Danielle LeBlanc Hi all, my name is Danielle and I'm currently living in British Columbia (but a bit of a Winnipeger at heart). I read and write historical romance and allergy-free cookbooks, and I post recipes, etc at http://poorandglutenfree.blogspot.ca/ I also love reading the classics, as well as history, and I have an inexplicable thing for pre-Soviet Russian lit...

The third novel in my Ancient Egyptian Romances series, The Draughtsman's Daughter, is currently available for pre-order, and I'm running a Goodreads giveaway for it starting June 11, so of course I'm looking for reviewers ;)

Like others here, I'm also interested in hearing how authors navigate the Canadian indie market, and connecting with other readers and authors.

Melanie Bennett Hello everyone. My name is Melanie Bennett. I live in Ontario, Canada. I am a new author with my first book release on Kobo and Amazon. I am learning with great struggles how to market my ebook and hope to get back to writing soon for my second bok in the series. I have been trying to navigate through goodreads, with so many groups and trying to figure out how the threads run. When I open a thread, it could be from a year ago, two years ago. Anyway I can never find the most recent comment, I guess I will learn. :) . I hope to meet lots of readers and authors and I am amazed how many people and books are on this site!!

message 1120: by Su-Ny' (new)

Su-Ny' Kluckow Hi everyone.

My name is Su-Ny' or Sue as I'm better known as.

Previously-broke, reformed-serial-dieter & conception-obsessed wife and mother, saved by God's amazing grace

I'm a first time self published Author of a Christian Self Help book on obesity, food addiction and self image issues.

I'm probably also the world most technology challenged person out there. I have no idea how this group or this site works but Im hoping there is some kind people out there that will teach me along the way.

I really enjoy reading - which I unfortunealty dont do enough of since I have a 22 month and a 6 week old boys which keeps me rediculously busy.

I write because writing helps me answer the questions I have. It helps me think through problems and answers. But mostly I write because to not write would be as bad as not breathing. I breath therefore I write. Would I write if no one would ever read it? I look at writing as a form or worship, a time to be intimate with God. When I am writing He is inspiring me, prompting me to engage Him on a level that sometimes is deeper than prayer or the words that I might speak otherwise. I feel close to Him when I hear my keyboard chatter with anticipation, each key stroke inviting Him to bless my thoughts and interact with my soul. Writing is a way that I bless others, with words of encouragement and love via, E-mail, text or physical letter and of course books. If I was the last person on the planet...you could find me at any coffee shop banging away at my laptop; provided being the last person on the planet there was electricity, or coffee shops...wait who would make my coffee?

I hope to get to befriend some of you however Im not sure how to do that at this stage.

Have a beautifully blessed day. Where I am - well, its raining in Africa!

Kate Everward Hi everyone,
My name is Kate Anne Everward. I'm the proud sister of a debut author. Her name is A. Claire Everward. We are a sister team, she's the author, I'm both her publisher and publicist. It's all very new and exciting.
Her book is already on Amazon and it's called THE FIRST The First by A. Claire Everward .
We have one review so we still have a lot of work to do, but it's a 5 star review so it's a good start right?
We also built a website called www.authorandsister.net (surprising name ha?) where we will share who we are and things we are going through, because there's so much to do as an Indie author! It's a big world out there and we love meeting new people.

So nice to meet you all and we hope we'll contribute to this huge group :)

message 1131: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Warren Hi, I'm Barbara and have just published my first novel, Everlasting Lies and am now doing everything I can to market it.
I was educated in a convent in England, married my boyfriend from grade eight or nine, emigrated to Canada when we were 22 and now live in the summer in southern Alberta and the rest of the year in Puerto Vallarta. Doesn't get any better than that!
I always have a book on the go and read Wade Davis, Joy Fielding, Penny Vincenzi...pretty much anything.
I'm looking forward to learning from this great group and hope to contribute to it too.

