Weird. I'd heard previously that you can't seek and smoke at the same time. Is this a case where having two people doing it at once is different than one person?
Soothing out of a cloud should not be a problem. We saw that in Final Empire at the execution. Also, Kelsier mentioned to Vin that he pretty much keeps his copper on all the time.
