Nancy Bilyeau I've written a novella that is a Christmas ghost story. The main character, Helen O'Neill, is from a devout Catholic home of Irish Americans living in the Bronx in 1912. Her sister is a Dominican sister at a real monastery that still exists in the Bronx.

The Ghost of Madison Avenue

A Christmas Ghost Story in Old New York

In this compelling and poignant story, bestselling author Nancy Bilyeau takes readers to New York City’s Morgan Library in December 1912, when two very different people haunted by lost love come together in an unexpected way.

Description:

Helen O’Neill, part of a tight-knit Irish American family in the Bronx, is only too happy to report to work at the spectacular private library built on Madison Avenue by millionaire financier J. P. Morgan. The head librarian, the brilliant and beautiful Belle da Costa Greene, had hired Helen away from the Metropolitan Museum of Art after she witnessed Helen’s unusual talent with handling artifacts.

Helen soon discovers the Morgan Library is a place like no other, with its secret staircases, magical manuscripts, and mysterious murals. But that’s nothing compared to a person Helen alone sees: a young woman standing on Madison Avenue, looking as if she were keeping watch. In learning the woman’s true link to the Morgan, Helen must face the pain of her own past. She finds herself with a second chance at happiness on Christmas Eve—if she has the courage.

Carol Dobson Storks in a Blue Sky by Carol Anne Dobson Storks in a Blue Sky by Carol Anne Dobson has as its hero, the Catholic, Jean Luc de Delacroix, and is a historical romance set in the 18th century in France and England.
A review in US Catholic (08.06.2011) said: 'One of its central themes concerns the discrimination and hostility towards Catholics in the 18th century in England. The hero, Jean Luc de Delacroix,is a French aristocrat, a soldier and a scientist, and a devout Catholic. The heroine, Sarah Durrant, initially shares the unenlightened views of her fellow countrymen. She is an uneducated former kitchen maid who impersonates her mistress when she dies. At the same time, her own origins are a mystery. She has no knowledge of her parents and possesses a gold locket which contains a miniature of a woman who resembles her.
English xenophobia towards both the French and Catholicism finds expression towards the Delacroix family, an antagonism which is exacerbated because Jean Luc has just returned from fighting against the British in North America. Jean Luc is attacked and seriously wounded on Exmoor.'
Storks in a Blue Sky is the winner of the 2009 David St.John Thomas Fiction Award.
I have also written Hecate's Moon, a historical novel which is a sequel to Storks in a Blue Sky and again features the Catholic Delacroix family in England, but during the time of the French Revolution. It was a semi-finalist in MM Bennett's Historical Fiction Award 2016.
I am a mother and grandmother and write books which I would feel happy for my children to read. Both my novels are 'clean'.

Kim Acco Hello, I'm Kim from Montreal! I wrote a novel, 'The Alchemist's Portal' which is still not added to this site. Please search for the Kirkus review which is very positive!
In the 17th century, alchemists construct a portal from meteoric ore in attempt to establish a means to purify the soul and encounter God. Their experiment runs awry, is buried and unearthed in the latter half of the 21st century. A young Catholic priest must confront a grim past while she is being trained by a mentor to investigate supernatural phenomenon. The methods are unorthodox and alarming. They are joined by an extraordinary third team member, an android disguised as a priest, and embark on their first dangerous adventure together that takes them around the world. A demon had been inadvertently summoned during the alchemists' experiment and returns to earth after a galactic voyage with a crew of desperate extraterrestrials. He gathers demon cohorts and manipulates the crew to retrieve the portal to exploit its unique powers. Other faiths of the world unite to assist in the good fight. FBI agents and other homeland securities lend their hand to keep the peace.

Shawn Henry Potter Socialism: An Essential Review Hi. My name is Shawn Henry Potter. My wife and I would like to alert you to a book that we think you will want to read and review. The title is Socialism: An Essential Review. The Kindle edition is free this week from Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Socialism-Esse...

