H.A. Raynes THRILLED to be here. My novel, Nation of Enemies, was released this Tuesday. It's been a wild ride so far. Please check it out if you're interested and add it to your TBR list! The book blurb:

A chilling, suspenseful new thriller in the vein of Michael Crichton and James Rollins

It's all about the genetics. DNA. Black & white.Nation of Enemies

A decade ago the US government mandated that all citizens be issued biochips containing all of their medical information and an id number indicating a person's health. Then they made the information public—the implications of which were wide-spread and devastating.

Now on the eve of the 2032 presidential election, the country is deeply divided and on the brink of civil war. But as the two major political parties face off, innocent Americans are dying at the hands of masked terrorists. When the Liberty Party's presidential nominee is assassinated in a highly-coordinated, masterful attack, it sets off a chain of events that will change the course of history and leave America's inalienable rights—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—dangling on the precipice of extinction.

Marta Tandori Hi Everyone,

My YA historical mystery, LAST STOP KLINDENSPIEL, a Kate Stanton Hollywood Mystery Extra, is now available for free download across all Amazon sites until August 26, 2015. It's currently ranked #1 on Amazon in YA Holocaust Fiction. Download your free copy today!

Here's a bit about the book:

Combining the survival instincts made famous in THE HUNGER GAMES with the intensity of THE BOOK THIEF, LAST STOP KLINDENSPIEL is a tightrope of horrors that will make readers think twice about running away to join the circus…
It’s been eight years since the Second World War has ended – long enough for people to forgive and forget – but feelings of hate run deep in Norway against people like fifteen-year-old Katya Holberg and her family. Separated from her father when the Allies liberated Poland, Katya and the rest of her family are sent to an internment camp in Oslo where they’re eventually rescued by a Norwegian war hero. After four tumultuous years together, he brutally murders her sister, forcing Katya and her mother to seek refuge with her grandmother in faraway Droeback where Katya’s mother is murdered by villagers soon after their arrival. Fearing for her safety, Katya’s grandmother sends her to Klindenspiel, the only circus of its kind in Europe, where all of the performers are children. Once there, Katya quickly learns that all of the young performers share her terrible secret, making them more like her than she could ever have imagined. Things become complicated when Klindenspiel’s artistic director pairs Katya with Aleks, a good-looking but secretive seventeen-year-old, who’s skilled in acrobatics and dance. Curious about, and attracted to her new partner, Katya secretly follows him one night and learns the horrible truth behind Klindenspiel’s magic. With the curtains about to rise on Klindenspiel’s newest show, Katya and Aleks must give the performance of a lifetime – both on and off the stage – because their lives, and those of their fellow performers, are depending on it.

Blanche Manos I always appreciate the positive comments from readers of the Darcy and Flora mother/daughter sleuths series. I noticed one of the topics for discussion is mysteries set in the deep South. Well, The Cemetery Club, Grave Shift, and Best Left Buried are set in rural Oklahoma but that's south if you're from Kansas or points north! Moonlight Can Be Murder, due to be released in November, is set is another small Oklahoma town. Different town, different protagonists, but, hopefully, an intriguing cozy mystery.

Steven Freeman Hi Folks!

I'm fortunate to have a wonderful group of beta readers who have helped me with the last few novels in my series.

However, since I write each book to be a stand-alone work, I always like to request the assistance of a beta reader who has not previously read my work. This provides great feedback for its "stand-alone-ability."

This is a 90k-word international thriller with a small thread of romance.

Please PM me if you're interested.

Following is a brief description:
In “Tears of God”, a chance encounter leads FBI Agent Mallory Blackwell to investigate the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of her father, Cutter Wilson, years ago. Their only informant murdered, Mallory and cryptologist husband Alton lead an NSA team on a round-the-world quest to track down the perpetrator of a mysterious toxicological project. The sleuths must summon all their investigatory skills in a desperate bid to follow a trail of clues to the hidden truth of Cutter Wilson’s death, a discovery exceeding their wildest expectations.

When finally information comes to light about her whereabouts, more than one person is looking for Miranda.

His investigation suddenly takes on a much more personal meaning and a betrayal puts Miranda in danger. Can ‘Ryder’ save her before Rafe gets her in his sights? Will either of them be a match for someone else who has also been watching and waiting? Read on to discover what happens.

EYES IN THE MIRROR
Chapter One

‘I free my soul upon the wind
To fly amongst the clouds
And shield me from the man in black
Who stalks me like a shroud’

********

To find myself I have to lose myself....

Miranda Bartlett looked down at the words of her latest diary entry. The stark truth that she had run from for so long was staring her in the face. She looked into the mirror and the eyes staring back looked desolate. Could she do it? Could she lose the last but most important part of who she was? Her name? Looking again at those eyes in the mirror “I am still me” she said to herself. The eyes stared back, void of any answer. “No matter what name I use I am still me underneath it all”

A noise, a door opening, spun her into a maelstrom of sheer terror. Hands trembling, she placed the diary into the hiding place she had made underneath the bottom shelf of the bathroom sink cupboard, quickly pushing the board back into place. Discovery was simply not an option.

