Tana Hello Mohamed welcome to the group!

message 702: by A. (new)

A. Benitez My name is Bill Benitez and I write and read how-to books. Mostly I write about the woodworking and handyman business but I've also written about relationships.

I own and operate a one person publishing company to publish my books and that of other authors, eighteen books to date. I love to read how-to books, mostly about writing, publishing and marketing. When time permits I read adventures and spy thrillers.

My company is Positive Imaging, LLC. Details are at: http://positive-imaging.com . The last two books I published include a fictional family saga, Like I Used to Dance, written by my wife Barbara Frances. You can read about it at: http://likeiusedtodance.com .

The last how-to book I wrote and published was Woodworking Simplified Book 1. You can read about it at: http://woodworkingsimplified.awilliam... .

I'm presently working on Book 2 of the woodworking simplified series for myself, a book about education in a changing world for a mathematics professor and two poetry books for poets.

Looking forward to participating in this group. Thanks.

Bill

message 706: by Ella (new)

Ella Olsen Hi all! I write under the name Ella Joy Olsen, but I read under the name Ella. I love to read and am having great fun on the Goodreads site - nothing so satisfying as a shelf full of your favorite books (even if they're virtual). And adding books to the Want to Read? Almost as good as browsing a brick and mortar book store!

My debut will release on August 30, 2016. It's called ROOT, PETAL, THORN and is historical/women's fiction. Root, Petal, Thorn by Ella Joy Olsen

So I'm pretty excited for that! Glad to be a part of this group and learn and share with you all.

message 707: by Doug (new)

Doug Oudin Hi Ella,
I'm an author now, after working as harbormaster on Catalina Island for 32 years. My two books are on Amazon (E-book and print), and I love to share my experiences and passion for the sea; and all the amazing things that can, and do happen when the center of your life is on the ocean.

message 708: by Ella (new)

Ella Olsen Hi Doug! Nice to meet you! I love to read about the ocean (because I live so far from one).

message 713: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Foster Hi everyone,

My name is Christopher Foster and I'm very happy to be part of this group. Look forward to participate as fully and usefully as I can.

I was born in London and wrote my first story as a child in an old scrapbook during the early days of the Blitz. Was a reporter and weekly newspaper editor before I began writing books.

My latest effort is a short but I hope meaningful book about my experiences after being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2013. Strange though it may sound--and despite inevitable discomfort and fear--cancer has helped me change and grow. I'm a new and happier person, as my dear wife JoAnn will confirm.

I blog at www.thehappyseeker.com. with the tagline, 'Finding joy while facing cancer.' I was honored recently when the American Cancer Society published my story in "Stories of Hope" at www.cancer.org.

Look forward very much to making new friends in this group and would welcome reviews for my book, The Upside of Cancer: How a Terrifying Illness Can Lead You to a New Life.

message 714: by A. (new)

A. Benitez Hi Christopher,

Glad you've joined the group.

message 715: by Tana (new)

Tana Hi Christopher welcome to the group!

message 716: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Foster Thanks Bill. Hey, it looks like you enjoy spy thrillers too. Guys like Daniel Silva and Alan Furst?

message 717: by A. (new)

A. Benitez Christopher, I wish there was more time to read them. I have enjoyed Ken Follett, Steve Berry, and Steig Larrson until his untimely death. As a writer I spend much of my time writing and as a publisher I spend a great deal of time reading to learn.

Even now that I retired from my IT job I'm still busy most of the time. Thank goodness I love my work.

message 718: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Foster I'm with you Bill. If we don't love our work we are doing ourselves such a disservice. I've loved writing all my life, and self-published 3 or 4 books. The strange thing is, it seems as if only now, with the lofty wisdom of 80-plus years, am I really taking marketing seriously.
I find with amazement I'm starting to enjoy it. "Better late than never," as they say. Not a lot of success yet but at least I'm getting down to work. Who else is going to sell my books if I don't? Best wishes.

Catherine Philhower Michael wrote: "Sounds like you're making great progress Lucy - best of luck to you"

It feels very slow, lol - but I'm stubborn about it! I've had a couple of requests for the full from really top-notch agencies, but in the end they rejected. Which of course has caused me to go back and do revisions. Ah, the never-ending process . . .
