Claire’s love of writing began at age six when she wrote her first short story – a total of three lines. Later, in college, she almost failed Math because, instead of algebraic equations, her notes were filled with poetry and book ideas. To this day Claire is never found far from pen and paper – or a calculator.

Claire believes that to tell a story you must listen to one first. Her books and stories are fictional tales based on the emotions and experiences of individuals who have shared their own stories with her. She is passionate about giving a voice to those who are not heard by creating fictional events and then bringing them to life with true human experiences.

I will take a walk, have a snack or work on som…moreWhen I experience writer's block, I try to step away from the project for a while and get re-inspired. I will take a walk, have a snack or work on something that uses my hands. Usually, this allows me to come up with a solution naturally instead of forcing it.

My other technique is to ask myself, "What am I trying to say?" The point of writing is to communicate so often writers block is not an inability to come up with words, but the lack of a clear thought to communicate. I find that if I can focus on defining what thought I am trying to articulate then words flow naturally.

This may seem odd for a fiction writer, but even fiction stories are an expression of an idea or thought. If you can define what story you are trying to tell - what idea you feel has enough value to share with the world - then all that's left is to write it down. (less)
