Very well said and absolutely true. It never ceases to amaze me how new authors can be so full of themselves.
I think the majority of Guardian readers simply have no idea that Hale completely fabricated the "online harassment" by Blythe in order to justify her obsession. I think this is what sticks in my own craw the most -- readers think Blythe actually did something improper to call this down upon herself.
The maturity to separate one's identity from one's written work is likely one of the key assets that make a writer a great writer. Brava!
