It's not always about how "literature" a book is. Simply, it's what knowledge and memories others have taken from that book, and why they are personally fond of it.
The first page of this list really shows when this site was used the most and what kinds of people used it; it's like an archeological record, lol
this list is very 2012. if it were made today, it’d be filled with cheesy cartoon cover romance novels and romantasy and other flavor of the month booktok stuff.
crime and punishment being right above the da vinci code is the funniest thing ever.
imagine going up to a literary critic and arguing that The Hunger Games and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are superior works to Crime and Punishment
i digress. it’s just that it’s impossible to take this list seriously. i could at least take it seriously if it were instead titled something like “books that made the biggest impression on teenagers circa 2012”.
some interesting choices here lol..... its quite hard to take it serious as a list of best books of all time when harry potter and the hunger games take 2 of the top 5 spots lmao
the old comments are pretty funny though
