Thaddeus White Hey, everyone.

I'm Thaddeus White. I write fantasy (and sometimes other stuff), and mostly read fantasy and classical/medieval history.

My new book, fantasy-comedy The Adventures of Sir Edric, comes out on 31 March, so I'll probably bang on about that a bit (in the right places, of course :p ).

Bianca Gubalke Hello everybody, my name is Bianca Gubalke. I’m a ‘hybrid author’ and happy to join the Goodreads Community.

I live in Noordhoek, South Africa, a tiny village in the so-called “richest floral kingdom in the world”. This breathtaking landscape, its devastating fires, and some amazing true human-animal bonds are eternalized in my new magical realism novel - The Immortal Life of Piu Piu.

I’m looking forward to finding like-minded people with a passion for life and its magic wrapped in mesmerizing words!

message 823: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Tiller Hi everyone,
My name’s Chris and I’m new to Goodreads. Last week I joined as an author and put my novel up, Running Through Still Waters, after recently placing it on Amazon, so it’s early days all round.
I’m still trying to find my way here and not sure how I link up with friends. There’s a ‘follow the author’ button but no ‘friend button’ and when I try the messaging someone I get this error - User not found – in a red box. I’ve tried contacting several of my friends this way but the same message.
I’m sure it’s me, doing something wrong, but if anyone can help and tell me how to add someone as a friend as an author, I’d be very grateful.

Running Through Still Waters

It's a pleasure to meet you, Bianca. When I saw your note about being a "hybrid author" I pictured someone with an electric motor but full of gas, too (which made me giggle....then I had to explain to my youngest kid why I was laughing - he'd never heard of hybrid cars!)

Hi Syl. Nice to meet up with you, as much as that is possible across the distance between Ireland and the West part of Canada, a lovely place I am told.

Nicholas Hochstedler Hey y'all! My name is Nicholas Hochstedler and I am a self-published author. My debut novel, War in October, is available on Amazon in paperback. I love writing contemporary, realist fiction with dark humor, philosophical commentary, and psychological intrigue. My reading tastes, however, are quite different! I enjoy the modern classics — Steinbeck, Ken Kesey, some of the beat writers — but I mainly read comic books and graphic novels. I recently read all of Frank Miller's Sin City and Takashi Okazaki's Afro Samurai 1 & 2, and I am currently reading the first few Deadpool comics. I guess I do want to read a more conventional novel soon — East of Eden by Steinbeck — but mainly because the movie of the same title stars James Dean, and it's his only performance that I have not yet seen. Gotta read the book first!

Bianca Gubalke Hello Brenda!

Now you got me laughing . . . and this while I'm still trying to find my way around on the GR turf, clueless, unfollowed and without an electric paddle! But the way to 'reply to a comment' looked so bizarre that I followed the tracks of a goofy Dane right to the source to thank you for your funny welcome!

But to do so I had to ASK including a ? . . . which made me return. Holding my breath to see the result . . .

Grapes of Wrath is my favorite novel of all time. In my opinion (which of course is limited by my own experience) it's the best American novel ever written.

message 846: by Ellen (new)

Ellen Bard Hi all, and wow, what a rich and diverse group.

I've been on Goodreads since 2012 as a reader, and published my first novel, Blaize and the Maven last year, with book 2 in the same PR/UF series, Tierra and the Warrior to follow this year.

PR/UF is probably my favourite genre to read, but I'm a voracious reader, and also read literary, crime, sci-fi, fantasy, and non-fiction - among others! I'm a psychologist and management consultant by profession, so I read a lot of books relevant to those too.

Oh, and I'm a British 'digital nomad' mainly based in Thailand, though I work and travel (112 flights last year) across SE Asia and the Middle East (I say that, I'm in the States this week!), so travel is also a subject I enjoy reading about.

My favourite authors are Douglas Coupland, Nora Roberts, Robert Heinlein, Laurell K Hamilton, Robert Galbraith, Illona Andrews, Patrick Rothfuss, Anne Bishop, Brandon Sanderson - oh, ok, I have quite a few favourites I realised as I was writing that!

Looking forward to exploring the group!

E.S. Nielsen Hello. I am new to goodreads and haven't quite figured out how to work this site. I am Eva. I recently added one of my stories to amazon, Secrets. I haven't been a very social person the past ten years or so of my life after some recent events in my personal life I figured I better change that if I want to accomplish anything in this lifetime. I am on the fence about Secrets. I think I added this as my first book because i am not attached to it. I don't feel like it's some masterpiece, it actually disgusts me. I even have hints of shame for having written it. I used news stories that stuck with me for inspiration but its more violent then I am comfortable with. I have never written another story like this. I tend to write psychological thrillers and ghost stories that could fall under horror as well. I guess I decided i wasnt ready to let any of my babies spill out onto the market yet but I did tell myself it was time to move forward and do something. So out came Secrets (which wont hurt my feelings if people hate it) and here i am joining things and making an effort to be more social. I even started blogging and answering my phone when people call me. Everyone on goodreads (so far) have been very kind I look forward to having some stimulating conversations ( I don't actually have any readers or writers in my regular circle so writing has always been almost a secret thing I do and discussion over books.... never happened in my daily life over the past ten years.)
