Hi Shelley, and welcome. I'm Addison Carmichael, and I (typically) write Paranormal Romance. Would love for you to try a short story sampling BEAUTY AND HER BEAST, a teaser for my upcoming series in February. Check it out here on GR. Anyhow, welcome to the group. Hope to connect with you!

Mitchell Toews Hi! I'm Mitchell from Canada. Flash, short stories, and a novel on the go. I have a relatively tiny profile (50+ shorts/flash accepted over 3-yrs) online and print in Eng lang lit mags in Ca, UK & Ireland, and USA. Pushcart nom this year. Active on soc med, incl goodreads, P&W, twitter/FB/blog. Getting ready to query a lit fic novel, my first, to publishers in those markets. I have a freelance editor from London.

Q: Is it normal to receive an answer to queries—even when it's just a hard "No!"—or is it common to sometimes receive nothing more than silence? Agents? Publishers? Thanks, danke seea!

Ashad Mukadam Hi everyone.

I'm Ashad Mukadam, and I'm an author and photographer from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I had done a Bachelor of Commerce degree in MIS from the University of Calgary (graduated in 2005), and worked in IT for a little bit, but I didn't like it, especially because I'm not a programmer. I ended up going back to school in 2008 to do a Communications degree from the University of Calgary with the intention of going into journalism. I did try freelancing for a bit, but it didn't work out because of the commitment and hours required. I actually was writing my first book at the same time I was freelancing, and that really made me realize that I enjoyed writing books more. But, the signs were there in every job that I had (including in IT), as I did very little writing, and wasn't allowed to be very creative, and I just missed writing too much to be stuck in jobs where I don't get to do that.

And, in terms of my photography, journalism required me to purchase a DSLR, and I decided to make use of it after I left journalism. I really enjoyed taking photos, and decided to also make a living from that.

Katie Hi there everyone! My name is Katie and I recently went out of my Goodreads-Comfort-Zone and started posting on my very own blog. I just made a post about a holiday gift guide for the thriller-lover in your life and would love it if anyone would like to check it out, or maybe I could get some feedback on my posts!

https://katieonthecase.com

My goal is to become a platform for authors to promote their books, host book tours, and continue reviewing my favorite genres. I want to learn how to promote myself as well as promote authors/publishers, and I also want to learn better photography for my Instagram account. (IG: "katieonthecase" https://www.instagram.com/katieonthec...)

I read mostly thrillers, but the occasional YA fiction or fantasy here and there! I love anything fast paced, creepy, and of course- thrilling!

Nice to meet you, everyone! Excited to connect!

D.L. Fletcher Katie wrote: "Hi there everyone! My name is Katie and I recently went out of my Goodreads-Comfort-Zone and started posting on my very own blog. I just made a post about a holiday gift guide for the thriller-love..."

Hi Katie,

I checked out your site. Great Job! I have no idea how to promote myself let alone help you promote others or yourself. Sorry, no help there. :(

You mentioned photography. Not sure if you mean somewhere to find photos. If you are looking for photos that are copyright free you can check out this link
https://launchparty.org/stock-photos-...

If I could offer one suggestion as the page is long. Maybe make the November reviews another page...? Maybe a page within your site titled reviewers past picks or favorites. I don't know. Maybe it isn't needed at all. I just found the one page rather long. I will say however, your reviews were very interesting to read. I actually read them all. I usually skim or get bored. Kudos to you!

Anyway, great to meet you!

Awesome! If you like it, let me know if you'd be interested in an ARC for SONS OF THE ALPHA--KNIGHT. Can use all the number of reviews I can get for launch in February. Trying to launch this series off right.

Kit James Hi Tana and friends,
My name is Kit James, a British-born Australian, so we Aussies speak and write funny. I'm a Goodreads author and reader, recently joined and also recently self-published - so still finding my way. Since August 2018 I've published five books on Amazon. I've had a couple of reviews, but hoping to get more. My genre is fiction comedy/satire. I love to read Carl Hiaasen, Martin Amis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Gore Vidal, Spencer Quinn. As for my own writing, "Dogs and Rock'n Roll - What more d'ya want" is kind of my motto.