Re-arranging the assorted bottles hastily, Miranda pulled at her panties with one hand and sat down abruptly on the toilet. Her heart hammered as she listened to each footstep coming closer. The creak of the bedroom door alerted her to his presence in the room beyond. Flushing the toilet to let him know she was within; she took a deep breath and opened the door to the bedroom.

Rafe stood in front of the dressing table taking off his shirt revealing the chiselled torso that had once made her mouth water with desire. His smooth, hard pecs reflected in the mirror reminded her of the kind of poster that teenage girls pinned to their wall, an unobtainable fantasy. If only they knew that under that glorious skin lay a darkness that would make most of them pee their pants. Miranda knew that beauty was definitely only skin deep. If you couldn’t see beneath then you gambled with your life.

For one sad, fleeting moment she wished he was the man she had imagined he could be. Now the muscles that rippled with his movement, instead of arousing her, brought only echoes of the pain they had caused. His physical beauty hid the blackness of the monster that lived beneath, ready to rear up at the slightest provocation.

The roughness that had once excited her now elicited nothing more than bone deep fear. It was the only emotion that she had left for the man; he had killed everything else punch by ruthless punch. Had there ever been any tenderness? Maybe once, but it had been short lived. Rafe was a man who needed control, and controlling Miranda was his greatest pleasure. She had lost control of her own life the minute Rafe had decided she belonged to him. There had never really been much in the way of a choice on her part. Now she was trapped, like a bird in a cage, the freedom to do what she liked long gone.

As she watched him in the mirror she wondered what made him tick. It was something she had tried to figure out over the months. All she really knew was that he had built up an empire around him, a well oiled machine of clubs, drug distribution and protection rackets. The lower a person fell, the more profitable they were to Rafe. His only problem was that there was always someone out there looking to take over his territory. His paranoia on this front knew no bounds. He could not rest, could show no fear.

The constant struggle to remain at the top of the food chain pushed his limits to the extreme, and when those limits stretched beyond endurance, she was always there as his own personal punch bag. Oh, there were the protestations of love, yet Miranda knew soul deep that Rafe had never really known what real love was all about. Deep down he was more broken than she was. Secure in his ownership of her, there was no more pretence now. He didn’t even try to hide the details of his business from her anymore. After all, where could she go that she would be safe?

She inhaled a long, deep breath. Claiming her life back would take very careful planning. It was literally a matter of life or death. In truth there was no real choice. A short life, lived to the full was better than the lingering death she was living now, even if she survived the physical abuse, her soul was terminally bleeding out.

It was time now for operation ‘Freedom Run’ as she liked to call it, to begin. The ‘yes’ men and bodyguards surrounding Rafe would do anything he asked of them, some because they enjoyed it, and others because they had no choice.

The business Rafe dealt in attracted those with no morals, the dregs of society who relished the cruelty of the underworld, others simply owed him a debt they could never repay, and if they ever realised this and tried to break free, they soon learned their mistake. Most were too far gone into their addictions or vice to ever be free again, and many ended their days in a blissful high. The only grief shown by Rafe was for the loss of a regular customer.

Over the last two years Miranda had learned to keep her eyes down and her mouth well and truly shut. She obeyed every command and followed every rule. This didn’t always save her, a perceived misdemeanour could always be found if he felt the need to punish, which was more and more often of late. There were also the little reminders of what happened to anyone who dared to oppose him. Vulgar abuses of human rights that left her sick to her stomach. Not that she could show it.

Miranda had become adept at hiding her own injuries and even better at showing a stoic face when around others.

Rafe also had other ways in which to keep her at heel, remembering with a shudder one particular evening, forced to watch as a man had his kneecaps obliterated with a hammer for refusing to pay the protection money that would have left his family without food. Instead, he was left at the side of the road, so badly damaged that he was no longer able to work, his wife threatened with a fate too monstrous to describe. The man’s business had been ‘Sold’ to Rafe at a bargain price and the destroyed couple forgotten as the business of the next day began. There were others, those whose fate she had not witnessed that had never been seen again. It was best not to think about those. There were enough nightmares disturbing her sleep.

David Callinan The Immortality Plot (Mike Delaney Thriller) by David Callinan

The Immortality Plot

Ex US government assassin and Hong Kong Police martial arts enforcer Mike Delaney is kicked out of the force on a trumped up charge along with his partner Bob Messenger.

Delaney drops out and joins a reclusive esoteric monastic brotherhood while Messenger forms confess-confess.com – a global crime busting website where ordinary people fight back against injustice, each with their own code name.
Delaney falls in love, leaves the monastery and marries. One year later his investigative journalist wife is brutally murdered by a contract serial killer known as 'The Priest'. She is one of many.

