A MACHIAVELLIAN TALE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS

It is the mid-21st century and the world is recovering from what scholars will refer to as the "Jihad War".

Nations of the world united to bring a permanent end to radical terrorism. The unification of the nations has also given birth to the popular concept of a governing World Union, in which the United States intends to be a major player. The timing could not be any better. A presidential election year is on the horizon and a faceless rogue element is committed to having one of their own in the White House.

There were extreme losses of life and property in the concentrated battle theater of the Middle East.

The leading nations of the world emerged victorious over the oppressive extremists that threatened the civil and moral fabric of modern society. The high price of victory was unavoidable.

Nuclear weapons were used in order to bring the destructive war to an abrupt end.

The United States found itself as the sole military and financial leader of the world's war against the radical terrorists. The war's length lasted far beyond what had been predicted, diminishing many of the United States’ resources, specifically, it's wealth, bringing the proud nation to the brink of bankruptcy.

Radiation from the nuclear weapons contaminated 85% of the water supply in the Middle East and large amounts were now being detected in the Atlantic Ocean.

A private and well-funded individual has been anticipating a catastrophe such as this, and has spun a web so delicate, its victims don't realize they are trapped until it's too late. She has assembled the best minds in order to develop a device that would instantly purify polluted and contaminated water.

However, this device is not being developed for humanitarian reasons. It is being developed for wealth and power. Not for an individual, but for a nation…the United States of America.

Keith Daquipil ONION: PRELUDE TO COLLAPSE

I'm inviting you to read my latest book, it was number 1 in Amazon New Release Book Last Month. It's an interquel to The Veil Equation Trilogy. If you enjoy The Da Vinci Code and The X-Files, this book is highly recommended for you.

The story follows Lara Bush as she investigates a series of murders with a similar pattern, leading to the discovery of an anomaly in religion, Nikola Tesla's unpublished experiments, and secret deals with an unknown super-intelligent species.

Christian Fennell The Fiddler in the Night by Christian Fennell

My publisher - Montreal Publishing Company, just released the 2nd edition of my novel, THE FIDDLER IN THE NIGHT.

Here are some of the reviews:

"In essence, the author has created a work of art in word form."
- The US Review of Books

"Fennell’s haunting and poetic prose takes readers through the Godforsaken terrain of rural America on a wild ride to its stunning and heartbreaking conclusion." - San Francisco Book Review

"Haunting and ethereal, Fennell's stand-alone The Fiddler in the Night is a masterpiece of reflection that is at once gritty, disturbing, and hard to put down." - Midwest Book Review

"At times THE FIDDLER IN THE NIGHT is a thriller reminiscent of the dark, intense work of Cormac McCarthy. At times it’s a coming-of-age tale, or a precise portrait of middle America. It manages to be all these things, while also telling an absorbing story. This is a cat-and-mouse tale set in grand, lonely landscapes and peopled with characters that feel achingly real." - Neon Books, UK

Anyway... to celebrate it's release, I'd be happy to make the ebook available to anyone interested in reading it.

Jim Lyon QUIET END

A TWISTED TALE OF VENGEANCE AND GREED

When a spate of sudden deaths occurs amongst the elderly in Ellie's home town, the South Australian ambulance officer grows concerned. And after a man purporting to be the relative of one of the deceased, but who is clearly not, moves into the old man’s house, she becomes suspicious and alerts a local cop, Nick, who takes her concerns seriously.
Nick’s estranged brother Nam has a successful security software company in Sydney, as well as other thriving enterprises. The idea of hastening the demise of the elderly, and in turn freeing up real estate for refugee families in need, is Nam’s. But it is far from a pragmatic scheme with a benevolent intent.
Nam’s devoted assistant Lawrence oversees Angus and Jarrod, who are employed to carry out humane euthanasia (quiet end) on the old people, selected because of their lack of family members. But Jarrod is a sadist and not all of the deaths are peaceful. Evidence of this arouses the suspicion of Ellie when she visits some of the post-mortem scenes.
It is no accident that Nam has chosen to begin this sordid enterprise in the area where his brother lives and works. Nam’s hatred of Nick runs deep because of an horrific event in their teenage years, and he has been hellbent on revenge. But Nam’s all-consuming spite is about to be tested, and he will realize there are more important things in life than vengeance.

