J.R. Vaineo is a self-published indie author. In 2021, she published her third book: The Onyx Prince. When she’s not writing, she and her husband, Jessie, have many adventures together. Mostly in cooking, photography, analytical talks, going for walks in the rain, and fawning over their three adorable fur-babies.

While J.R. Vaineo writes mostly fantasy fiction, she enjoys reading all genres; except, perhaps, for horror stories. She strives to improve her craft of writing, by drawing from lessons learned in a creative writing program, through the Institute of Children’s Literature, as well as other sources. One of those other sources was psychology. What she learned, during her years of obtaining an AA degree in psychology, has proved invalu

It was a feeling I used to ignore, telling myself that I was being ridiculous. You can't know the future. That sort of thing. I've stopped ignoring the sense of dread. Rather, I emotionally prepare myself for the worst. It takes the initial shock out of the event and what ensues afterwards. That's about it.

I honestly have no explanation for why I seem to sense when hard times are coming. It's weird, to say the least. Lol!(less)

I don’t know what I was hoping for in this book, but this wasn’t it. Too much is stated as fact when it is conjecture. I love being open minded, but this was too much. It very much has an agenda similar to Christianity. Law of one. We all have one Cr ...more

Good book with amazing cave images. It was a little heavy on documenting precise dates, job titles, and what to me is irrelevant fluff. But it is well written. I was hoping for something less like a history book. The personal accounts of the cave exp ...more

“What if this is it? My chance to say goodbye to someone I hardly know, but long for a chance to get to know? Death and goodbyes . . . are they always this unfair?”
J.R. Vaineo, Kings of Muraine

“(He) summoned me late last year. He hurt me. Tried to bend me to his will. It should not be done, to a spirit. To hurt it. I should be incapable of being harmed. But his power grows. And it hurts even us. The Laws of Magic.”
J.R. Vaineo, Hunt the Dragon Within

“Fate is patient, and it keeps track. It never forgets the lives owed to it.”
J.R. Vaineo, Hunt the Dragon Within

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe.”
Christopher Paolini, Eragon

“The greatest enemy is one that has nothing to lose.”
Christopher Paolini, Eragon