Delaney vows to track down 'The Priest'. He discovers his wife was about to expose a global plot known as The Renaissance Project involving the richest and most powerful people on the planet who pay huge sums to attain true immortality. The 'Priest' is their tame assassin (but Lucius Gynt is not as tame as they think he is).

On the confess-confess website Delaney's code name is 'The Monk'. His search for 'The Priest', and uncovering the labyrinthine Renaissance Project will test his skills to the limit and put his life on the line.

Shawn Lealos I figured that my book isn't a mystery, but why not...

My book is a non-fiction novel called "Dollar Deal: The Story of the Stephen King Dollar Baby Filmmakers" and is about filmmakers who made their Hollywood dreams come true thanks to the generosity of King's Dollar Baby program, where he allows aspiring filmmakers to make a short film based on one of his short stories for just $1. One of the guys I interviewed adapted an AMAZING version of King's Umney's Last Case, which is a great supernatural detective story.

I am going to make the eBook Amazon Exclusive through the Select program later this month after I get it taken off all the other sites it is onsale for right now.

Anyway, here is my Goodreads link:

H.A. Raynes NATION OF ENEMIES is now in print! Some early praise from the ebook release:

"Sometimes the comfort of reading fiction is knowing that it is not real...But when a piece of fiction depicts such a plausible near future — and a dark, dystopian one at that — it is truly chilling. That’s what HA Raynes has done here. The sheer real-world plausibility of the plot of Nation of Enemies is what makes it riveting. And terrifying."

"I recommend "Nation of Enemies" very highly. It's both a fantastic novel and an important cautionary tale about our willingness to accept the proliferation of technology at the expense of our privacy."

"Awesome read!!! Nation of Enemies keeps you captivated and at the edge of your seat from the beginning!"

"Despite the fact that I'm a newlywed and should be devoting time to my new spouse, I couldn't put this book down. Nation of Enemies examines factors at work in our society today (fear of terrorism, concerns about personal liberty/privacy, technology that makes the world better but also creates devastation) and imagines what those elements could be like in 15 years if things take a wrong turn. It's a dystopic viewpoint, but so believable in Raynes's rendering. The story held me from start to finish, and I was happy to see that the novel ended in a way that was satisfying but believable."

H.A. Raynes Release Party is Thursday, October 8th @7pm at Newtonville Books (http://newtonvillebooks.com). The author will read and do a book signing. Come one, come all!

Magnus Stanke Morning All!
My Retro-Thriller 'Falling in Death and Love' is currently in the Kindle Scout programme and I'd appreciate it immensely if you all have a look and voted towards its publication. And if I win YOU win a free copy.
Let me tell you a little about it: the scenario is classic Hitchcockian (fugitive man has to prove his innocence while police & gangsters give chase) but with several twists (which I don't want give away). It's set in 1977 in post-Franco Mallorca).
Many thanks

Graham Hello all.

My debut novel No Free Man has just gone up online at Pantera Press (and will hopefully be on GR soon). See it here.

No Free Man will be released in book stores across Australia and New Zealand on 4 January 2016 and can be ordered online to ship overseas. It will also be available as an e-book.

Synopsis:

Stepan Volkov forfeited his future when he was paid to forget his past.

Forced to adapt, he ultimately became the world's most wanted killer... feared, vicious and brutal.

A tool of the Organizatsiya, a Russian crime syndicate that forged him into 'The Wolf', he's pursued by American spies and Australian agents, torn between his need to survive and his desire to be free.

When a shock encounter in Australia uncovers forgotten secrets and threatens uneasy allegiances, Volkov suddenly sees a choice... one he thought would never be his to make.

With a billion-dollar international oil deal threatening to shift the global balance of power, will Volkov return to Moscow to wage war for the Organizatsiya, or will he find the courage to escape with a vengeful thief whose life he destroyed?

Cheers,

Graham

Angel To take a sneak peak at the first 36 chapters of my dark noir thriller, "Weeping Well," soon to be published on Amazon in a few weeks, go here:

Summary: Eva Murphy loses someone close to her. To top it off she's being shipped away and in the midst of all the horror and tragedy she finds love. This story has a lot of plot twists and more than one mystery. Feedback is appreciated.

Since I wasn't able to PM you I have to post it all here, sorry.

I have entered the book and the ebook according to the media release data. Unfortunatelly the cover provided for within the media realease kit isn't working in the GR library - we need a jpg-file. If you send it to me or to the librarian group we can finish the entry.

Even though I checked before I started the entry I didn't found the other author called Graham Potts and the system linked you book automatically to his books. Since I'm a new librarian and didn't want to make a big mess I ask already for help to get that strait. So it will be either fixed or an other librarian will contact you too.

Is there planned a Kindle edition too? If yes will it be the same release date as the paperback and the ebook or a later one?

BTW it's really a cool story and I hope the ebook or Kindle will be available for the German market too so I can read it sometime :-)

Sorry almost forgot, here the entry as it is by now:
No Free Man

It's fixed now. If you contact me I explain how you claim your new author's paige.