Van Tellfaster Greed Among Friends Chapter Review
Novel by Van Tellfaster

When I wrote the first chapter of Greed Among Friends (GAF), I wanted to make readers feel inspired by Laura Applegate's resilience. Introducing her as a determined and resourceful investigator in a high-stakes, nail-biting situation aims to evoke admiration and trust in her abilities. When you read chapter one, you'll see her facing danger with courage and appreciate her limited choices, which makes her relatable and compelling.

Advancing in the story, in chapter 19 of GAF, Laura arrives at Zurich International Airport after fifteen-plus hours in the air. When you read my novel, you will learn that Laura encounters two strange-looking men, Tattoo and his sidekick, Roberto, in the Zurich Airport terminal after she exits the customs area. Tattoo, a gruff-looking man in his early forties who smelled like tobacco, and Roberto, the younger, clean-shaven and seemingly more pleasant of the two men, were targeting single female passengers upon their arrival in Zurich. The scene builds suspense as Laura's instincts kick in, causing her to reject Tattoo and Roberto, making you eager to see what happens next.

It isn't until Chapter 30 of GAF that Laura is suddenly kidnapped by two men in the evening as she walks to her hotel in Zurich, Switzerland. By this point in the story, you will know that Laura arrived in Zurich to investigate an alleged embezzlement at the Cashway Investment Bank. Billionaire Altus Simonton, the owner of Cashway, hired Laura's firm to investigate the reported stolen funds.
However, Laura's surprise encounter with Tattoo and Roberto ends in a tense and dangerous situation. The two culprits kidnap her outside her Zurich hotel and lock her in a warehouse with several other young women, whom they plan to sell somewhere in the Middle East. This action-packed scene is filled with suspense, making you eager to find out how Laura will escape and what comes next.

With each turn of the page, you'll be on the edge of your seat reading Greed Among Friends, a fast-paced novel that can be enjoyed in a single weekend. You can order the book in eBook format, or grab a soft copy at the following website: https://store.bookbaby.com/book/greed....

Enjoy the book, and until next time, remember that Greed Among Friends is a thrilling international crime novel filled with suspense, complex characters, and unexpected twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Van Tellfaster Why I chose Zurich, Switzerland, as the international backdrop for my new thriller, Greed Among Friends

As you may know, Zurich is a global center of banking and finance, located at the northern end of Lake Zurich in northern Switzerland. I thought it would be interesting for my readers to follow Laura Applegate, my main character, to the Cashway Investment Bank, where she encountered two other intriguing characters (Pam Cromwell, the bank manager, and Kim Streusel, a Swiss citizen and assistant bank manager) who both add to the suspense as they become suspects in pursuit of Laura's embezzlement investigation. I also wanted to describe, through Laura's eyes, the exotic and picturesque lanes of the central Alstadt (Old Town), found on either side of the Limmat River, which flows through the city of Zurich. The Old Town area reflects part of the city's pre-medieval history, and Laura fell in love with exploring its shops and eateries while on the job. I, too, found Zurich to be an exceedingly pleasant experience on a previous visit to Switzerland, and, while digging deep into my memory, having experienced Zurich firsthand, it presented plenty of material to place Laura in the place where much of the action occurs.

As for embezzlement, I wasn't sure of the term's meaning, which, after research, I learned is the theft committed by employees or trusted business parties diverting company funds for illegal profit, helping readers grasp the crime's nature. So once I understood the meaning of embezzlement, this allowed me to incorporate into my story the corporate embezzlement crime using Pam Cromwell’s and Robert Fining’s scheme to steal from Altus Simonton, the billionaire owner of Cashway Bank.

Although it was a challenge to read up on and understand the ins and outs of international investment banking, it was fun to weave the topic into my story. In short, global investment banking refers to the services provided by firms and institutions that facilitate cross-border financial transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, capital raising (equity and debt), and strategic advisory for corporations, governments, and other institutions in different countries. While the topic of investment banking may seem boring to some, this was the world that Laura was thrust into as she pursued the mysterious characters in the story. These are all skills that Pam Cromwell and her bank assistant use daily at Cashway Bank. In fact, Cromwell was recognized by the international banking community as a professional at the top of her game. During Laura's investigation, she was challenged to the hilt trying to keep up with Cromwell and Streusel, and, although frustrated at times, she refused to back down and relied on her own investigative skills and intuition to crack her case.

This background information about Greed Among Friends will help my readers better understand my characters, the story's setting, and the overall plot.