All across America, political candidates for federal, state, and local office are proclaiming the principles of socialism. They offer revolutionary solutions to persistent social challenges, such as: income inequality, low wages, rising health care costs, student debt, racism, and climate change. But, would their policies lead to a reduction or expansion of human suffering? Do their principles rest on reality or fantasy? Father Bernard John Vaughan, Priest of the Society of Jesus, answers these questions, and more, as he examines general principles of social justice, socialism, and capitalism in Socialism: An Essential Review. Inspired by the words of Pope Pius X, and the writings of Pope Leo XIII, Father Vaughan explores, among other topics, the relationship between socialism and the individual, family, state, and church. This book is required reading for everyone who wishes to understand socialism and aspires to “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”

This all new publication is not a mere reprint of the original 1912 edition. It presents Father Vaughan’s classic work in a convenient e-book format which corrects typographical errors, updates archaic vocabulary, converts in-line references to endnotes, updates Scripture from The New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition, 1989, and supplements the text with beautiful illustrations.

Shawn Henry Potter Martin Luther and the Protestant Movement: Joy of the Christian Journey Years ago, as I studied at a Protestant theological seminary, the Holy Spirit began to draw me to the Catholic Church through a lecture on Martin Luther. I began to wonder if Luther, in his words and deeds, reflected the personal traits of a Christian? Did Luther's own character undermined his claim to speak with truth about God and the Church. If so, what are the implications for the Protestant movement? I wish I knew about this powerful book at the time. Explaining his intention to "write about Luther, not against him," and expressing his commitment to obey the commandment: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor," Father Joseph Karl Verres, Doctor of Divinity, introduces the reformer in his own words. The result is compelling. Every Catholic and non-Catholic should read this book. I hope readers will get this book and write an honest review on the Amazon web page. "Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches." (Rev 2:28)

The Saint Monica Club by Maggie Green

Like so many Catholics today – even perhaps like you – Saint Monica wrestled daily with the pain of having a loved one fall away from the Faith. Like us, she often feared that her prayers and tears were of little worth, empty, futile.

Your family is the Body of Christ, and when someone, anyone leaves, it leaves a whole where flesh should be. Saint Monica knew this pain; she accompanies us. She persists with us in prayer. She also provides the model for us, the promise that Christ will seek our loved ones out, sit with them by the well, and invite them to follow.

It is Christ who will win them. Our job is to ride out the storm, reflecting His love, revealing His love, and always Trusting in His Divine Providence.

Madeleine Myers Thank you so much for this beautiful encouragement, Maggie. I have a prayer on the Laudate app and some others I pray every day that my children will reconvert and my grandchildren will discover the faith and be baptized. So many in my children's generation, the children brought up in the wake of Vatican Ii, turned away from the Church and its scandals, and rejected her truth and wisdom. Families have been under attack from all sides, even from their own churches. I find it heartening and hopeful, though, that many of my grandchildren's generation are being drawn to the beauty and truth and complexity of the old liturgy and magisterium that their parents rejected. I see my oldest grandchild, now a young adult, being drawn to the Newman club at a liberal university and reading the Bible. We have a parish in a neighbor city here in North Texas that has a full schedule of Latin masses, and a very active population of young families. I think of the younger members of my CRHP group which is now planning a retreat for the next group with hope and gratitude. They have turned their backs on our faithless culture to be salt and light for their world. I see a possible Renaissance of Catholic art and thought and literature in progress, and take heart. The gates of hell will not prevail. Not as long as we lift our precious children in constant prayer as St. Monica did and still does if we ask her to join us.

Bible Stories for Youth, New Testament A Light to My Path by Shawn Henry Potter

We hope you will get your free copy today and write an honest review on the Amazon web page https://www.amazon.com/Bible-Stories-...

Many parents and teachers know that: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim 3:16-17) And, they want to present appropriate editions of the Bible to those in their care.

Still, they sometimes find it difficult to locate texts that reflect the glory and majesty of God’s word in a format that is accessible to young readers.

Sensing a great need and wishing to lead young hearts to the Savior, Bishop Richard Gilmour (1824-1891) wrote Bible Stories for Youth, New Testament — volume two in a two part series subtitled A Light to My Path. The effect of his labors is a work that will bless millions of young souls for generations to come.

This volume is supplemented with 115 beautiful illustrations; and in-line references are presented as endnotes. All Scripture is updated from The New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition, 1989.

