Hi Manny,
Welcome. I know you not just from Catholic Thought, but I think we've run across each other on the internet as well - perhaps on Ricochet. In any case, I understand exactly what you mean by the difficulty of reading for too many book clubs - I had to stop participating there for exactly that reason. I hope you are able to find the time to join us for the discussion in February.

This is how the slippery slope begins, too many bookclubs and not enough time :-)
I've been thinking back and forth about joining next month's discussion. You joining might just t..."
I hope you do, Kerstin, it would certainly add to our conversation.

Hi Peter,
I look forward to your joining us in our reading and discussion. Welcome.

You’re on Ricochet John? Yes that is me. Send me a PM either here or Ricochet to let me know who you are there. I should have time this month for Brede. I’m looking forward to it.
Thank you all for your kind welcome.

Thank you Fonch! That's better than a warm welcome. That's a great welcome.

Hi, Peter. I hope everyone gets a chance to read the article “The Loss of Spiritual Herd Immunity” in the CatholicStand you provided. It’s brilliant. ..."
You're awesome, thanks for the kind welcome!

Thanks John. Great group so far!

Hello Mrs. Elisabetta it is a big honor that you were a member of Catholic Book Club, although Mrs. Elisabetta had not said she wrote excellent books about the situation of the Catholics during the Tudor period time (unfortunatelly i think that her books only are in Italian and i would like to read them). I knew to Mrs. Sala thanks to the Maria Elvira Roca Barea`s book Hispanophobia and black Legend.

Welcome to the group Elisabetta. Your English is fine. Hopefully you will be able to join us in reading some of our books, at least those translated into Italian.

Personally if i can say something i am very happy that Elisabetta has joined to Catholic Book Club and i wish her books were translated to English and spanish. Do not worry Mrs. Sala my English is much more terrible than your english :-).

Y tu ingles es mejor que mi español.

At least this sentence is absolutely right in my language, John :-). There is not any grammar mistake in this sentence.

Es un frase muy corto. :-)

Es un frase muy corto. :-)"
In this case there is only a mistake with the article, but it is not bad the right sentence it would be "Es una frase muy corta" the spanish is more difficult than the English language but the spanish people the Professor Alfonseca is an exception we are not very good learning foreign languages :-(.

As I hit send I wondered if perhaps frase wasn't feminine. I think many if not most nouns ending with e are feminine, right? And of course, as it is feminine it requires una/corta. This is one of my most common mistake in Spanish. I had forgotten the Spanish word for sentence, so I looked it up in a dictionary - I just double-checked and the dictionary (Spanish-English//English-Spanish) does not tell me the gender of the word, but if I look up frase it does tell me that it is a feminine noun.

Welcome, Crystal, I hope you are able to join us for In This House of Brede.

Hi Elisabetta. Oh don't worry about your English. Mio italiano è peggio del tuo inglese. What part of Italy are you from?

This may not be the proper thread to discuss this, Frances, but Exile Ends In Glory: The Life Of A Trappistine, Mother M. Berchmans is here on Goodreads.

Welcome, Jonathan. I hope you are able to join us from time to time. Our current BOTM, In This House of Brede, appears long, but is a very fast read, and a bit of a page turner.

Hello, Catherine,
Welcome - we look forward to your participating as well.

I am a French-American musician (classical and jazz) and a recent convert to Catholicism (I had my confirmation and first communion in November). Especially recently, I have been striving to learn more about the Catholic faith (my RCIA experience was a little limited due to COVID) and to obtain a deeper understanding of certain theological doctrines. I hope to discover more Catholic-centered literature and to partake in discussions with like-minded people :-). Currently, I am reading a couple Scott Hahn books (“Rome Sweet Home” and “The Lamb’s Supper”) and have on my to-read list Francis de Sale’s, St. Ignatius Loyola’s, and Fulton Sheen’s books, among others.
God bless!

Both to the Catholic Book Club and to the Church. Hopefully you will be able to join us in this month's reading - Till We Have Faces, by C.S. Lewis.
God bless.

I say the same as John Bienvenue Sarah to Catholic Book Club *hugs*.

Hi Lori, Welcome. As Fonch said, the discussions are left open and some time discussions occur well after the month in which it was "official." Of course, we are about to vote on the April BOTM, so be sure to vote, and hopefully you will be able to join us in April as well!

Croatia?

Croatia?"
I have heard that this country has marevellous landscapes and beautiful monuments.
Hi, Peter. I hope everyone gets a chance to read the article “The Loss of Spiritual Herd Immunity” in the CatholicStand you provided. It’s brilliant. Thank you for SacredWindows, too. The illustrations and quotations are deep and beautiful.
Welcome to Mark and Dominic as well. I think John speaks for us all in his message 203 above.
