The Hostile

The Hostile by Joy Mutter

THE HOSTILE is a “refreshingly original” contemporary paranormal thriller. “A bizarrely captivating” read. It’s book one of The Hostile series. Book two, Holiday for The Hostile, was published in December 2016. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone. The third book in the series, The Hostile Game, will be published on Amazon in Kindle and paperback at the end of April 2017. I’m currently writing book four, Confronting The Hostile.

In a rundown area of Manchester, inside the bathroom of a terraced house overflowing with children and dysfunctional parents, a powerful entity befriends young Serena with disastrous results. This unlikely enigmatic force not only dramatically affects introverted Serena’s life but also threatens the well-being of everyone she knows, especially those people who've earned the strange girl’s displeasure. It soon becomes clear that nobody should ever upset Serena … if they know what’s good for them. After reading The Hostile, you’ll never look at D.I.Y. in the same way again.

All nine of my Kindle editions on Amazon are £0.99 each or equivalent currencies and always free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers. The paperback versions won’t break the bank either. If you enjoy audiobooks, two of my books, The Hostile, and Her demonic Angel, are also available on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes as audiobooks.

P.K. Davies I have twelve paperback copies of my crime-thriller, GETTING TYSON to give away to anyone who will write a review of it.

Getting Tyson by P.K. Davies

EXCERPT
It was a good hotel with a good restaurant which, she knew, would always interest Marcus. She looked her best in a red dress with a low neckline which complimented her tanned skin and black hair. It was tight at the waist and showed, even seventeen years later, why she had been chosen for a Playboy centrefold. They had reached the pudding stage before she got to the point of their meeting.
"I'm thinking of leaving Dave," she told him. She waited for Marcus' reaction but he chose to wait for more.
"The girls are getting older," she explained. "I'm not sure they are going to want a father like Dave around when they know what he's like."
Marcus immediately saw the problem. "Dave's not the sort of person to let go of anything," he reminded her. "There is no way he would let you divorce him and there is certainly no chance he would let you take the girls."
"Why not?" she argued. "He doesn't love me. I'm just a part of his business."
"A very important part of his business - and that is why he would never let you leave. You are too valuable."
Francine looked miserable. "I know. He would never leave us alone, would he? What can I do?" she pleaded.
Marcus took a sip of Sauternes. "Kill him," he said.

Joy Mutter Holiday for the Hostile

Holiday for the Hostile by Joy Mutter

HOLIDAY FOR THE HOSTILE, the book two in The Hostile series, is a gripping contemporary paranormal crime thriller with a splash of horror. It was published on Amazon in Kindle and paperback editions in December 2016 and can be read as a standalone like the other books in the series. Serena, plus her unusual friend and partner in crime, Tile X, reluctantly find themselves suffering a family holiday at her eccentric grandfather’s hovel in Ireland. Who will manage to escape intact from their dramatic holiday from Hell?

Readers tell me Holiday for The Hostile is even better than book one, The Hostile, the paranormal thriller I published on Amazon 8 months before its sequel. Book three of The Hostile series, The Hostile Game, was published on Amazon in April 2017 in paperback and Kindle editions. I’m currently writing book four, Confronting The Hostile.

Here’s a snapshot of what a few of the readers say about Holiday for The Hostile: “Ms Mutter has carved out a new niche for herself. And from where I'm standing, she's way out in front … With some books, you get an idea where things are going and where they're likely to end. Not this one. Every chapter was a surprise with new characters and situations and a bunch of wonderfully inventive deaths.” “It has plenty of scary bits … can't wait until book three is out.” “The end is a total surprise. Was expecting a skeleton in the family closet, but it turns in a completely different direction, keeping you on your toes and guessing.” “Excellent. Really looking forward to more. Joy tells a good tale.”

David Liscio Only 4 days to go. Feeling grateful.

Writing a book and hoping people will read it, like it and spread the word, is truly a leap of faith.
When my serial killer thriller Deadly Fare was published in October, I waited nervously for the first reviews to post on Amazon. And just when I wasn't looking at my computer screen, they popped up. Five stars. Five stars. Five stars.

I've so many people to thank, starting with those who read the book and posted such positive reviews during that first scary week or two: Sarah Risher, Tom Farmer, Drew Yanno, Jackie Jacobs, Tom Mazzarini, Peggy Van Sleen.

Then came my new British acquaintances, online friends with many followers who enjoy crime fiction and write reviews: author Anita Waller and blogger Susan Hampson. And others who gave Deadly Fare a boost by publishing author interviews on their blogs, as if the book world might be interested in me: Susan Hunter, Lucy V. Hay and Mercedes Fox.

