Elaine Howlin Welcome to the group Adam. I love those shows too. Both the True Blood books and show went a bit downhill near the end, I feel. I enjoyed each at the beginning. Love Buffy!! I'm re-watching season 7 at the moment.

I'm a dark fan and author (don't hold it against me). I love Anne Rice's stuff, Edgar Allen Poe, Justin Cronin's The Passage, Buffy and True Blood (tv show rather than the books, though)...."

Hey Adam,

Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors. I also really like Edgar Allan Poe. I also like the True Blood tv show. I haven't seen the Buffy tv show yet, but I like the humor of the movie.

message 407: by Kitty-Lydia (new)

Kitty-Lydia Dye Hi, I'm Kitty-Lydia :) I'm a writer, reader, artist and gamer, so my hands are never still! I love fantasy, horror, sci-fi and historical (basically anything with a hint of the fantastic). My first vampire book was Bram Stoker's Dracula, and I got into paranormal romance vampires through the Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries. Hopefully I'll make some new friends and discover books about vampires in all different kinds of genres <3

message 408: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Hi Kitty-Lydia...welcome to the group...it sounds like we have some common book interests....the group is great...looking forward to chatting with you!

Dee Welcome Kitty!!! We find it our mission in life to add to people's TBR pile. We take that mission seriously. The Vhat are you reading thread is the one that gets me the most. Have a look around and just jump right in where ever you'd like.

message 415: by Katherine (last edited Dec 14, 2016 01:09PM) (new)

Katherine Hi, I'm Katherine and I love/enjoy a lot of genre's and I have over 700 fav books as I easily get addicted to things, including books... I'm not apologizing for that. lolz

I love to read horror, fantasy/paranormal, Science fiction, historical fiction, romance, comedy/humor, children's fiction, and YA. But I'm always on the look out for new books to read and genres/sub-genres because why not broaden your horizons. The reason why I read so much has a lot to do with my obvious enjoyment of it as well as I also read to my younger sisters.
Because I get obsessed with the things I enjoy I usually never get bored, Ironically, most of the time I get bored is when I can't decide on one thing to do. I love to draw, paint, sewing, crocheting, photography, watch TV (love Once Upon a Time, and The Walking Dead), playing games (I love King's Quest and Assassin's Creed - I also have the books too...), writing (for myself, lolz), and I like to write poems.

I love all types of book formats like my kindle, audio books, manga, graphic novels, paperback and hardback. My TBR will never stop growing so I hope I can at least keep up with it. What I'm really existed to read in 2017 is The Chronicles of Narnia and Mary Poppins: The Complete Collection.

I think this is enough for you guys to-know-me and I love to talk/gush about books so gush right back at me, I don't mind!

message 416: by Elaine (new)

Elaine Howlin Hi Katherine! I love Walked Dead too. I used to watch Once Upon a Time but I got a bit tired of people going from bad to good to bad to good again!
I like to read different genres too but mainly PNR and UF.

message 417: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda Hi, Katherine. Wow, you have a full life of activities ad likes! I don't even do half of what you do. I just love reading.

Welcome!

I know what you mean, it can be frustrating when the characters go from one side to the other all the time, I think after the fourth time changing from good to bad or the other way round, the writers should just pick one side that character will always be on or be in the grey area, in between.

Hahahaha, what can I say - I live to be difficult and unique! So when people come up to me and say 'what's your fav movie/book/ect.' I'm like well here's a small list of thing I enjoy but there are still so many more things I enjoy. Want to hear them?
And then they back away from me like nooooooooo, I get it. Like I'm some kinda freaky star *hums some kind of super star song* I love messing with people like that - its how I roll. hehehe.

WELCOME!

message 421: by MadameZelda (new)

MadameZelda Katherine, usually people ask me what genre of books do I read?

The I rattle ofsome contemporary romance, chick lit, humor, sci-fi, fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, cozy mysteries. I'll read NA, YA, depending. No nonfiction, no wars, nothing historical, nothing depressing.

Then they ask no more which is great! I think people assume there is only one type I like.

message 422: by Namita (new)

Namita Welcome Katherine.

Yeah, I think a lot of people think that mostly everyone else they meet have very high standers on the things they like or will only read/watch things of a certain few genres and not branch out of their comfort zone, but the thing is I've found more things I enjoy/love to read this way, that out way the things I tried that I didn't enjoy.

Yeah, it looks like I will be helping others with adding more to their lists. That's fine, keep reading in your zone!!! lolz

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ I've been a member of this group for awhile now but haven't introduced myself. My name is Angie. I'm from the Bipolar state of Pennsylvania. I live in an area known as Central PA where all things Steelers and Penn State fans obsess over. I may live here but not a big fan of either much to my fellow Pennsylvanian's dismay over not that I care all that much.

