Sarah My guess: he was thinking he had something new and interesting to say. It rewards a patient reader many times.

Greg Nicola, I'm with you on this one. I did think it unique, but indebted to other unique writers like Joyce. Style over substance.

Cathy Vincevic Please try again. Slow down and relax about it. It is so worth it.

Karen Chapman I feel validated after reading your review, Nicola. I downloaded this book on my Kindle before a cruise, while I still had WiFi. Once underway, I curled up in a shaded lounger on the lido deck. anxious to dive into a wonderful novel. IMAGINE my surprise and utter disappointment just a few pages in! This is NOT a novel you take on vacation, especially having never read a single review or description beforehand. A book is a commitment, an agreement you make with the author to to spend valuable time with their words. I felt so cheated.

My bad.

Now that I'm home, I have since "figured out" what's going on in the story, quite proud of myself for doing so actually, because it took such effort, and I'll admit, I am quite intrigued with this strange little novel. I only wish I could discuss it with others. I have so many questions about the distracting format, its confusing story line and bizarre characters.

Good luck readers. Be prepared for a challenge.