Help also arrived from Crime Fiction Lover, who added Deadly Fare to the website's "Ten to Taste" List.

Without this kind of support, I'd be lost instead of inspired to write a sequel.

Four days from now, Deadly Fare goes on Amazon super sale for the first time ever. It'll be 99 cents for ONE WEEK ONLY. I hope you'll grab a copy and enjoy the story, one which would never have seen the light of day had it not been for so many people.

Feeling grateful.

Description:
After twenty years as an enforcer for the Vice family mob, Nicholas Pierce shouldn’t bat an eye at seeing a guy get worked over and tossed in the river. But there’s something about the suspected police mole, Miles, which has Pierce second guessing himself. The kid is just trying to look out for his brother anyway he knows how, and the altruistic motive sparks an uncharacteristic act of mercy that involves Pierce taking Miles under his wing.

When Miles wants to repay Pierce for saving his life, Pierce shouldn’t see him as anything but a convenient hookup…. And he sure as hell shouldn’t get involved in Miles’s doomed quest to get his brother out of a rival street gang, the Cobras. He shouldn’t do a lot of things, but life on the streets isn’t about following the rules. Besides, he’s sick of being abused by the Vice family, especially Mr. Vice and his power-hungry goon of a son that treats his underlings like playthings.

So Pierce does the absolute last thing he should do if he wants to keep breathing—he decides to leave the Vice family in the middle of a turf war.

Lee Goldberg Hi all,

My mystery thriller THE MENTOR from Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin's Press is coming out on June 13th and available for pre-order now!! The Mentor by Lee Matthew Goldberg

Kyle Broder has achieved his lifelong dream and is an editor at a major publishing house.

When Kyle is contacted by his favorite college professor, William Lansing, Kyle couldn’t be happier. Kyle has his mentor over for dinner to catch up and introduce him to his girlfriend, Jamie, and the three have a great time. When William mentions that he’s been writing a novel, Kyle is overjoyed. He would love to read the opus his mentor has toiled over.

Until the novel turns out to be not only horribly written, but the most depraved story Kyle has read.

After Kyle politely rejects the novel, William becomes obsessed, causing trouble between Kyle and Jamie, threatening Kyle’s career, and even his life. As Kyle delves into more of this psychopath’s work, it begins to resemble a cold case from his college town, when a girl went missing. William’s work is looking increasingly like a true crime confession.

Lee Matthew Goldberg's The Mentor is a twisty, nail-biting thriller that explores how the love of words can lead to a deadly obsession with the fate of all those connected and hanging in the balance.

The first chapter can be previewed here at Macmillan's website
https://us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

Hope you enjoy!

A giant blue diamond is found in South Africa, and who could have thought a stone could cause so much trouble.

Or jump to nearly the end (not quite the end, as you'll want something more to read).

Michael Frase I am hosting a giveaway for my book, Fatal Gift!Fatal Gift

The brutal rape and murder of a local celebrity in a rural Tennessee field. It was the perfect hit, or so the killer thought. However, Kasey Riteman saw it all, hidden just a few feet away, frozen in fear. Despite being flat broke and hounded by a decade of bad choices, she is determined to bring justice to the other woman. To this end, Kasey devises a “foolproof” scheme to help the cops find the killer without becoming involved herself. What Kasey cannot know is that she has just sought help from the very men responsible for the woman’s assassination.

I would love for your feedback!

Rick This was a very enjoyable book. Mr. Arquete offered to send me a free copy a while ago but I bought my own. Nice action-packed book that focuses an interesting billionaire, drones and state terrorism. I am looking to Mr. Arquete next addition to this timely series.

Jake Remington I'm giving away free copies of my book in exchange for review - so far it's been very well received so you've got some hope of a good read - get it?

If you're interested in a free PDF just drop me a note.

The book is a multi-dimensional psychological thriller, erotic in some sections so if a bit of graphic sex bothers you maybe it's not your thing.

WRETCHED

Bruce McLean had a very tragic youth, but middle aged now, he’s built a very good life for himself. He thinks he’s won the lottery when he meets and starts seeing Tara – younger, beautiful, sexy, and athletic she shares his love of vigorous outdoor activities – hard core mountain biking, skiing, climbing – things couldn’t be any better for Bruce.

Until he realizes she is a psychopath – now things couldn’t be any worse…. Wretched (Bruce Mclean, #1) by Jake Remington

James Mack Good afternoon from a sunny Scotland. My second novel Only the Dead has just been published and gathering some great reviews as a page-turning thriller. Reviewers have compared it to Gerald Seymour which is obviously high praise indeed! I've used a lot of my own background and personal experiences to give some authenticity to the story and again, seems to have worked well. Be great to hear from other Goodreads members what they think.
