Book 2 in my Detective Inspector James Copperfield series. Need to read Harbinger Island (Book 1), first.
Book Review of All Roads Lead -
The book is everything to quench your desire for adventure and thrill. A perfect storyline, undetected plot twists, scuffle and friendship and a murder mystery to solve. And while there are some already known characters, reading ‘All Roads Lead’ feels like a reunion, but with a hitch.
The plot opens with a sweet scuffle between Detective Inspector Holly Rivers and James Copperfield, on a crime scene. The murder of Eloise Hampton had stirred up trouble for her ex husband who first-hand reported the murder. Appalled, Charles declines outright. He’s never been an intruder and, besides, he has enough on his plate already, with the divorce and the son. The entire book journeys through solving the case, which becomes gruesome after the body is found vividly amputated. While the two detectives relive their uncomforting past together, there is their professional commitment to look after too. And so, the book comes with a constant undertone of humorous melancholy.
There is a lot going on in the story, from professional fracas, to personal conflicts, manipulation of facts and actions that question humane dignity. However, its such eloquently presented, that nothing seems out of the blue. Its chronologically apt and it gives a great insight on human relationships with work, life and people.
The author, Gary Diamond, has outdone himself in providing almost a poetic imagery of beauty of the Georgian property and settings furthermore. However, the technical information and legal aptness of the book, renders readers in complete awe of the writer’s thorough research. It is written in a description dialogue style, which makes the readers comprehend an actual conversation, rather than imagining one. This one peculiarity of writing style, makes the book, much easier to wade through.
The saga of Detective Inspector James Copperfield lives on with this second book in the series and is an absolute delight for the crime thriller seeking audience.

This is as far away from the books I usually read as it possibly could be! I didn’t quite know what to expect but gave it a go- so glad I did! One of the best books I’ve ever read. So hard to put down, fast paced, full of action, Just brilliant.
I have no idea why it took me in but, once in, there was no way I could put it down until I knew the outcome. The most unlikely teenage hero but he’s a true star!
I cannot recommend this book enough, an absolute roller
coaster of a book. Loved it.
Brilliant book from start to finish! Full of twists and turns, proper gripping story, took me by surprise on a few occasions even shed a tear! Deffo worth a read

Hi everyone!
Trigger Point, A Nicholas Ford Novel, by Tony Roth, is a spy thriller/historical novel that is quite exciting in its content.
This book was inspired by true events, historical fiction with characters that are deep, provoking and dangerous. The human relationship facets of the book will draw in men and women.
Roth says he has been influenced by such best-selling authors as: Ian Fleming, John le Carre, Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Nora Roberts, David Baldacci. This is Roth’s first novel in the Nicholas Ford Series.
A short synopsis:
When the CIA recruited him...
...they said he would need to make sacrifices for his country.
Did he understand they meant he'd give up everything?
Growing up in the Midwest, Nicholas, a farm boy, knew how to work hard and understood the importance of friends and family. It's 1985 and his old coach just gave him a call and asked if his friend could come to the University of Illinois for a chat. Nick had no idea Vincent was CIA, but it didn't matter.
The man knew how to play the patriot card.
One year in and his life was changed forever.
Go deep undercover with Nick, posing as Sean Smith, a graduate student in agriculture interning for the USAID in Colombia. The year is 1986 and he’s up to his neck in contra rebels, Central American dictators, corrupt operatives and the Cartel, and a mysterious Spanish interpreter who is far more than what she seems.

