I saw that announcement too, Ruth, from probably the same Mod you heard it from. Sounds official. From what this Mod said, it's to prevent books not fitting the description of the specific group from being promoted there. For example, erotica can't be promoted on A Good Thriller (I suppose that applies only to nonthrilling erotica). :-)

Jonathan Nace Looking to give a free copy to first person willing to write a review/critique of my work. It is a soft-sci-fi constitutional thriller. PM me if interested.

Here's the link: Inevitable

And the quick hook:

Your world’s water supply is reaching its finite end. Aquifers are drying, and water is being divided between production of food, medicine, and agriculture. When America found itself on the brink of Malthusian catastrophe, population control was installed for the greatest good for the greatest possible number of people.

Benjamin Zachary expects to receive his Fairness In Nature And Life Act (FINAL) letter from The Office of Population Management, but he grows suspicious and nervous when he fails to receive it within the customary days after turning twenty one.

Ben soon learns that his hope is unwarranted and he is being accused of a crime he did not commit for a second time. He is wanted for immediate trial by Panel Hearing. Once he is caught, he struggles to face his own death, knowing that he has little chance of defeating The Office at its own game. He has no lawyer to represent him, no knowledge of the rules of the hearing process, and he finds that the Panel that is going to decide his fate is hand-picked by his adversary, Office Director Dante Ringer. His only hope is his friend, Patricia Mullins, whose cold acknowledgment of The Office's necessity juxtaposed with her feelings for her friend, twist her into conflicting directions. As Ben and Patricia fight to overcome The Office's powerful organization, they learn the only way out for Ben is at the expense of others.

Up against a nearly unlimited government agency created to deal with a dramatic environmental crisis, Ben and Patricia fight against the Inevitable.

J M Shorney Promoting is an okay word. I've written a book tells us something. But 'buy my book' are ugly words, especially when coupled with a price. I like to call it sharing. I enjoy writing so much I want to share, without obligation. In the immortal words of the late Rod Serling. Submitted for your approval. Taken from my small rendition. 'All of them Vampires!'

He was aware it would be useless to look into a mirror, when you can't see your own reflection. His body was rawboned. The only concealment to his nakedness was a pair of underpants. Drenched in blood and naked! But he could move. So he wasn't dead then. The blood had long since dried.
When he turned his head in the direction of his pillow he saw her. The girl. The girl's eyes were green, wide, staring. At what? he wondered. Those eyes were sightless now. She saw nothing. She might once have been pretty. It was difficult to tell with all the blood obliterating her features. The gaping hole where her throat had been, was now exposed, still suppurating blood beginning to congeal in death.

J M Shorney Resting on a white cotton pillow, she wore a long, equally white nightdress. Her eyes were closed, the pain had abandoned her pretty face. Long dark lashes swept porcelain cheeks. Her flowing cascade of black hair fell across her shoulders,so thick and curly in death as in life. I refused to travel down the road of Brid and Harry's decision, and Dad's of course, about cremation. How could anyone possibly destroy this beautiful child? For that's all she appeared, a sweet angelic child. I scarcely realised, but I approached the bed, touched her fingers , as cold as marble inside my palm. I began to rub her hand as if I were capable of restoring the life back into her. I wanted to believe that she was simply in a coma, and there was a possibility that she would wake up at any moment.

Karl Vadaszffy Hello all,

I'm the author of THE MISSING, which was a Kindle bestseller two years ago.

My latest thriller, ON GUARD, has been selected by Amazon to be part of its Kindle Summer Sale. As part of this, it's just 99p in the UK (and equivalent on all other Amazon sites).

Early reviews have been great and a number of authors have spoken out in support of the book:

'Masterful and thrilling' Elizabeth Haynes, Into the Darkest Corner
'Complex and gripping' James Becker, The First Apostle
'Riveting' Damien Lewis, Zero Bravo Six
'Tense and gritty' C.M. Palov, The Templar's Secret
'Another masterful thriller' Scott Phillips, The Ice Harvest
'Style and pace' Glenn Cooper, Library of the Dead

The Blurb:
Ageing fencing master József Varga escaped from Budapest, Hungary, during the Revolution of 1956. Years later, female members of his fencing club are found dead, stabbed through with snapped fencing blades. Someone from his past is attempting to destroy his present.

His son, Detective Sergeant Michael Varga, himself a fencer, tries to unravel the mystery, while keeping the hidden jealousy he has for his distant father from emerging.

If you haven't read it, you can find it here: http://goo.gl/zpx4VH and here The Warrior by Ty Patterson

I am happy to announce that the second book in the Warrior series, The Reluctant Warrior, is now in the final stages of editing, with a go-live in the second half of August.

In the next fortnight, I will announce the blurb and cover (sneak peek below) and also intimate the publishing date.

