Charles Ameringer Hi, I'm Charles Ameringer, a retired professor of Latin American History at Penn State University. After a career of writing academic works, I decided to apply my research and travel and spice it up with a bit of imagination in writing historical novels. The latest effort takes place appropriately in Venezuela in the 1920s. I've had nice feedback so far. The Sons of Hernan Garcia The Sons of Hernan Garcia by Charles Ameringer

Helena Kristina My name is Helena and I'm from Wyoming. My favorite books to read are books about anything dark, paranormal, etc. as well as books about mental health and real-world issues, however, I will read a lot of different things in a lot of different genres, those are just my favorites and the ones that I feel I tend to like and read the most. Poetry is something that I like to write.

message 2772: by Paul (new)

Paul Skertich Hi, I'm Paul. I love writing horror and scaring people. I grew up from Oak Lawn, IL. My house was haunted due to a family murder in 1966. I suppose that's where my creativity deprives from. My novel, "The House On Elm" especially. Which is currently going through a revised version. I live in Connecticut in a non-haunted house. :) If I'm not writing, I'm reading, playing video games, watching movies, or perfecting my grammar. I'm glad I was able to introduce myself to every amazing person in here.

message 2790: by Darren (new)

Darren Jorgensen Hi,

My name is Darren Jorgensen and I am rather new to Goodreads. Actually, I am terrible at keeping up with all social computing. I find myself drawn more to talking to my Black Lab and my English Setter than I like "talking to" strangers on the other ends of my fingers. Rather, if I am going to use my fingers to talk, then I would rather the conversation be completely one way -- so I write books instead! My first publisher published novel (mind you, a small press) is actually due out on 22 May 2018. I suppose i should mention it somewhere on this site but to do that i would have to figure out where to do it properly. Dont worry. This isnt a call for help; I will figure it out. But just wanted to introduce myself. Keep an eye out for wherever it is i am supposed to talk about my new thriller and read what i have to say. Who knows? You might even want to read it...

message 2793: by M. (new)

M. Pickard Hi all! My name is Megan Pickard, but I write under the devious moniker of M. Pickard. I joined this group a while back and have been lurking quite some time. The same could be said for my experience with Goodreads as a whole, actually...

My first book was published by a small press ten years ago. The publisher went under just a couple months after my book came out, swallowed by another, equally challenged, company. My book ended up falling through the cracks for the term of the contract. The whole experience was so frustrating that I didn't begin writing again until late 2016.

I decided with this book that I'd rather try publishing independently, and so my recent novel went live on Amazon in February. Despite my complete ignorance of marketing and networking, I'm still happy.

I'm hoping that this group is a good way to begin connecting with other authors so we can support and help one another. I'd also love a way to connect with readers - the hardest thing for me has been trying to figure out how to reach a healthy readership. I don't much enjoy social media, but I do try to maintain my blog.

Anyway, that's it! I look forward to interacting with you all!

message 2794: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Welcome Megan, glad you decided to introduce yourself!

message 2795: by David (new)

David Patneaude Hi all,
I'm Dave (David on my book covers), and I write YA and middle grade fiction. I've bounced around a bit within the larger MG & YA genres, writing contemporary realistic mystery/suspense/adventure, historical, and speculative. I've had nine novels and two collections of short stories published so far, with my twelfth book coming out on June 1. I'm looking forward to getting a review or two (once I figure out how to do that), and seeing what readers have to say about other books that are out there now or on their way.

message 2798: by T.J. (new)

T.J. Mines Hello good members of the Making Connections Group!

I'm T.J. I live in the Netherlands (just north of Amsterdam) and am writing a post-apocalypse series set in Europe.
I currently have three books out: Biography of the Dead, Du Bois, and Siege.

I love stories, and have had stories in my head all of my life. But, I never saw writing as a viable option to sustain myself. So I worked in online marketing for about 14 years.
Last October, I decided I was done with my split focus and started my new career as full-time writer.
I am (sort of) married and have two cats. My other passions lie in Lego's, video games (Factorio for the win!), and other nerd-y stuff.

I'm looking forward connecting to you all here!
Cheers,
T.J.
