specifications?" :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild So when are we going to see a lego Tallis?

message 1074: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham And Mutt and Benor??

message 1075: by Jim (new)

Jim I must admit it's something that genuinely never occurred to me before now!

message 1076: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire I'm still imagining The Pan of Hamgee with his hat!

message 1077: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones The second sci fi has now blossomed to over 21K!

message 1078: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham Will wrote: "The second sci fi has now blossomed to over 21K!"

With my new-found authority I can tell you firmly that that is a novella!

message 1079: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones It just needs to grow up into a novel, now.

message 1080: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Water it well and feed it bullshit. ;)

message 1081: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Today I have been mostly clearing up sick. Actually it's not too bad, poor wee soul, he's thrown up 16 times in the last 24 hours. Today, after eating nothing and not hurling for four whole hours I gave him a flask of tea to sip and one pineapple chunk. It came straight back. Not sure how I am going to explain it to the library, two of the books have cleaned up beautifully but one is ... different.

A lot of washing done.

Jam made.

Nothing written.

M.T. McGuire A surprise 400 words and just saw your comment Kath. :-) made me chuckle.

message 1084: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Works for me ;)

message 1085: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones I'm thinking of it like an unruly teenager, that needs a little time (and substantial amounts of alcohol) to grow up

message 1086: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire Holy shizzle! 3,050 words. Floored. But dead chuffed.

message 1087: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton Oh, well done!

message 1089: by Kady (new)

Kady Monroe Just over 300 words today, not great, but better than yesterday's zero, lol :)

message 1090: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Going great guns, Mary! Well done

message 1091: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire none today yet though. I am at the doc's worth my micro vomit comet. 32 chuck ups and rising since Sunday.

message 1092: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire 1235. I am plutzed but somehow managed to get my arse in the chair and do two hours when we got home from hospital. McMini is OK and a lot better temporarily while the anti sickness drugs are still in his system. We are stuffing him with high energy sugary boiled sweets and drinks to keep the blood sugar up.

message 1093: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt A good day. The plumber is coming, so I got going right away, and managed 1156 almost finished words - most of a new scene - in one fell swoop. Okay, very SLOW fell swoop, and all the marks it had to hit were already in place, but this is very fast for me.

Given the drought I've had going due to meds, this is confirmation they're out of my system, and I'm slowly becoming myself again.

Much appreciated. I'm SO behind.

message 1094: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones Now almost at 25K on the sci fi.

message 1095: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton 92 words today, but they were the last few in this read-through. It's gone back to my friendly copper to check the changes then it'll be ready for the editor.

Woot! Great going.

message 1097: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt Thanks, MT.

It actually turned out better than I expected: this is the first time I've started a scene in the morning, and finished it by late afternoon!

1628 finished words; sort of. Will go through the chapter as a whole before sending anything to a beta reader, but it felt good to just start, and keep going (through several small meals and three naps).

Hope I get more of these days.

So do I!

McMini is now very much better so there will be no access to the computer for the next four days until school on Monday. Lots we can do to keep us occupied though and I've done this week's writing target so that's alright. :-)

Cheers

message 1099: by Kath (last edited May 19, 2017 07:03AM) (new)

Kath Middleton Written absolutely loads but none of it - tell a lie - six words - is on a book!
Still, that one's done, till my editor tells me otherwise. That won't be till December!

Wrangling out a blurb for the next to be published at the moment. Definition of brain-ache!

message 1100: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham Finished the first draft of the novella this morning and am reading it through. Remembered I probably ought to write a short story in the other series soon, so my mind has skipped off to that and doesn't want to think about the novella any more.

Not writing a blurb at present, though, I'm glad to say!