Some of my favorite authors are Edgar Allen Poe, Anne Rice, Jim Butcher, Tina Folsom, and many others. I typically read these genres Young Adult, New Adult, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Paranormal Romance, Mystery, Thrillers, Suspense, Horror, Erotica, Poetry, Historical Fiction, Fiction, and maybe Biographies,

message 428: by Nadine (new)

Nadine Parker Nice to meet you Angie! I also like Edgar Allan Poe and Anne Rice. We also share some of the same favorite genres. However, I am not a fan of non-fiction so I probably wouldn't read the biographies though.

message 429: by Dee (new)

Dee I have the same problem, Angie!! I'm from Green Bay and don't do football. Packer fans are insane!! I have learned that durning a game is the best time to shop. I was in Iowa once and there was some kind of football on so I went shopping....it was not dead...I asked someone why they weren't home watching football..seems it was a college team. Who knew!!

message 430: by PNJ (new)

PNJ Hello to everyone! I am a HUGE horror, paranormal, things that go bump in the night.......or did they kind of girl. I have been a member for awhile now, but I've had a couple strokes at my young age an d so I am just now getting back into trying to be social. I do have a hard time with chat, but please feel free to PM me if I don't respond, as sometimes I miss things. I am excited to be hanging around with fellow night dwellers, and maybe earning a badge or two, as I don't think I've ever earned one.

Feel free to say hi, friend me, book recommend to me.... and I will do the same.......I just can't promise that I won't send a little something extra to help haunt those oh so sweet dreams of yours....

My book-a-holic, horror-ific self can't wait to play with you......

message 435: by PNJ (new)

PNJ Thank you all! I hope my reading list grows and grows. I've had a few strokes (and I'm not that old) just recently that have left me bedbound. I am able to see to read but that's about it. I am not sure how to make threads for hearts and new books, but I can add a bookshelf and I would love all the help possible and as much as you guys wanna suggest to read! I do miss things in chat, so most other group members PM me if new challenges or new books or new topics to gab on haha. I'm so glad to find a horror thread, as it is my first love!

message 436: by Dee (new)

Dee Janet, my computer has been giving me grief. I will created you a heart sometime this weekend, if not tonight. I never miss anything... I hate them little red notification numbers so when I first join a group, I have to read everything till all the little red numbers are gone....it's a sickness. We'll keep adding to your list, no worries there.

Make sure to check out the Vhat are your reading thread. That's the thread that is trouble to everyone's TBR pile.

message 437: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Hi everyone,
I'm Barbara and I read almost everything - except non fiction which I absolutely hate. Paranormal anything is my favorite with mystery a close second and romance in third place.

message 438: by [deleted user] (new)

welcome!

message 439: by Dee (new)

Dee Welcome Barbara!! Thanks for joining!! I'd like to say, we'll add to your TBR pile but I've seen your pile...lol. It just might be two piles!!

message 440: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Hi, my name is Ashley. I'm 26, though I've always loved to read from a young age--I was probably one of the only kids who enjoyed book reports, haha.

I enjoy fiction the most, be it fantasy, romance, mystery, sometimes horror/thriller. My soft spot has always been for Vampires and the supernatural/paranormal, however.

I have a black cat named Felix who is my furbaby. <3

When I'm not reading, I like to play video games (usually ones with a rich story and/or RPGs), collect Breyer horses, write, and color in those nifty adult coloring books they have out now.

Fun fact: My hair is naturally very curly, but used to be straight and blond until the age of 6!

Anything you'd wanna know, just ask! :)

message 441: by Dee (new)

Dee Welcome Ashley!! I liked writing book reports...lol. Course, I liked reading the book more!!

We have tons of stuff going on around here. We have like a bazillion new challenges starting on the first of January...how's the time to sign up.

Your TBR pile will grow like crazy around here. It's what we do.

Have fun!!

message 442: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Are all of the challenges listed on the main group page? Still learning this site.

message 443: by Dee (new)

Dee Yes they are....I'm pretty sure they are called "Blood Challenge". I'd do a link but I have issues doing that on my iPad.

I have the game installed and played during a free trial with some friends.. She's a Blood Elf.

I've been playing Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Tried out The Secret World but the combat was too clunky for my liking.

I typically play single-player games, but am open to online if I have people to play with. :)

I used to play WoW, I loved Warcraft 3 and all the Age of Empires but they were taking over my life so I don't play any games anymore. Now I read all the time.

Welcome, Ashley! Here are the challenges

message 447: by Tina (new)

Tina Bartz I am Tina. I am retired so l get to read a lot. My favorite genres currently are primarily Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy, and some Historical Romance.

message 448: by Big Bad Vamp Mod (new)

Big Bad Vamp Mod Welcome Tina!!! I will retire when they stop making phonebooks. I hope another 7 years. I'll be 70 then and over it!!

Have a look around we have lots of brand new challenges starting on the first....it's never coming...the first.

Some days we are a chatty bunch...I mean me...I'm chatty.

This is the generic mod for the group but I'm busy making Myst happy so I can't be...yet!!

message 449: by Elaine (new)

Elaine Howlin Welcome Tina!!

message 450: by Littlewolf (new)

Littlewolf So hi... my name is Crystal... I actually joined the group a couple months back, but for some reason I am incredible shy, even online, so I never said anything. This year, I hope to be different and am really excited about being an actual part of this group. I'm a pretty weird cat but I like that about myself. I'm also an open book for the most part, usually I just to be approached first.
I love everything paranormal, but zombies. For some reason me and zombies just never seem to get along, and I end up looking out the window to make sure then not coming... lol. Vampires have always been my Ultimate obsession… In fact I've been obsessing since I was two years old.
