Greg Hegeman You appear highly uneducated and unresearched, The Eye of the World is nothing like The Fellowship of the Ring.

message 2: by Mariano (new)

Mariano WoT is absolutely nothing like LotR.

message 3: by Davidus1 (new)

Davidus1 Agreed! Nothing like LOTR.

message 4: by Matt (new)

Matt Skeels Nothing like it eh? Book starts off and ends as a chase scene which is pretty much the entire premise of FOTR. In fact many early fantasy books emulated FOTR.

message 5: by Davidus1 (new)

Davidus1 Not saying that it wasn't an influence but it is a different read and style.

Jason Ingersoll The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Winnie-the-Pooh both have anthropomorphic animals that interact with humans, so the former is basically a clone of the latter, right?

message 7: by Adham (new)

Adham Lotr starts with a birthday party and things go wrong after Gandalf found about Bilbo's ring. Followed by black riders coming to the Shire.

Wot starts with a festival, Bel Tine, and Trollocs come in.

Lotr has 9 members in the fellowship, including a powerful wizard, Gandalf, an uncrowned king, Aragorn, 3 friends.

Wot has 8 members, including a powerful aes sedai, an uncrowned king, Lan, and 3 friends Rand, Mat, Perrin

Lotr Gandalf dies and come back later

Wot Thom dies apparently and I'm pretty sure he'll be back

Both have a dark lord coming to power after being defeated once

Both are traveling from place to another the whole book

Both have a prophecy and a chosen one

Should I go on?

message 8: by Adham (new)

Adham I forgot one, both have a loyal servant to the dark lord that was tortured by him so they hate him and fear him at the same time, who are after what the dark lord is seeking... Gollum and the Peddler
