I attended Holy Cross College and the University of Ceylon in Sri Lanka. I am also a Chartered Accountant.
As a Chartered Accountant, I worked extensively in Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
In Zimbabwe I also turned Horticulturist and grew roses, for export to Europe, in a metal, plastic-covered greenhouse of extent one full hectare!
I was also a Lawn Bowls player and took part in Zimbabwe National Bowls Tournaments
I am now an author and have written four books. My first book, “Sri Lankan and Zimbabwean Memories”, is a collection of autobiographical reminiscences. My second book, “Hernando Villa: A Sri Lankan Love Story”, is a novel. My third book, “Turmoil at the Villa” is the sequel to “Hernando Villa” and my fourth book, "Unsuitable Boys!", is also a romantic adventure novel with a Sri Lankan background. https://www.amazon.com/author/terrenc...

Hi OldMarriedMan, and welcome! I have a self-help book for you if you're at all interested, it's a little different than what you have mentioned but close I think. Message me if you would like a PDF copy.

My name is Barry and I recently released my debut Indifference and am trying to make connections on GR. This book is transgressive fiction under satire and dark humor on Amazon, and it is an 18+ read. Please read the blurb (and the warning on Amazon) if you decide to take a look.
I read almost everything, especially while I am waiting for my favorite authors to come out with another book. First choices to read are generally transgressive fiction and horror, but I have tried most genres. I am getting ready to start on my second work, finishing up the plotting part now and since my first is still newish, I wanted to see if I can meet some people and possibly try your ARR section. Nice to meet everyone, hope to make some friends and some connections with other authors and readers on here.
Thank you.

I'm an Australian author and I live in the beautiful south-eastern corner of Queensland. I write books that have a central theme of 'making the world a better place'. I'm interested in far too many things... but my list of passions would include writing, music, poetry, and philosophy.
I'm looking forward to connecting with other readers and writers.

I'm Pam, and I love to read many different types of fiction. I write romantic suspense and have also written a historical fiction novella. There's a t least a little genealogy in everything I write.
I live in Texas.

I live by the sea in my native Nova Scotia but have spent a few years living on the prairies. I write fiction and I started with romance novels. But I also like to write stories based on any and all possible human experiences. I'm also interested in stage and screen plays. It's a joy to see how others interpret what I have written. I would love to chat with others about writing and life experiences.

I'm Dave Wolf. I am debut author, having had my first book published, a crime fiction novel, in October 2016. It took me long enough, since I'm 67, but I have always loved to write. Since retiring, I have more time to devote to it. I am retired federal agent. My beautiful wife & I have been married for 33 years. We have 2 adult children and an adorable grandson. We reside in Southern Illinois with our adopted dog & 4 cats.
My favorite genre is, as you might suspect, crime fiction. I also enjoy history, biography & a good thriller, but I like any good interesting story.
I look forward to being in the group. I'm sure I will enjoy the conversation.

When I'm not working on marketing or my next book, I attend classes for my M.A.A. in Technical Communication. I am eager to be a freelance writer and provide services for non-profit organizations and small businesses in my community. I also love anime, cooking shows, comicon, and attending the KC Renaissance Festival with my hubby.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

My name is Damien Black and I'm mainly a fan of fantasy and historical fiction these days, though I studied English literature at university so I'm quite widely read.
I also read a lot of history and this too has informed my writing.
I'll talk about my book in the appropriate place but for now I'll just say that dark/epic fantasy is my kind of thing when it comes to writing.... Think George RR Martin meets HP Lovecraft with a bit of Tolkien thrown in for good measure and you're there or thereabouts!
I would list my favourite authors but that would be a long message in itself!
I'm based in London.
Bye for now!

Currently I have four series started. My 'Jerry' series starts with 'Betwixt and Between' in which our hero is killed in a car accident and finds himself in the Mid-world, a fantasy world populated with elves, dwarves, fairies, trolls and an assortment of villains. Making friends, thwarting the dark, and finding his way to the next world is what this series is all about. Second comes my 'Buck Slade' series. This is a combination of urban fantasy, detective and humour more or less bundled into one. In the first book, 'Life is a Longshot' Buck is asked to locate the missing brother of his client - a brother who appears to have been abducted by aliens. Third is a 'Greg' series. The first book is 'Once Upon a Summer Long Ago' and might appeal to an older reader who enjoys nostalgia. It is about four friends coming of age in the 1960s who despite the lack of cell phones, tablets, and even computers still somehow manage to have fun and grow close to one another. Lastly is my 'Dark Lord Rising' series that starts with 'Photon of Hope'. Through the conflict between the Guardians and the forces of Stasis, the tapestry of human history unravels - sometimes shifting in one direction and sometimes in another. Someone who enjoys epic fantasy set in the existing world might enjoy these books.
When I'm not writing I can be found fishing, gardening or puttering about in the kitchen. I make a mean rum cake.

I love lots of genres but fantasy is my absolute favorite. I think that is why I love Marissa Meyers writing so much :P
I just finished reading Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and have written/submitted my review. Now it's time to pick my next read.

As a kid I had no interest in Shakespeare or Salinger. A couple novels influenced me as a young adult, with profound consequences including prison. It was there I began to write, having little else to do. That was 40 years ago.
Since then I've written about a half million words, some of which I still like, although it seemed like a stern price to pay for my latest and certainly best work. That said, I can't touch the hem of Fitzgerald's skirt. I came to accept that literature is a pyramid and I'm somewhere near the bottom, jostling with Chandler and Hammett to reach higher.

Hi everyone :)

Irish guy here who just published a short story on Christmas Eve. I've been reading and writing (or trying to) for as long as I can remember and after another crack at Nanowrimo, I wrote this short story in a day, redrafted it a week later and thought what the heck! Just self-publish something and see how this all works already. So here I am. With every passing day I feel more and more ready to tell the world my little story is available.
I like reading Stephen King (I'm really scared about how the Dark Tower film/s will turn out) and classics and the usual stuff, I think. Always wish I could read more.
Not very good at talking about myself, hence the lack of an author bio on here and Amazon.
Looking forward to exploring this group! I'm obviously going to ask for reviews in the appropriate section but I hope to look around and check out the other areas too. :)

I like personal development and self help books, especially when it comes to intimacy and relationships. I'm currently reading "Wired to Connect" by Dr. Amy Banks, and I just finished other books like Boundaries, Running on Empty, The 5 Love Languages, Sex for One and others.
I rarely read novels and fiction, but when I do, I'm into spy thrillers, detective stories and mystery novels. Like I read the full Jack Reacher series and loved it.
I just love to read books and compare notes. So where should I go to find like minded book worms? An inquiring mind wants to know.