London Rae Hello all! My name is London Rae and I'm one of those crazy indie authors. I write Romance and my first series "The Cheating Wives Club" has 3 of the 4 books out so far. It's been a huge learning experience and I must say the greatest experience of my life. Having a complete stranger tell you that they loved what you wrote is a euphoric feeling which I've never thought possible.

I'm an avid reader as well as writer. My favorite genres are romance (of course) historical fiction, history, and whatever else catches my eye at the time.

I'm also a mom, wife, and friend to as many people as I can be and hope to meet more great people here on Good Reads! Thank you so much for having me.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Beulah Burke and I am a Goodreads Author.

I am the author of Till Death Do Us Part. You can view it on

message 1141: by Warren (new)

Warren Dean I tried to get into the International Fleet's Battle School, but they took some guy named Wiggin instead.

I was accepted at Hogwarts, but I couldn't find Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.

I applied to Unseen University of Ankh-Morpork, but all they would offer me was a degree in optometry.

I wasn't able to force my way into the Jedi Academy.

So I stayed at home and started writing books.

message 1142: by Johnny (new)

Johnny Holiday Hi, I'm John. I'm helping my lovely wife, Barbara, in the marketing of her new book.
I always have a couple of books that I'm reading and they are usually on the non-fiction side of the ledger. At the moment they happen to be Dark Money and Gideon's Spies, neither of which are designed to improve my opinion of the human race!
Looking forward to learning and contributing.

John

message 1144: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Smith Hello! My name is Kimberly Jo Smith and I write historical fiction/romance. I also write poetry and folk/Appalachian style music that I perform with my son. I also love to travel and do photography. My favorite genres of books to read are historical fiction, romance, mystery, young adult, and fantasy.
I have loved reading since I glimpsed my first book as a child. It was fascinating to me that there was always a place to escape to within the pages of a really good book. But reading was not enough, I had stories of my own that congregated in my head on a daily basis!

I am so excited that my book series, American Dream: Shadows of the Ancient Wood is now out on Kindle! I am also excited to have become a part of Goodreads because of their efforts to get all books in print on their site and their support of new emerging authors. It's nice to have a place where writers can put their books, yet also support fellow writers in their works.

message 1145: by Kelley (new)

Kelley Hello group! Thank you for making me a part of this. I an a retired English teacher and author of the Chalkboard Outlines cozy mystery series. Of which only one is published--#1 Death by Diploma. I'm working on #2 as we speak! I came from Colorado but I live in Southern California.

message 1146: by Doug (new)

Doug Oudin Hi,
I'm Doug Oudin, a retired harbormaster from Catalina. After spending thirty-two years of my life living in the remote village of Two Harbors, Catalina Island, I moved to Grants Pass, Oregon and began writing books about life at sea. My memoir ('Between Two Harbors, Reflections of a Catalina Island Harbormaster') was my first book published, and 'Five Weeks to Jamaica, a seafaring novel came next.
After writing a weekly column in the Catalina Islander Newspaper for more than twenty years, I felt the urge to fulfill my longtime dream of writing books. It's different, I soon discovered, but I am very pleased with the results, and the response my work has generated. Not sure what's next, but like most writers, there's always something churning through my creative processes.

message 1148: by Josephine (new)

Josephine Hi!

My name is Josephine and I'm a book-blogger and Instagrammer (www.instagram.com/books_boegerpaastribe) from Copenhagen in Denmark. So as you might have guest: I love to read. I love to read all kinds of books - but as a MA. in literature I really love the classics :)

I'm looking forward to be in this group.

message 1149: by Julie (new)

Julie Simons Hi everyone!

My name is Julie Simons. I'm a new Indie author. My debut novel is Angel of Night--a YA paranormal thriller/romance. I'm a California transplant living in New England, Writer's Corner of the world, it seems. I read and write young adult fiction. Meaningful relationships are a must for me and are what drove me to write. I decided that instead of re-writing other author's books in my head when I found that the relationship progression disappointed me, that maybe I should write something of my own written just the way I like it. But then....that leaves me open to critics' perspectives too! Full circle!
