AJ Lark Hi All. I am A. J. Lark.

I am a teacher and writer with a focus on middle-grade readers.

I am looking forward to getting into Goodreads and this group and engaging with other authors.

Some years ago I wrote a book for a grade 5 class I was teaching. They gave me amazing feedback which shaped the story. That book was published by HarperCollins.

I have since revised and updated that book and written two sequels. The first book in the series, The Pirate's Hideout (originally Pirate's Cove), will be available on Amazon later in October. The others will follow.

Greetings to everyone here!

hirumei Hi, everyone! I’m Hirumeira, or Hiru for short, though Mei is another strong alternative too. I came across this group through Book Sirens after I got an invite to join the community over there as well. I’m a reader based in Europe and my favorite genres revolve around fantasy, historical and YA. Recently, I’ve also launched a blog (Wits and Twists) where I plan to post my book reviews, rants, thoughts and everything in between. Currently, it’s a WIP, a weekly progression.

I’m currently reading 3 or four books which fall under different genres. Even though I have not yet listed all here, on goodreads.
Fun fact: books are like a tunnel to Wonderland and I may turn into a vampire if you feed me garlic. Jk.

Nice to meet you all.

Emily Bryce Hello! My name is Emily.
I've been on goodreads for a while now but not actually taken the plunge to start chatting with people, so I figured its finally time. I hope you are all doing well.

I'm an avid, if slow reader. I've written several books, published two of them and I'm always looking to find more literary minded friends.

Its great to meet you all!

Marie Hi all,

Like so many before me, I am a debut author hoping to connect with potential readers!

I love reading and writing historical fiction and romance, and any opportunity to combine the two. I read and write high stakes drama, strong women, battle couples, and any opportunity to overthrow corruption.

Sean Auraist Thanks for adding me to the group. I’m new to Goodreads, and am especially keen to connect with readers, writers, editors, publishers, publicists, and reviewers who value stylishly written prose in nonfiction and fiction, with a view to identifying and promoting works of this type. If that sounds like your kind of thing, it would be great to hear from you.

I spent the better part of a decade working in law enforcement and use those experiences to pen stories for my MC, Paul Dodge. I'm also an avid reader and review books on my YouTube channel, Library Libations, where I pair a book with a drink.

Sofia Gabel Hi, everyone!

I'm a multi-genre author and love sci-fi, like so many others here! I don't only read sci-fi, though, and love a good thriller, an occasional romance, paranormal stuff, and definitely historical fiction. In addition to writing, I love being outdoors, hiking and gardening, and LOVE cats. I had hairless Sphynx for a while and now have a crazy half-Sphynx (she has fur).

Glad to meet everyone :)

Chapter_Weaver Greetings from Philadelphia, PA.

Thanks to such easy access to the internet nowadays, I've recently got back into one of my favorite hobbies... reading! I enjoy a plethora of genres but most times I can be found reading thrillers, mysteries, memoirs, non-fiction, dystopias and others that are mentioned on my profile. I'm excited to have also found this group. I am hoping to meet some great people and make some great connections.

Thanks for having me :)

Sheri Welcome Chapter_Weaver!

message 4833: by Adrian (new)

Adrian Harlow Hi all! I'm Adrian and I'm a writer. I also love to read. Some of my favorite genre's include literary fiction, fantasy, science fiction and horror.

I joined Goodreads this year, and so far I am really enjoying it. I love making new friends so please feel free to send me a request. Namaste!

message 4835: by Aegelis (new)

Aegelis Good evening,

I'm Aegelis by pen name, newly published within the past year. Some books were just sitting on the shelf until recently when publishing was made much more accessible for writers. In total, three novella-length books are available (one dark comedy, one sea adventure, one personal development) so far and finishing a fourth, which may be novel-length. Through my YouTube channel, I've gotten to interview other authors and a musician, which I think was quite a treat.

Additionally, I'm a Christian biochemist whose hobbies include online gaming, retro-gaming, wushu, movies, antique postcard collecting, theatre, comics, and yard sales. Favourites include Edgar Allan Poe stories, Emily Dickinson poems, Indian food, and various music genres such as Techno, Trip Hop, Dance, World, Rock, and Alternative.

Glad to be here, looking forward to meeting others as one of the greatest aspects of writing is hearing the story of other people's lives.

message 4837: by Aegelis (new)

Aegelis Thank you Sheri! I was surprised for a social media site that goodreads is kinda quiet. I dig the Robert Frost quotes on your page. Feel free to drop by mine as well, say hi, leave/send a message anytime.

message 4838: by Michael (new)

Michael Finberg Quiet is an understatement.

message 4839: by Aegelis (new)

Aegelis Maybe like the library, it's quiet because everyone is reading. :-D *shhhhh*

message 4840: by Eva (new)

Eva Hello everyone,

I am a German reader who has been lost in the American book market for a long time (Nalini Singh was to blame. It simply took far too long for her books to be translated into German).

Actually, I read almost everything. The only important thing is that I am in the right reading mood. At the moment I prefer books with an HEA. I'm particularly fond of paranormal romance at the moment.
But that can change again at some point (E.g. into thrillers in the gray area, where the perpetrator can get away with it). I also read one or two M/M books, because for me love is love. Regardless of the gender.

I am a writer, but the connecting with readers is daunting. Harder than writing the book! And that took me decades.
The Angels Within is my most recent book. After years of publishers saying they loved it but it didn’t fit in their catalogs I finally did it myself.
Looking for any free advise….thanks for the invite.

message 4846: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Welcome Diana!

message 4847: by Aegelis (new)

Aegelis Hey Diana, I think all of us authors are in the same boat. Posting on sites like this is dangerous because doing so invites a flood of scam e-mails... or that's been my experience so far. Otherwise, we're not allowed to invite readers without being considered rude or getting kicked from social media. If anyone finds differently, I'm interested in learning as well.

message 4848: by Denisse (last edited Nov 30, 2023 05:51AM) (new)

Denisse N.R. Hi my name is Denisse. I love to read and write. I have this weird system when it comes to reading books. I will listen to horror audiobooks and read romance or fantasy books.

I'm writing a horror book. It's more in the gory side, and I'm not sure if people enjoy gore at that level. I was hoping to publish it by the beginning of the coming year, but I got stuck in few chapters, so now I'm not sure when it's going to be done. Probably it doesn't help my beta readers stop reading it since it was too much for them.

message 4849: by Aegelis (last edited Nov 30, 2023 06:12AM) (new)

Aegelis Hello Denisse! Finding our audience is certainly difficult. I'd definitely recommend including the right expectation in your book description when you publish or notice of the intensity. Some people may actually be looking for something bold! Since I'm writing as well, I haven't a lot of time to read hefty books, but feel to message to talk author stuff & will do my best to help.

Keep writing! Even if you don't like the finished product, you can revise until you're happy. Also, just because you've published, doesn't mean you can't make changes and update to a new edition. All the best & blessings be.

Sheri Welcome to the group, Denisse!