“Remember your creator in the days of your youth.” (Eccl 12:1)

We hope you get your free copy of Church History to 1500 for Young Readers: Joy of the Christian Journey, and write an honest review on the Amazon web page https://www.amazon.com/Church-History...

Jesus asked his heavenly Father to make his followers completely one “so that the world may know that you have sent me.” (John 17:20-23). The Father granted his Son’s prayer.

The history of the Church records how Christians, in unity, have recounted the Lord’s teachings, passion, and resurrection, celebrated the holy sacraments instituted by Christ, and made disciples of all peoples. In fact, the unity of the Church offers a compelling witness to the truth of the gospel.

Reflecting on the amazing survival and expansion of the early Church, Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD), wrote: “I should not believe the gospel except as moved by the authority of the Catholic Church.”

Bearing witness to God’s powerful work among his people, Bishop Richard Gilmour presents Church History to 1500 for Young Readers: Joy of the Christian Journey.

“Remember the days of old, consider the years long past; ask your father, and he will inform you; your elders, and they will tell you.” (Deut 32:7)

We hope your will get your copy of Foundations of Democracy in the United States of America: Writings from 1760 to 1774 – Revolution, and write an honest review on the Amazon web page https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...

This is book 4 in a 12-volume series that highlights two important points: (1) America’s founders were inspired by the Judeo-Christian understanding that God created all people equal and endowed them with certain unalienable rights, and (2) the founders included a broader circle of people than many realize – white, black, men, women, rich, and poor.

To the second point, the dialogue about equality among people from every segment of American society was decisive. It encouraged all Americans to examine the meaning of equality in a way that most other countries have not. Can a common understanding of the shared heritage of whites and blacks in America promote peace today? We hope so.

You do NOT need a Kindle to read this ebook! You can read it on any computer, tablet, or mobile device using Amazon's free Kindle app available here: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/fd/kcp

We hope you will write an honest review on the Amazon web page. Books without reviews look so lonely, and reviews on the Amazon web page point readers to good books.

The space society forgot, as it learned to live outside itself,
Drowned their thoughts and feelings, with what one’s talked about.
The world, it grew louder; from the podium they all took turns,
Teaching and directing while no one really learned.
The room it got crowded, the words, a jumbled mess,
It was almost by accident, that the space came from it,
There were no boundaries men created, nor words that could explain,
Just a place of being, with Whom we had been made.
The tension it rolled off; the rallies soon would die,
The protests and petitions, and their man created lines –
This space, it grew and grew; in silence the thread was stretched,
It only took a moment to recognize another we had met,
Who was a silent warrior, who had not forgotten to think,
Had not forgotten to love, and the missing link of God above,
Even if this space, society had forgot, it would always still exist,
Quietly inside of us.

What do Catholics and Protestants believe about the Bible? Where do they agree and disagree?

Catholics believe that: “God is the author of sacred Scripture because he inspired its human authors; he acts in them and by means of them. He thus gives assurance that their writings teach without error his saving truth.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 136) Many Protestants share these same beliefs.

Yet, differences emerge with respect to the doctrine of the rule of faith — the standard by which individuals interpret Scripture. Louis-Nazaire Cardinal Bégin explores these differences, and their natural consequences, in this compelling and beautifully illustrated book.

Expressing the desires of his heart, Cardinal Bégin writes that he wishes to show courtesy to others, hopes to answer certain charges against the Church, and prays with Jesus that all who believe in Christ would be one. (John 17:20-23)

Have you ever wondered how the holy creator of the universe engages in a personal relationship with rebellious humanity? For, we read in Scripture: “You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil will not sojourn with you.” (Ps 5:4) And, again we read that God’s “eyes are too pure to behold evil.” (Hab 1:13)

Does God cover or remove our sin? When and how does this occur? Do people cooperate in this process?

Catholic theologians have searched the Scriptures, reasoned, and written about this matter for almost 2,000 years; and Bishop Francis Patrick Kenrick surveys this vast body of work in The Catholic Doctrine of Justification: An Apologetic Call to Communion.

May it be said of all who read his book: “You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” (1 Cor 6:11)
