Morgane That's the weirdest thing I've heard about this books. Harry never changes throughout the series. He just gets better at what he does. In Bartimaeus the characters change and grow and are corrupted and complex. They're more realistic and make a huge statement about our world, politics and power. It's fine if you don't like them, but the whole point of the trilogy is character arcs with development and teachings.

Varsha R No offense Mars, but I actually think it's the exact opposite. The Harry Potter characters, while likable, remain mostly static throughout the series - the only remarkable character change was perhaps Neville Longbottom. The Bartimaeus trilogy, however, is all about character growth, and pretty much every character is dynamic in some way.
