Eva John You're still in college? Boy, it may be tough to get writers to trust you with their books. Unfortunately, people in their early 30s and younger generally don't have the value of life experience to give a well-rounded, comprehensive review. That's not to say you won't down the line. Good luck to you in any case.

S.R. Akulick Hi, I'm S.R. (But you can call me Scy!) I just published my first book "Sendrask" and I love to write YA Fantasy - with as much wit and humor as the story allows.

Stefania Maggi Hello everyone!

I am Stefania, born and raised in Italy and now living in Canada.

I published my first YA sci-fi novel as an Indi titled The Layers.

You can find info about my self and The Layers at this link: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

I am now working on the second volume of The Layers, a few short stories and novellas in the sci-fi and creative non-fiction genres.

I would love to connect with other authors and have opportunities to continue growing as an author.

Stephen Thompson Hi everybody. My name's Steve

I'm an old, wizened reader, but a new, shiny author.

Just thought I'd introduce myself to the group. I read more for education and professional development these days, but used to read a LOT of fiction. I'm semi retired, but write CVs (resumes) and create other career development tools to keep the wolves from the door now.

However, I've always wanted to write more substantial "stuff", so I recently self published a Kindle book "Interview Success Made Simple" through KDP Select. It was developed from a PDF e-book I wrote years ago; it seemed the easiest way to get myself moving as an author.

I'm in the process of developing a series in the "Success Made Simple" line, and the next one "Resume Writing Success Made Simple – Secrets the Pro's Don't Want You to Know" should be out next week.

I had considered launching that on KDP Select for the five day free promotion as I did with Interview, but having read some books recently by Joanna Penn, Steve Scott and Johnny Truant think it may be more sensible to create a "lead magnet" for this purpose? Interview got to No 1 in one of the categories just after the five days free. Sales since have been very small, but this was to be expected.

I'm very new to this, so would appreciate any advice and wisdom from you guys.

And if anyone would be so kind as to review 'Interview', I'd be grateful. I spent a couple of weeks 'warming up' my Facebook and LinkedIn contacts prior to launch, but the reviews they wrote have not showed up on my profile. I did not realise that Amazon would 'kill' any reviews that could be perceived as 'solicited'....

There – introduced. Have a fantastic day, people. I look forward to "meeting" and bantering with you in the months to come.

message 1213: by Jayme (new)

Jayme Blaschke Howdy folks! I'm Jayme Lynn Blaschke by way of introductions, and I'm a recovering journalist and professionally published author of fiction and non-fiction since 1997. My primary interest has been in genre--science fiction and fantasy--but my newest and most ambitious work is a narrative non-fiction history Inside the Texas Chicken Ranch: The Definitive Account of the Best Little Whorehouse, coming August 1.

Yeah, that's a pretty odd detour for someone with my background, but my publisher is excited about it and people seem enthusiastic. Believe it or not, "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" was not actually a documentary. Go figure!

Inside the Texas Chicken Ranch The Definitive Account of the Best Little Whorehouse by Jayme Lynn Blaschke In any event, I'm happy to discuss the Chicken Ranch, genre or pretty much anything else with anyone who has an interest in doing so.

message 1217: by S.L. (new)

S.L. I have a questions and i wasn't sure where to post it. I am looking to add 3 short 3-4 line reviews inside my book. I am publishing the second book in my series in a week and i was wondering if there is a spot i can post this and get a few people to take this on. the books are novella size and only 30 k words. Can you guild me. I will provide book 1 as well so that they know the story line as long as they don't mind posting a review ONLINE for book 1 as it is already released.

message 1218: by Tana (new)

Tana S.L you have a couple of options, 1 - can sign up for the ARR Program and we can list your books in our group.

2. You could put write up a post under reviews or book promotions asking for some reviews.

Hope that helps

Greg Rigby Hi,

My name is Greg and I'm the author of two books, "The God Secret" and "The Jesus Phenomenon" that will be promoted soon on Goodreads with two giveaways.

I'd like to know if any of you would be interested in reading and reviewing one of my books before the start of the giveaway.

Don't hesitate to contact me for more information.

Thanks,

Terry Kaye Hi everyone! My name is Terry Kaye, I am happy to be a part of this group! Looks like a genuine, supportive and fun group of people.

