Sorry you didn't like it. It's an amazing read. Loved his descriptions of Mumbai and Afghanistan, and the underworld.
I love this book and can not see how anyone could compare it to the idiot. Well, to each his own said the woman as she kissed the cow.
Not liking The Idiot has nothing to do with the novel. But you can't compare it to Shantaram. I've read it probably four times. The only challenge I found was the conversation at Prince Myshkin's summer home that is almost 100 pages long and has not much to do with the novel! I also loved the movie with Gerard Phillipe.
