There are many threads to check out for sure... Let us know if you have any questions... If you enjoy challenges, we have ones that run both monthly and throughout the year... Lots of places to just chat and catch up or get some recs for reading... We love to grow the TBRs, LOL... Feel free to explore and ask questions... This group is very helpful!

chxrlie.garcia Hi, my name is mxn!

Yes, I am that girl who is reading in the middle of a pep rally, in the middle of dinner, in the middle--so you get my love of books lol :).

I am new to using goodreads, however I had this open for awhile, I decided to mingle and make new friends with the same interests as me, like this group. I am a lover for vampires, wish I was one lol. I love YA, Romance, Drama, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, but mostly anything vampire love story type <3

So yeah, hope I can meet new people and get some great book recommendeation, I am very open-minded to anything!!!

With love, mxn <3

Katter Hello ladies, and welcome to the group! :)

message 2310: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Scott Hi y'all,

I'm Leslie (and full disclosure, I am an author). I'm a huge paranormal romance/urban fantasy fan and excited to find some new reads, as I'm all caught up on the series that I read.

message 2311: by Katter (new)

Katter Welcome to the group, Leslie! If you need recommendations just holler! But beware, you might get far more than you bargained for and your TBR list will never be small and organized ever again.

message 2316: by Tina (new)

Tina Bartz I'm not new but I haven't been around for months and months so I am practically new, lol. (New year...new start, hopefully). I am trying to get back in the "Goodreads groove" and "reading rythym" and to at least comment in my various groups. Below is a statement I wrote to hopefully justify not being culled from a group and tovtry to explain my extended absence. I copied it and here it is:

I took a break in 2020 from voraciously reading and from posting/participating on Goodreads. My tablet broke and my phone also started crapping out, and I started having some eye "floaters" I have to contend with, especially if I look at an electronic screen or print page. I have a new tablet and phone now and just try to power past the "floaty" issues, and take breaks from reading when necessary. Also, I think I just put too much pressure on myself with the various Goodreads challenges. I had paper lists of what to read and didn't always read what I wanted if it didn't fit the group topics and/or challenges. I got way behind so, after getting my new tablet and phone several months ago, I still decided to wait until the New Year to get going again. I figured it would be easier to start fresh than try to get caught up. I have already read an entire book....yay! And, I am trying to "touch base" with my Goodreads groups and let everyone know I am back (but in a more limited and thus balanced way, I hope).

P.S. Yes, Dee, I am still alive! I had some technical difficulties with Goodreads and e-mail and couldn't respond to your messages even after getting my new devices. I am still having some issues with the Goodreads app since I can't get "desktop" on my devices now and am stuck in just the "mobile mode". I think most of my issues with the app are on me (operator error) and not the app, lol!

I know there's nothing like actually reading a book, holding it in your hands. Have you ever thought about audiobooks? Maybe your eyes get tired sometimes, but you'd love to keep reading? You could listen to a few more chapters while resting your eyes, and now that you have a new tablet it would be even easier to get audiobooks!

Take care of your eyes : )

I really never considered audiobooks before because I comprehend and remember things better if I see them written down. BUT, I think that is an excellent suggestion and would definitely help relieve eye strain yet keep me "in the loop" reading-wise during breaks from actually reading.

message 2319: by Dee (new)

Dee You guys!! I just don't know how I get so far behind!! I will blame that stupid game that I play all the time since I have quit smoking!!

Tina!!!! We are so happy to see you! I am with Sarah, audio books is a thing!! I listen to more books than read anymore. But, that's cuz of that dam game! Two books per challenge is all we need!! Even then, nobody looks!! LOL

Welcome everyone else!! Sing out if you have any questions......someone will answer them!!

message 2320: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Huerta Hello Everyone, my name is Elisabeth. My craving is for fantasy-all types all be it paranormal, urban fantasy, dark fantasy, etc. I enjoy when my fantasy has a bit of romance (and some smut sometimes will not lie). I read way too much, especially late at night because I hate myself (jk) but I lack sleep. I am also an author of fantasy. I love book recomendations and I am always looking for a new read, and some hot fictional guys to drool over. I look forward to talking with you all.

message 2321: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Welcome Elisabeth! There's always recommendations flowing around here for things to read. There's lots of games and challenges if you're interested. There's a few areas dedicated to authors as well (there's a few of us floating around in here.)

Welcome to the group and don't be afraid to ask questions if you need help!

message 2322: by Theresa (new)

message 2325: by Jeydon (new)

Jeydon Marshall Now that I have a Vampire Hearts thread and I’m actively participating, I figured I should stop in and introduce myself over here before I forget to do so ;D

I’m Jey and I’ve loved Fantasy & Paranormal books for as long as I can remember but of course my tastes have gotten darker as I’ve gotten older.

While I’ve previously read and enjoyed plenty of Fantasy/Paranormal books featuring straight romances, in the past year I’ve realized just how HUGE the M/M Genre is and have been primarily reading books featuring M/M Romances ever since. While I do prefer my books to have an M/M romance, I prioritize well developed world building and an interesting main plot aside from the romance.

I look forward to taking part in a group that focuses more on the Fantasy / Paranormal side of things!

message 2326: by Dee (new)

Dee Hey Jey!! Welcome to the group!!

The M/M genre is huge. Not to plug another group but.....did you join that big group? We have a few members that read mostly M/M.

Sing out if you need any help!

message 2327: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Welcome Jeydon... I have read some M/M romance but not much... I am looking forward to trying Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1) by T.J. Klune which many in our group rave about... Have you read it?

message 2328: by Jenn (not Lily) (new)

Jenn (not Lily) Hi Jey, great to see you, welcome to MVBO! (Yes Dee, I'm sure someone from the big group over there invited him to come join us over here!)

I LOVE that series. I highly recommend giving it a go! I’m so sad that I’ve finished the final book, Brothersong, because if TJ kept writing books featuring these characters forever I don’t think I’d ever get tired of them!

Jeydon Marshall Jenn (not Lily) wrote: "Hi Jey, great to see you, welcome to MVBO! (Yes Dee, I'm sure someone from the big group over there invited him to come join us over here!)"

You’re correct, I did find it through others in the M/M group! And while there’s also a smaller LGBTQ/GSM Fantasy & Science Fiction group, that one’s not nearly active as this one and I don’t believe it includes paranormals.

I’ve loved trying out new challenges in this group and while there’s a wide variety of what we all read, I feel that our love for paranormals unites us ;D

So glad to hear that you loved it... I am excited to read it!

Danielle Gypsy Soul Welcome Jeydon. I read primarily M/M romance and love finding new authors so it’s always great to get more group members with similar tastes. I agree the characters and world building is the most important aspect.