San Francisco Police Detective Daniel Winters literally has a nose for crime. His sense of smell is so sensitive that a youthful job in a hotel kitchen with its cacophony of aromas nearly drove him mad. But getting out of the kitchen and behind the bar introduced him to the world of wine, which inspired him to become a sommelier. Then he failed the final exam.
A left turn in life landed him at the police academy, which led him to Annie. Their life together was perfect until her illness. In the two years since she died, Dan has barely begun to let her go. She was the reason he chose to work the suicide squad, a choice that's now leading him to work the scenes at a bizarre string of apparent suicides.
But these allegedly self-inflicted deaths make no sense. The deceased all had healthy, full lives ahead of them. They had loving families and friends who were puzzled and hurt by recent changes in their loved one's behavior. None of the dead appeared to know each other in life. Strangest of all, each of them, in the moments before they died, had uncorked laid out a delicious, gourmet spread paired with wine. And not just any wine, but fine wines from some of the world's best vineyards.
The details leave Dan searching for answers to questions that none of his colleagues have even thought to ask. And that's the problem: Chief, whose idea of fine food and drink is burgers and beer, doesn't see any sense in the questions Dan is asking. To his mind, Dan is failing to work as one of a team and his leads are costing the department money it doesn't have.
Forbidden to spend any more official time on these cases, Dan starts looking into them on his own time. He loops in the vivacious, curvaceous, red-haired Kristin, an old friend from sommelier school who’s now in charge of all things wine-related at one San Fran’s finest restaurants. But even as he follows clues from the first and second suicides, more bizarre deaths taunt him.
To Chief, that’s the job: you rule one death a suicide and move on to the next. To Dan, it’s more personal: families and friends, bewildered and bereaved, have a right to a thorough investigation. Chasing that truth, Dan follows his nose around the city, across the continent, and over an ocean to pursue an outcome no one but he would even have suspected.
This is my first novel. I've already written the second installment in the Daniel Winters mysteries and hope to publish it later this year or early next. But first I need to get this one off the ground.
I'm looking for ARC readers. I have a nearly final draft ready to go by PDF, or I'll have a print paperback ready to go by the end of June. It comes in waves.
It's already too late for most of us. Walking around with bio-bombs ticking away in our bloodstreams. Bombs that are synchronized to go off together. Before you know it you're diving into the deep end of depravity. A pool of insanity you're never coming back from. Surfacing once or twice to witness the horrors you've caused before your soul takes a deep breath and disappears forever.
It's not natural.
The infections occurring simultaneously across the globe prove it's not a freak phenomena. Someone is behind the pandemic that's turning people into insane cannibals. Who'd benefit from so much death and chaos though? The humanity of whatever group pulled the trigger on this madness is seriously up for debate.
There's No Vaccine
Chris watches as the world around him falls apart. Bitten by a loved one he hovers in a feverish state for weeks. His recovery carefully observed by a group that considers itself above humanity. A group that sees people as prey. Chris becomes a pawn in the war to determine the future of mankind. Follow him as he evolves from being a frazzled twenty something college educated mama's boy into something more. Hopefully it's enough.

