Michael Lacoy Hello friends! I wanted to let you know about my forthcoming novel, which is available now through April 21 as a Goodreads Giveaway.

The hero of Making a Better World is a Catholic who is struggling to be a good father and son amid a culture in decline and a Church in crisis. Both a satire and a romantic comedy, the story touches on cancel culture, “woke” capital, the treatment of the elderly, and the raising of children, as well as the Church pedophile scandals and their effect on Catholics and those who otherwise might be interested in the faith. Sounds heavy, but it's a fun, uplifting read with echoes of Jane Austen and Evelyn Waugh.

For the Goodreads Giveaway, I'm offering ten copies and I would be very happy indeed to see some of them go to fellow Catholic Book Club members. Thanks for reading!

Carol Dobson Hello everyone. I am the author of Storks in a Blue Sky, a clean historical romance featuring a Catholic hero and a Catholic theme. Normand Thomas Caring for our poverties

Wherever we are, where we are now, poverty is around. Taming the different kinds of poverties of the people and learning to recognize the value of their hearts not only encourages charity, but also leads to holiness.
To take notice of poverty among people is a sign of increasing maturity in faith. The unique mission of each person, sent out by Jesus, is to meet with others. To evangelize is to listen to each other's faith and share the beauties we discover in hearts.
What if poverty was wealth?
And wealth was poverty?
The purpose of this book will be to put into perspective what true wealth and true poverty are.

My first epic fantasy novel is out! Hope you'll enjoy it!

«In the beginning, a peaceful race of giants populated the world of Dumah.

One day a sylphid, a spirit from the stars, came down from the heavens to deliver a dreadful prophecy: "A new race of beings, called men, will one day dethrone the giants and destroy them."

To protect them from this threat, the sylphid will teach the giants the art of ironcraft. But this gift will unleash war upon the land of mortals, as the giants try to conquer a mythical city where men are foretold to appear...»

John Servant Hi,
I've written three books. My first book, The Arrow That Flies By Day, is a story about what if no one ever told a wounded warrior that he couldn't become a hero in the NFL. It is a story about how to overcome all the obstacles in your path to achieve your dreams and become a true hero and find redemption.
The second book, The Narrow Gate, is about how every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. It is a story about unbridled ambition and political corruption of a powerful US Senator and the power of friendship, and how it can help in finding the way back from the abyss and finding redemption.
The third book, Always Before Me, is a story about what to do if your failures are always before you and how to snatch victory and your dreams from unjust tragedy.
You can see a preview of my books at https://www.johnservantbooks.com/ or Amazon.com/author/johnservant. May these stories of hope and mercy provide inspiration to all who read them.

Kevin Haar Intercession
Hello,
My name is Kevin and I have just put up my debut novel, Intercession, for pre-order. I am looking for anyone interested in receiving a digital ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. The book releases December 1st.
My novel is a coming-of-age story of a young girl during the Irish Civil War where Catholics were torn between submission to the British Crown and an independent Irish Republic. Aoife encounters saints and witches while she navigates the superstitions and Irish folklore that permeate her homeland and guide her towards understanding and adulthood. Niall, her father, struggles with the coming-of-age and political awakening of his daughter, while his tight-knit island home grapples with its place in a fast-changing world newly lit by electricity.
Meanwhile, at the island's monastery, a monk is discovered to be an impostor, an Irish rebel wanted by the Crown. Brother Declan finds himself called again to be a revolutionary for a new Irish Republic. When he meets the innkeeper's mysterious daughter, he must come to terms with his past and the consequences of his political zealotry as he and Aoife become entangled in a political scheme that will shock the small community.
Full of Irish and Catholic folklore, Intercession weaves through the history and myths of Ireland to its thrilling and mysterious conclusion. In a place steeped in legend, Aoife must decide for herself what stories are worth believing and suffer the consequences of those beliefs, for better or worse.

Please message me if you are interested in receiving an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for your consideration and have a great day!

Michael Thomas Cibenko I guess I'll chime in and mention my recently published work of historical fiction, based on the events of the Shimabara Rebellion, an uprising of persecuted Christians in 17th century Japan, and a 16-year-old Catholic samurai who came to be acknowledged as its leader.

The book's title is Masaru, and the four years I spent living in southern rural Japan helped inspire me to write it.

It was interesting, in a haunting way, to see the connection between the atomic bombing and the Church. At the cathedral in Nagasaki, one can still see damage, such as the melted faces of statues. At the atomic bomb museum, there are rosaries that were found, the beads of which had fused together from the heat.

I have expressed badly the thing which i want to go to Nagasaki was because i wanted to go to the place, where there was more catholics. Historically is a very important place to the Catholics and it was not totally fair that the fame had been getting dark for the atomic bomb and little people remember that in this city the catholics had a very important role.