Anne Hi, my name is Anne. I'm a book blogger and I just restarted my blog after being absent for some time due to A-levels and starting university. I made it one of my goals for 2019 to get back into the bookish community.
And I actually already did achieve the first step towards this goal yesterday by publishing my first post – my 2019 reading resolutions.

I joined this group to get in touch with more people so feel free to contact me via my blog or here (:

This is the link to my new post:

Paul Kett Hi Everyone!

Completely new here. My name is Paul. I'm also completely new to self publishing and figuring stuff out on my own as best as I can. It's been an overwhelming, uphill climb and I'm sure I've made many mistakes.

So I'm here to learn and ask for your patience as well as any help and/or advice you can offer

Having said that, I've just started my blog here and would encourage you to check it and let me know what think!

Thanks so much!

Paul Kett Hi Everyone!

I may have just posted this to the wrong place!

My name is Paul.

I'm new here and new to self publishing; it's been overwhelming and confusing to say the least.

So I'm just asking for you patience and/or advice you may have to offer.

In the meantime, I've also just started a blog here and encourage you to check it out and let me know what you think!

Thanks!

Tana no your good Paul, but welcome to the group again.

message 3188: by Elaine (new)

Elaine Jemmett Hi, I'm Elaine, from Ontario, Canada. This is my first Goodreads group.

I'm a reader with many interests, so I guess it's not surprising that my writing is mainly cross-genre. I know zilch about social media, so my first novel came into the world in 2017 and has remained pretty much unnoticed while I've been writing its sequel and learning website building, Photoshop, etc., etc. I published a short story in 2018 and hope to bring out the second novel in my series within a few months.

I'm very interested in all the resources this group has to offer and thank everyone in advance for all the time and energy they put into making the group such a success.

All the best to all,
Elaine

message 3189: by J. (new)

J. Welcome, Elaine. Good luck with your second novel. Keep at it and people will find you.

message 3190: by Marra (new)

Marra Roscoe Hi Elaine,

Sounds like we are about in the same spot, :D First book out with little notice, working on second, know zilch about social media. Learning is sort of fun tho, right?

Rita Chapman Welcome Elaine, Paul and Marra. You'll find lots of tips and information on Goodreads.

I interview a different author on my website each week. If you are interested in being interviewed you can contact me through the website www.ritaleechapman.com

Marketing is painful and every little bit helps!

D.L. Fletcher Welcome Elaine, Paul and Marra! :)

message 3193: by D.L. (new)

D.L. Fletcher There have been mixed opinions on this, but I am blogging my book The Dying Butterfly. Some authors say not to do it, while others say it is a good idea. Since I am a nobody in this field I figure I have nothing to lose. :) So if you're interested it will be going up one chapter at a time.

Paul Kett Hi KL! I'm Paul; I'm new to self publishing. I write fantasy and adventure stories and I've just publish my 1st book, Perceptions, A Dark Fairy Tale and just this morning finished my 2nd ever blog entry here on Goodreads.

Yes, I really am that new to this!

Welcome!

message 3198: by Anthony (new)

Anthony Rogers Hello. My name it Tony Rogers, but my pen name is Pernell Rogers, and I'm fairly new to self-publishing. I published 8 stories so far, all dealing with supernatural horror. It's the genre I enjoy the most. My latest story 'An Unexpected Evil' is the first supernatural thriller I've tried.

Currently, I'm reviewing the last story of a 5-story anthology at the moment. After the review, I'll send it to my editors and then review all of them once again. Hopefully, it will be published before June.

I'm also working on my first supernatural novel. I never thought I'd come up with a story idea that would create a novel. Reviewing it after the first draft is going to be a bear!

A couple of my short stories have been published at Shortfictionbreak.com and I've had a couple of drabbles published at Horrortree.com.

message 3199: by Paul (new)

Paul Kett Hi Tony!

I'm also new to self publishing. I'm currently trying find ways to promote my first book, Perceptions, A Dark Fairy Tale, trying to work on the sequel, and trying to figure out how this all works; as well as job, bills blah, blah, blah. You know, the usual stuff . . .

Welcome!

Pen Griffey Hi all,

I like to write mini reactions to books I read, often times connecting the books to TV shows, movies, or podcasts. My blog is called Stories From the Red Line because of the time spent writing on the DC Metro. I'd love to hear any feedback!