I have been on Goodreads for a while but just became part of the author program with my first book "Dog Only Knows." It's a humor book written in the voice of my dog Belle, and I had the best time putting her distinctive voice into people-speak.

I love reading all kinds of books, but especially mysteries, fantasy, and funny books. Big Harry Potter fan, also love Janet Evanovich (laugh out loud funny) and Michael Connelly.

Wanted to share with the group that I am doing my first Goodreads Giveaway (hope it's okay to post that here - everyone likes free books right?) - so if you love dogs and could use a good laugh feel free to enter at http://bit.ly/dokgiveaway.

Great to meet you! Looking forward to getting to know you better.

:-)

Robert D. Calkins Hi everybody-

I'm Robert Calkins and am totally new to Goodreads and this group. I'm a rookie author writing fiction about my passion- K9 Search and Rescue. Two children's books and a teen/adult murder mystery, all about the same fictional dog and hander. (Age appropriate stuff tho, nobody dies in the children's books for gosh sakes.)

I already scrolled down to see Terry has written Dog Only Knows so that's going my To Read list. Sounds like this is a decent group for both book AND dog lovers. I'm liking it already.

message 1227: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Amiss Hi Robert! Welcome! That's awesome that you're using the topic of K9 and rescue dogs for children's books. I work with kids and that is definitely something I could see being read at my day care. And I love dogs too of course haha. I love to write as well. :)

message 1228: by Robert (new)

Robert D. Calkins HI Rebecca- Thanks for the kind welcome. I'm new to Goodreads and want to follow the rules and the "friendly norms." Now that you've indicated my children's book might have value to you, what is the best way to share title information without looking like a shameless spammer?

message 1229: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Amiss Haha I think there might be a folder somewhere on this group where you can share your work. If not, you can definitely mention it in posts. I'm sure others would be interested in learning about your books too. :)

message 1230: by Robert (new)

Robert D. Calkins OK. Sierra Becomes a Search Dog and Sierra the Search Dog Finds Fred are the kids books. Intended to be read to preschoolers. Perfect for your application.

Digger is the teen/adult murder mystery. A story of sweet dogs and serial killers.

message 1231: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Amiss Thanks Robert! I'll be sure to check them out

Vicky Hi Everyone. I'm Vicky I just joined the group. I hope I am posting in the right place. I'm a children's book and self-help author and love writing but new to the publishing biz so a little shakey there.

I love to read. I was the kid in school with the trashy novel propped up behind the Math book. My favorites now are YA fantasy and adventure, cook books, DIY, natural healing, spiritual/inspirational, and kid's books.

I'm really looking forward to connecting with other authors and readers.

And, of course, I love to read. I was the kid in school with the trashy novel propped up behind the Math book. My favorites now are YA fantasy and adventure, Terry Pratchett, cook books, DIY, natural healing, spiritual/inspirational, biographies and kid's books.

Before I began writing I had much more time for reading. Some of my other favorites were Diana Gabaldon, Terry Brooks, Anne McCaffery, Marion Zimmer Bradley.....

One of the best 'jobs' I've ever had was to own a small book store and coffee shop. We have since moved on to other projects but just to be surrounded by books makes me happy. :)

I'm really looking forward to connecting with other authors and readers.

Michael Smorenburg Morning from the tip of Africa on a beautiful winter's morning here.
I'm a semi-retired entrepreneur with a passion for writing.
Twenty years ago I sold 3 x "How to's" to US publishers.

I'm a science communicator (*not* science fiction, but cutting edge science) and particularly interested interested in the implications they have for society and the backlash from culture and religion.
I explore these points of friction through fiction, and weave them into human dramas and thrillers.
> I've just sold movie rights for my A Trojan Affair (#skaNOVEL).
> I'm about to launch LifeGames Corporation.
>> I'm wondering how I can get these novels considered for review/blog/interview, etc.

> Breaking that mold, 2 days ago I started my first novella, tentatively called "The Praying Nun", a story about the (real life) discovery of the first and only slave shipwreck, São José, ever to be found in the world... and a love story.

Steve Hanson I'm Steve. I'm a resurrected writer. A number of years ago I had three books published for a sectarian market. Now that I'm "older" and have more time, I am writing suspense/thrillers for the general market. My first offering (goes published on Amazon Kindle August 1) is SEALED UP. Glad to be on board.