I did not know that Hiroshima had a concentration of Catholics. In Nagasaki we had the story of Takashi Nagai there are a lot of rumors of possible blessing to him. He was well known and the christian Gandhi. He lost his wife and he would die for years later for the radiation. However that thing that i wanted to do it. It is a reding a novel as Mr. Cibenko has written telling they yers of Toyotomi Hideyoshi until the battle of Shimabara with the third shogun of the Tokugawa Dinasty (Tokugawa Iemitsu) from a catholic perspective i have read a lot of novels about Japan, but excepting the Shusaku Endo´s novels none of them from a catholic perspective. Shogun i started to read but i did not like for the James Clavell`s view, besides because the novel was antihistorical and very hostile against Spain. For me it was not a referent.

I am currently reading A Song For Nagasaki, about a doctor who is recognized as a saint by many after he lost his family in the bombing and spent his life helping the victims. He wrote an autobiography, A Bell for Nagasaki, which I haven't read. It was recommended to read A Song first....Only into Chapter Two, but already I'm impressed with the writing. Kathleen Hello to everyone and thank you for reading this about my new book. Now that it is finished, I can catch up the club’s selections. I am Kathleen Brady, a published biographer now bringing out "Francis and Clare the Struggles of the Saints of Assisi," available on Amazon. Francis is rightly known for his joyous love of God and nature, but his life was filled with opposition. Clare is honored for her fasting and suffering, but in fact she was also a fighter who outwitted a pope. Their real story has long been obscured, but today when many feel troubled by the state of religion, this book offers new reasons to love these historic figures. Francis’s greatest shame was allowing the church to betray his promises to Clare. Clare used her association with him to wage a decades-long fight with the papacy, upending some of its plans and blindsiding the pope who thought he had confined her in a cloister. One cannot tell the full story of Francis without the story of Clare. It was not a romance, but it was an extraordinary relationship. Find more information at www.francisandclarethestrugglesofthes....
Thank you and best wishes.

Mark Baker Starting next Saturday, November 27, I will be serializing my historical novel, The Wistful and the Good on Substack. Set just weeks after the great Viking raid on the rich monastery of Lindisfarne in 793, The Wistful and the Good is the story of Elswyth, the daughter of an Anglo-Saxon thegn and a Welsh slave.

Elswyth will marry Drefan, become lady of a great hall, and host kings at her table. But Elswyth is consumed with wistful longing, her eyes ever to the sea, her heart ever in the wind. Drefan, who lost a beloved mentor in the raid on Lindisfarne is bent on seeking revenge on any Norseman he can find. And when Elswyth's longing finds an object in Leif, a Norse trader and old family friend who is trying to raise his father's ransom, Elswyth must strive to keep peace between Drefan and Leif. But her wistful heart betrays her and Drefan quickly sees what both Leif and Elswyth are at pains to conceal and suppress.

Elswyth is about to discover that the wages of sin are death. But not always your own.

Santiago Vieto Rodríguez Salve María!

I recently joined this group and I would like to share with you a little story, “A Picture for Eternity,” the first I wrote a few years ago, and the only one I have translated into English, which can be classified as a Catholic fantasy.

When I wrote this story I was beginning to learn oil painting from an excellent religious who passed into eternity last year. Fr. Buzzarello, and now he is our "intercessor artist" in our family of souls. If you read the story you will understand the relation with this fact.

You can download the PDF at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1E5RF...

Another interesting thing have recently happened as in the story...

Some of you will probably notice that the plot is inspired by a work by J.R.R Tolkien.

I will be very happy to hear his opinions. What do you think of this way of approaching Catholic Doctrine?

God Bless you all!

Mark Baker I have just published a novel called, The Wistful and the Good. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6... The tagline is, "The might are undone by pride, the bold by folly, and the good by wistfulness." It is, if you like, a tragedy of good intentions.

Elswyth's mother was a slave, but her father is a thegn, and Drefan, the man she is to marry, is an ealdorman's son. But though Elswyth is content with the match, and waits only for Drefan to notice that she has come to womanhood, still she finds herself gazing seaward, full of wistful longing.

From the sea come Norse traders, bringing wealth, friendship, and tales of distant lands. But in this year of grace 793 the sea has brought a great Viking raid that has devastated the rich monastery of Lindisfarne. Norse are suddenly not welcome in Northumbria, and when Elswyth spots a Norse ship approaching the beach in her village of Twyford, her father fears a Viking raid.

But the ship brings trouble of a different kind. Leif has visited Twyford many times as a boy, accompanying his father on his voyages. But now he returns in command of his father's ship and desperate to raise his father's ransom by selling a cargo of Christian holy books. Elswyth is fascinated by the books and the pictures they contain of warm and distant lands.

But when Drefan arrives, investigating reports of the sighting of a Norse ship, Elswyth must try to keep the peace between Drefan and Leif, and tame the wistfulness of her restless heart.