The central theme of 'The Roads Chosen' is the abuse, the hazing, (known as the 'rule of the grandfathers' ('dedovshchina')) suffered by young Russian military conscripts; and an underground network that works to escape the vulnerable from the clutches of the military and relocate them to the remote farms and settlements throughout the FSU (a network British Intelligence know nothing of and are soon to find, they should have 'joined the dots'). Woven into this plot-line the author captures a cesspit of criminality: drug trafficking, money laundering, organised crime, the control of the Russian state, which is still held in an iron-clad fist of former KGB, and the involvement of British Intelligence as they try to find the 'goings-on' behind a tip-off they receive.
Whilst the spies in London are blowing the dust of files in the archives, a young, naïve, itinerant discovers the 'cesspit': unfortunately, he makes mistakes, goes on the run, gets injured and ends up in the care of ... guess who?
This is a self-published work, and, it would seem, has not been picked up by one of the more 'well-known' publishing houses, then touted to their friends in mainstream media: one has to wonder why? The quality of writing and plotting far exceeds that which, today, the publishing industry snatch at and flaunt to us as, 'the best thriller this year, etc, etc, etc ...' Is it that the author's own biography is not something he wishes to boast?
You will, often, hear of those that have lived in the shadows, and have since taken to a quiet life, somewhere rural. They shy from the camera. They live a 'grey life'. I note that the author is yet to put his face on display!
This is an ingenious conspiracy thriller, written with a degree of assurance that smacks of a professional, and at the same time a most informative book of fiction (I learnt loads). It is thought provoking and I put it down more times than I can remember: to think hard about what I was reading. It's not one of those 'get lost in the world of 'unrestrained delusion' spy stories', of which, I have read more than few. I had to read it twice (so as to pin all the salient facts down) and I will be reading it again, over 'Crimbo', to once more nail the facts home: that, I'm sure, is not everyone's cuppà, and it might put some off.
The author contends: "this is what is happening today, in Russia." It opened my eyes to what is 'really' going on in the FSU.
It is a groundbreaking, self-published, debut novel, from a Goodreads author, providing eye-opening revelations of a dark, underworld that exists within former Soviet states; describing the lives of those who live and work in-the-shadows: a world that few know of, or contemplate, and, above all else, has genuine authenticity; under-pining the plot, the author has provided a 'Fact Section', as a forward: a series of statements from news agencies, such as Reuters, and quotes from testimony given by such bodies as, 'The Drug Enforcement Agency'.
With locations as far apart as London and Kazakhstan, it describes the link between organised crime, Central Asian counter-terrorism agencies, government corruption and the trafficking of opium from Afghanistan. There is a sense, in the author's writing, of him having a first-hand and knowledgeable background in such collusions. Where that might come from, I can only postulate: D.O.E? A counter-terrorism agency? Foreign Affairs? An intelligence agency? There is, throughout, weight given to the methods and practice adopted by those who live and work 'in-the-shadows'; which does, in my book, lend toward how things must be done, in the real-world of espionage.
Here, you'll find an array of characters: the ordinary, everyday, working folk of the former Soviet states, the time-served spies behind desks in London, ex-KGB operatives plying their trade from within what are respectable business fronts, and a family, in Russia, working to rescue abused conscripts: all strong characters, cleverly developed and prominent in the part they play. Alongside of this, the scene-setting is palpable.
The first chapters draw you in, providing relevant geo-political observation and meaty biographies of the main characters: during this opening gambit, we see how the protagonist uses his knowledge and skills to build a believable 'yarn' to support his arrival in Kazakhstan (a history that few know of, or contemplate). From there, the author ratchets the tension up, and with the conspiracy unfolding, you are taken, once more, into a world that few know of, or contemplate.
This is a self-published work, and, it would seem, has not been picked up by one of the more 'well-known' publishing houses, then touted to their friends in mainstream media: one has to wonder why? The quality of writing and plotting far exceeds that which, today, the publishing industry snatch at and flaunt to us as, 'the best thriller this year, etc, etc, etc ...' Personally, I've not read a better 'crime-suspence-spy' novel for many a year. The Amazon blurb, which I presume is penned by the author, DOES NOT proclaim him to be: 'the next true master of the spy novel' or, 'the best spy novelist since ...' Those works, many of which I have read, can't hold-a-candle to this.
I have tried to 'dig-up-the-bones' (the author's words). My findings suggest, somewhere between 2,000 and 4,000 desert each year: most during the winter months, without winter clothing, without money and in the main without the ability to read and write: and, these conscripts ain't posted to a barracks ten miles from home. Military policy results in these 'youngsters' being billeted halfway across the country.
My contention is: "come the thaw, where are the bodies?" When I asked the author, he said, "Good question."
The academic work, 'Dedovshchina in the Post Soviet Military: Hazing of Russian Army Conscripts in a Comparative Perspective', edited by Françoise Daucé and Elisabeth Sieca-Kozlowski, suggests, this, the most awful of sufferings, since the fall of Soviet rule, has worsened and not lessened. I will refer you to: https://www.rferl.org/a/1055451.html
On Amazon as both an ebook and in paperback: Goodreads, for some reason does not know it's in paperback.
NOTE: having read this book, via Goodreads, I made contact with the author, and I have since become a 'Goodreads' friend of his.
Also, this review is written in part by, and with the permission of, Mr Thomas Price (a Goodreads member).

This first standalone "disturbingly good" book in The Trouble series is a powerful psychological thriller set in Ireland and Sheffield. It tells the life story of Liam O’Sullivan in all its twisted glory. The thriller begins with tales of Liam’s challenging childhood in Dublin and follows him through tragic events that change him into a misogynistic, controlling, ultimately lethal bully living in Sheffield. Liam thought he could do as he pleased until he was taught otherwise. Prepare to be shocked in different ways throughout the book. If you enjoy lashings of dark humour, situations to make your eyes pop out, and thrills of every kind all wrapped up in a gripping, dramatic storyline, please read on.
I’ve written and published the next three books in the Trouble series. They are all explicit erotic thrillers following on from Liam’s story. I’ve published The Trouble With Trouble, Trouble In Cornwall, and Troubled. None of the books in this series are for the easily shocked as they contain explicit adult material.
