Sounds a bit like what actors say about fans coming up to them and quoting lines they don't remember at all. I think it was Stephen Fry who said something like "For them it's their favourite scene from their favourite episode of their favourite show, which they've watched 20 times. For me it was one of 20,000 scenes I've recorded for 2000 episodes of 200 different programs over the last 30 years, and usually watched once when it was originally broadcast".
