This summer I am really excited about reading the newest novel from Fredrik Backman - "Beartown" and I am very excited about "A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towles. A few others I hope to get through are "The shadow land" by Elizabeth Kostova, "The Aviator's Wife" by Melanie Benjamin, "The Guest Room" by Chris Bohjalian, "The Summer Before the War" by Helen Simonsson, "A Spool of Blue Thread" by Anne Tyler and I'm sure a few others will be added to my list, plus my book club reads, so I should have a very full summer of reading. I hope your summer is full of good books too. (less)

Actor Steve Martin’s character, in the legendary comedy ‘The Jerk’, goes running out to the delivery truck and grabs the latest copy of the white pages, exclaiming “The new phonebooks are here, I’m somebody now”. Seeing your name in print establishes your identity, it give you a special sense of permanence. You are somebody now! But its not just my name, its my ideas, my words on paper ( or on the screen) for someone to read. As an author and blog writer, it is my hope that my words will mean something to other people. I want my thoughts, my ideas to have a lasting impact. They are no longer carefully hidden from my older sisters in my locked diary, they are out in the world for everyone to look at.(less)
