Hey, all! :) I'm Phaedra and obsessed with vampires on an unhealthy level. I love anything with vampires, including cheesy romance. But I'm also a lover of the classics, contemporary fiction, horror and mysteries.

Hello, I'm Amy. I enjoy Paranormal, Horror, Suspense, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Romance. I do dab a little in other genres, but these are my main go-to reading material. I do read some YA because it makes it a bit easier for me to read. I have dyslexia and it can be difficult to read classics and Shakespeare. It doesn't stop me, but it's a challenge.
I'm mostly an introvert and stay to myself, so I thought joining a few groups about things I'm passionate about would be good baby steps for me to get more social.
I'm very intrigued by this group and am looking forward to participating in the threads!

Welcome Amy!!! We're glad you're here!! I am the kind of person that scares introverts cuz I never shut up.....lol. The greatest thing about being on line is you can be all by yourself and still be connected to people. We're a friendly bunch, so join in where ever you'd like.

Amy, have you tried audio books?? You should be able to listen all day and not worry about your dyslexia....right??

I have and they're pretty good, but with my disability it can be hard to focus on both the book's story and what I'm doing. I tried sitting and listening and that works better.
I'm trying to work on reading more though. I may not conquer it, but I'm trying to adapt with it and train my brain to work better. I don't like being held back and an invisible force doing it doesn't discourage me as much as ..well pisses me off. It's not fun, but I refuse to let it control me and I don't want to baby my condition too much and lose what little control and focus I gained. So, I'll listen to a book once or twice a year and read the rest.
I appreciate your thoughtfulness and suggestion though, and am happy that you would try to help me enjoy more books despite my disability. Most just know it as a learning disability and assume I'm SLOW, not just in reading. Few have ever thought to suggest a possible solution instead of just writing me off as a lost cause.

You go girl!! I did have to google it to make sure I knew what I was talking about. I was pretty sure I knew but better safe than looking like an idiot....lol. If I have to just sit and listen, which I don't do often as I can't just sit.... I play what I call mindless games on my iPad. Solitaire or match 3, I even have a bubble wrap app that I can pop....lol

Hey all. I try to read for pleasure at least a little every day, although with Cub Scouts, other family responsibilities, a day job, and working on three books at a time, I don't always succeed. I enjoy nearly all genres (with the exception of self-help), but I tend to gravitate to paranormal, political thrillers, high fantasy and space operas.
