Linda C I remember reading a stream of consciousness short story or excerpt in a comparative lit class in college. It was so disgusting and dull that I have totally blocked out the writer. I wonder if it was a Joyce excerpt. He has to be the ultimate fraud. Schlock writing that has convinced millions that it's genius.

Maxine Can you offer justification for your conclusion?

The Genius of James Joyce

Exploring the Labyrinth: Perhaps the greatest literary genius to emerge out of Ireland and arguably the greatest literary intelligence since Shakespeare, James Joyce (1882-1941) can be understood as creating an ever-widening labyrinth of innovation through his four masterpieces: Dubliners (1914), A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916), Ulysses (1922), and Finnegans Wake (1939).

Frank D You have to dedicate yourself to reading this book. I did, and it finally opened to me. It's not a weekend read. Get a copy of Harry Blamires' New Bloomsday Book. It will guide you.
