Connie Interesting that each of your characters (or their authors) are paragons of feminism's first wave.

Jennifer Ryan Great observation, Connie. I must be drawn to those kind of books. Who would you pick for yourself?

Connie I've thought about this often since the original post. As a young girl I was Nancy Drew (like many young girls) and Heidi, but as an adult, I'm not so sure. Probably like yourself, I recognize a hint of Jo March and maybe Clarissa Dalloway, but I'd throw in a blend of Francie Nolan, Nora Charles, Auntie Mame Dennis, and Truman Capote's original Holly Golightly. These women are much more than what meets the eye.

Jennifer Ryan What a terrific list. I love all of these characters. Auntie Mame Dennis is such a great one! Holly Golightly is really quite different in the book than she is in the movie, and I think I prefer the movie one as the book one is a more tragic character, although probably more complex. Wow, you really have me thinking now! Thanks for the message!
