Yeah, read it. Awful. Not going on to Book 2
It’s just nowhere near as good as it’s supposed to be. The characterisation is umm... there are too many plot device/info dump characters, too many meaningless battles and aliens that are stereotype monsters... not anywhere near the Bobiverse or Expeditionary Force, sorry. Don’t take it personally. We’re all different 😊
Admittedly, i don't remember the characters well, but the action is soooo smart, especially in the later books.
This is why many who loved the bobiverse recommended them, the action is superb.
And Expeditionary Force has ALOT of unneeded space battles
