Lynette Gaines Finally, someone has put The Kite Runner on the list....thank you. His next two books were also good but I think The Kite Runner is still his best work so far. Also agree with Snow Falling on Cedars and The Poisonwood Bible. I was a bit disappointed in The Underground Railroad....maybe it received too much press and I expected more from it. As for the rest of the books on your list....I'm writing them down for future reading. Thanks.

Kim Grayson A Thousand Splendid Suns, as my daughter said, beautifully depressing.

Lynette Gaines Kim, If you enjoyed the books by Khaled Hosseini I have to ask if you've read Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese? It definitely got a 4 star rating from me. I also just finished reading Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter and highly recommend it. The subject matter is more light hearted but it was so good that I picked it up the next day and read it again because I felt like I rushed through it the first time, not paying attention to the small details. I had tears in my eyes as it came to an end but I was smiling.

Martha If you like Khaled Hossein, you would probably like And the Mountains Echoed/
