Hi Michelle,
As an author, GR is a great place to find reviewers (authors, correct me if I'm wrong here!). Many authors give out copies of their books in exchange for a review. There are many groups who help promote that by running programs such as ARR here in this group.
As far as the GR giveaways, I believe I had read it is GR policy that reviews cannot be required for giveaways (however, I can't find where that is written right now). Thus, they differentiate between a "giveaway" and providing your book to reviewers for the purpose of obtaining a review. Does that help?

Ok, so does that mean if I find reviewers who want to review my book, that is ok as long as they say "I was given this book to review" or something similar and that I should not assume to get reviews from giveaways? I'm asking because on another group, there has been complaints about giving books away but not getting any benefit from it (for the author). I just want to make the most of my time, marketing, etc.
I appreciate any help with this, thanks!

That's the way I understand it. It would be nice if the giveaway winners did leave reviews, but I don't believe you can make that a requirement for winning.

I'm new in blog writing.
My blog: http://butterflymentions.blogspot.com/.
I write mostly about books. Besides that, I love BBC Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes and animals.
I'm happy to found this group. Here are so many amazing and kind people.
Kind regards,
Butterfly

My steampunk noir novel The Jacq of Spades comes out Dec. 1st! So I'm excited. It's getting a cover and proofreading done right now and I'm in the marketing process.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Thank you, Tana, and thanks for all you do!

I'm currently reviewing books for a book challenge and like to blog about book related topics!

Vietnam war fiction, short stories and memoir. I'd enjoy comments in these categories and any successful marketing tips that fellow authors in these categories have tried.

I am a voracious reader, now turned writer :-)
My first book (Murder in-absentia) is now out. It's a bit of a genre mash-up of Historical Mystery, Fantasy and Ancient Rome - like the tag line says, it's a story of togas, daggers, and magic.
It's the story I always wanted to read, so I ended up writing it :)
I will be posting more soon, both for review requests and for upcoming promos. In the meantime, I'm keen to meet anyone with similar interests.
Cheers!

I help run a blog called Game & Read, where we pair books with video games and discuss! Our most recent pairing was The Magicians by Lev Grossman and the game Psychonauts. We post videos about what we are reading, playing, and how it all fits together.
I am looking forward to learning about new books and new authors!

The first official book blog review of DOBORO will give you a good idea of what I'm accomplishing with my writing. It can be found here: http://christianfictionreviewguru.blo...
And my author's spotlight at Lulu here: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/kevinmk...
My brand new spiffy website is here: http://kevinmkraft.wix.com/official-k...
And I have both an author page and personal profile on Facebook. Just do a search for "Kevin M. Kraft" to find me. I'm brand new at this "branding" thing, by the way, but I find it necessary to advance my writing career, which I plan to be how I make my living inside of three years.
I'm better at answering specific questions about myself than just offering an unsolicited bio, so feel free to ask anything.
Looking forward to becoming acquainted with you all.
I do have a question as to whether reviews are allowed or not on GR by others. In some threads it seems we are not, but isn't that the point of giveaways? I'm confused as to the rules concerning reviews and want to know what they are. There seems to be conflicting views on this and so many threads/groups I am overwhelmed. Can anyone set me straight?
