message 755: by Leo (new)

Leo Alexander Hello group! My name is Leo and I'm a self publish junkie! I work for a company that is trying to get the word out about great self-published works. You know, the whole give it to the man. We're just as good sort of company. Anyways, I won't be indirect about my purposes in this and other groups. We are looking for authors, great authors, to add to our online library website that we hope to launch in the next few months. We're hoping that it can help fuel the buzz about the great self published authors that are out there. It's $10 a year to be listed and there you can provide us with links to your book to purchase in whatever format you'd like. We'll also have author bios. The minimal fee is to cover our time and website design and maintenance costs. We're already creating quite a list of authors. Hope some of you will join! Email me at thehoundonlinelibrary@gmail.com

Romance4u Hello Everyone!

Am enjoying this lovely taste of Spring we are having in NYC. As many of you have said writing is something we all enjoy doing however what I don't love are the rejections. Getting your name out there is not easy but it's important to not give up.

message 759: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Richard Hi, my name is Joseph. I've been on Goodreads for a few years but only just starting to join groups like this one. I am a writer (and a reader), self-published two books on Amazon in the zombie genre. I picked that genre because so few books have been written about zombies I figured I'd have the market to myself. Turns out I was spelling zombies incorrectly in my searches. The market is crowded! LOL on me.

I love reading sci-fi, fantasy, horror and erotica. Just kidding about erotica. I think...no, I do like it. Unless my mom reads this, then I don't.

I got 365 rejections before I got my first acceptance letter in 1994. I've been writing full-time ever since. Keep your spirits up!

Hi...
I have no idea if this is the right place to introduce myself. There is not "Introduce yourself" link - so here goes. I hope I'm not offending anyone by my spamish ...
I'm Elliott Alhadeff, living in Sammamish, WA and have published my book "Who Is Clarence McKinsey" which you can learn about at www.whoisclarencemckinsey.com. I'm looking forward to being a party of your group and maybe, you can recommend someplace I can acquire some good objective reviews - just to see if I'm merely chasing rainbows with this passion for writing...
Stay in touch,
Elliott

I hope all your experiences here are wonderful!

Take a few minutes and introduce yourself, or just stop by and say ..."

message 773: by Bard (new)

Bard Groupie HI everyone,
I go by the name Syl and I love this place and the Goodreads android app.
One positive aspect of having a chronic disease is that I have tons of time to read. Most people aren't as lucky as I am regarding that. Also. I use technology quite a lot to help with that reading. It can be difficult for me to hold books much of the time but fortunately many books can be read on a tablet or listened to via audio books.

I love that I can get information about books, read reviews and much more all in one place. Plus the app syncing across all my devices is a major bonus.

On a personal note. I live with three cats. two of which are brother and sister and have six legs between them. The other is a huge Smokey Black Maine coon with paws like pie plates. They are Dory, Tron (Megatron), and last but certainly not least, 25lb Bobby. I also have a tarantula (female) named Duncan. My adult son lives with his wife a stones throw away.

I have travelled quite a lot before becoming ill. I was more of an adventuring wild child. Travelling to another country at a drop of a hat was normal for me. I miss those days but have many wonderful memories. I have also called a number of countries home at various times and enjoyed learning about other cultures on a more personal level.

I was born by the ocean on the east coast of Canada and now live back in Canada but in the middle and one of the most southern parts of the country. I consider myself very fortunate to be Canadian.

I enjoy many different genres of books but I'm especially a sucker for a good fantasy series. Historical fiction is probably a close second. Other than that I will give most books a chance.
Everyone seems very nice here and I really enjoy reading readers reviews.

Spring is in the air finally!!!!

message 777: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Kiernan Hi everyone. My name is Tom and I am a reader and writer and I live in Kilkenny, Ireland. I have some books up on Amazon, but we'll get to that in the future. At the moment I am getting out of my shell a bit. I have a busy lifestyle with one thing and another so that time for writing and reading is in really short supply. However, I try, and hope that my life will free up a bit so that I can get back to the things that I really like doing. It's nice to be able to connect with other book people.

message 782: by Ashley (last edited Mar 13, 2016 11:50AM) (new)

Ashley I'm Ashley, I'm from Boston and I have two blogs. On one blog I do my monthly reading wrap-ups, which consist of my reviews of books that I have read. I love YA fiction, fiction, historical fiction, fantasy and sic-fi books. I do enjoy some contemporaries, and I stay away from romance because I just don't like the genre. Other genres that I stay away from are mystery, suspense, crime and thrillers. I do read some non fiction as well. I also just recently within the past week bought myself a Nook, which I never though I would do and I absolutely love it!! My current favorite author is Romina Russell!!

William Burcher Hi Everyone!

Excellent group here and an incredible source for new authors (i.e. ME). I still feel a little like the new kid sitting awkwardly at the lunchroom table by himself, but groups like this are like that pretty, popular girl who comes over and brings you a little cardboard pint of chocolate milk.

I write Science Fiction "with a soul" — literary scifi (this should be a category unto itself)! I'm very much about an expanded human presence in space, natural economy, and living a positive life.

My first is The GAIAD. It's about a police detective who witnesses a horrific, public act, investigates, and discovers an ancient, protected secret with the potential to change "that most of fundamental of relationships" — the one we have with our own planet.

I also wanted to throw it out there — I'm a former cop with a basketful of experience in law enforcement. If anyone is in need of an informal consultant on a crime work, feel free to message me!

Thanks for reading!

-Will

Ben Hello everybody!

My name is Roan Clay, and I write non-magical fantasy, science fiction, poetry and realistic adventure. My first book, "Arlinga: Concerning a Man" came out just recently!

As far as reading, I enjoy some classic novels and poetry, as well as some Golden Age science fiction and some history. I like nearly all genres, but not everything in any genre - like a lot of others do, I suppose.

See you all later!