A.D. Garrett I have published two forensic thrillers as A.D. Garrett, the second of which, Believe No One came out last month. Believe No One (DCI Kate Simms & Professor Nick Fennimore,#2).

Blurb
"Detective Chief Inspector Kate Simms is in the United States on sabbatical with St Louis PD. She is working with a 'method swap' team, reviewing cold cases, sharing expertise. Simms came to the US to escape fallout from her previous investigation working with forensic expert Professor Nick Fennimore. But Fennimore has engineered a trip to the States on a book tour - the last thing Simms needs. . .

A call for help from a sheriff's deputy in Oklahoma distracts the professor: a mother dead, her child gone. Fennimore soon draws the conclusion this is not an isolated case. How many other young mothers have been killed, their murders unsolved, their children unaccounted for - and what of Simms's cold case in St Louis?"

Book Giveaway
I'm running a Goodreads Book Giveaway in the UK for the first in the series - Everyone Lies, details of which you can find on my profile page. Jeffery Deaver said of this book, 'A.D. Garrett has done for Manchester what The Wire did for Baltimore. And our central characters, Simms and Fennimore, are complex, compelling, and just plain marvellous.'

For more information, a blog, and reviews of the novels, go to www.adgarrett.com

Slaughterhouse by Carla H Krueger

I chose to add 'Slaughterhouse' because I think it fits best with this group. It's a short book (about half the length of a full novel) and takes about two hours to read, like watching a good film. It's an atmospheric, psychological story with some chilling, twisted characters, a hero to root for and a satisfying twist at the end. If you try it, I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it ....

Thanks & look forward to meeting more of you soon!

"I could not put this story down. The premise is realistic and plausible. The characters are well drawn with good dynamics between them. The plot line has a good flow that is easy to read and follow. Lots of action and suspense. We make decisions that we feel are right at the time. But then later, there comes a time when things need to be changed. Ahmad Ardalan The Clout of Gen is a Fictional Suspense. A novel that makes you wonder if everything around is exactly what it seems to be.

A simple summary:

Newspaper reporter John Teddy’s miserable life is turned upside down when he uncovers a voice from the past—a voice that suspiciously knows far too much about the would-be future. John’s natural curiosity to understand the hidden message takes him to places he never imagined seeing, and ongoing conspiracies he never thought existed. The more John gets involved, the more he is led towards mysteries that are beyond his understanding. The circle of people involved grows bigger stretching from west to east; each step forward is like a step backward.

Amazon Review. By Paul Winters. July 29, 2014. Black Hawk Day Rewind is a well-written, intense and very realistic thriller that I enjoyed from start to finish. The author develops the main character well with a detailed psychological profile and backstory of a boy that lost his father in Somalia. He starts off a bit unlikable but, by understanding the history and watching the evolution of Mark Savannah, you quickly warm to the character and cheer him on as the pace picks up and the action hits you at a mile a minute. Great dialogue, intense action sequences, and some wild surprises greet the reader and leave them craving more from this author. I whole-heartedly recommend this novel and look forward to the next!

Goodreads Review. By Lisa Jones. July 10, 2014. Black Hawk Day Rewind by Dominick Fencer and Baiban Nighthawk, is an explosive novel to awaken the senses. With CIA and double-crossing agents to drug smuggling and experiments, this book has it all. Mark Savannah is the lead character of whom has outgrown his uses as a special agent. He lost his dad in this field of work and began to wrestle his demons to take up the same line of occupation. As his life becomes even more complicated, he now has an elite female assassin after him, but for Mark, it is just another day at the office.
Dominick Fencer and Baiban Nighthawk deliver a brilliant novel entitled Black Hawk Day Rewind. The book began slow but after the first couple of chapters I was completely engrossed. The plot was very clever but complicated in places, for me this was all the more challenging. There were several lead characters as well as Savannah, I especially liked the female assassin. Her cool dilemma and her 007 qualities are a dream of every girl, but it was so nice to see her vulnerable side emerge. Without giving too much away, the brain experiments were literally mind boggling. It was an amazing concept and although on several occasions I had to re-read to digest everything, it made for a truly awesome additive. Overall, the author has a well thought out and very strong characters which all give this book some spice. I cannot wait until the second book is released and I would recommend this book to all. It has a bit of everything all wrapped in one and I guarantee you will become completely lost within its pages.

Amazon Review. By David Denham (USA). June 25, 2014. Fast-paced with a strong fast moving plot. The content is intense but it adds an edge of realism to an already effective tone of war and espionage. A great first novel!

Amazon Review. By Sterling Gate Books (New Zealand). May 9, 2014: As something of a connoisseur of espionage thrillers, I have to say this is an espionage thriller that truly stands out from the crowd. Well researched, well thought-out and well crafted. A gripping story from start to finish, the characters come alive on the page. Cutting edge technology and international intrigue are combined with non-stop action and unrelenting tension to provide a truly compelling read. Bravo!
